@@curtisanderson1949, I was never a boxer and my father wasn't that grumpy, haha! But still Mickey reminds me of my father in some aspects and there are many elements in the story that several link to their lives. That's why it's a huge success!

Actually, if you've seen "THE REAL ROCKY" documentary about Chuck Wepner you'd realize that Stallone essentially took all of Rocky's story arcs from his life. It's pretty complicated how i feel about it.
Apparently they eventually had a settlement ($$) once Stallone took even his day job ain't into play for COPLAND

He should’ve won an Oscar for this dialogue right here… that inflection of his voice, it’s absolutely impossible not to gets emotional with this. I saw it the first time when I was a kid, back in the early 90’s and now that I’m 40, still gets me, man this is a piece of treasure
I have never watched this scene and not cried. A man isn't worth a damn if he can't cry at the right time.
I just wish I can meet Stallone in person one day and thank him for making Rocky, I have been trough so much shit that made me thinking of ending myself, but thanks to his character I keep get motivated to move on further and just like what Mickey says when im down there is an angel saying "Get up you son of a bitch!" And it even helped more hearing sly saying in Rocky Balboa "its not about how hard you can hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, thats how winning is done!"
I listened to this every morning last year, and cried and still do every time. It helped me get through some hard days. Thanks Sly. Thank you Mickey.

Two years ago I lost my father. He lived long enough to see me get out of a bad work situation and get the best break that ever happened to me. He wasn't happy after my mother passed, but I believe he stayed around long enough to see me succeed in the best possible way. When he died, I thought of this scene right away. I don't have a Marciano cufflink, but I have one of his favorite rings as I commemorated him with that ring.

1 and 4 were, 2 was a mess, 3 was OK, 5 was awful except for this scene. But so far the Creed's have been good. We don't talk about Rocky Balboa (technically Rocky 6)

This was my father figure growing up. I would look for comfort in rocky when I was a child.
Too many people say that V was the worst of all the Rockies. I vehemently disagree and because of scenes like this. “Mickey loves ya”. Incredible.
2023 and I neeeded this bad
Ive seen the Rocky movies countless times, and I love them all. This year, I lost my grandmother to cancer, and it was fairly sudden. We knew about the diagnosis 1 month before she passed. One of the last things she was able to tell me was that she wanted to hold on for me, to see me start my own family and give her great grand children. I was not able to fulfill that promise to her before she died. She meant the world to me, had taken care of me since I was a baby, thru everything. Every sickness I ever had, every problem I faced, she was always there to help me thru it. If there was ever another person who embodied the spirit of Mick in the real world it would have been my grandma. Ive gotten sad watching this scene before, but it hit extra hard this time with today being Christmas, and not having Grandma here. You are an angel now grandma, and i will look forward to the time I am able to see you again.

Visited the hospital to see my grandfather today, I heard from my aunt that he was full of energy after seeing us. I automatically think back to this. This speech hits hard, but it never meant more to me than now

For all the awful choices that were made for Rocky 5, this scene was just perfect.

Would actually be awesome to see a prequel Mick Movie about his experiences during the War and as a boxer training with older equipments and methods.
Except its canon that Mick was a pretty average boxer and trainer until he met Rocky. He found greatness at the end of his life with Rocky. Not sure there is a better story than that to tell about Mickey.
Rocky should have bought mickey's gym, should have contnud his legacy.
