    Great video but I disagree with one thing: 17:28 - all Eastern and southern African countries highly value their local languages. Swahili is most spoken by Easterners and some in northern Mozambique, whilst in South Africa you have 11 official languages (including English). In Namibia, English is the official language but most people speak their state-recognised national languages as lingua franca between communities. In Botswana you speak Setswana and parts of SA and Zimbabwe.

      @MidnightTheOne
      Except for Swahili in East Africa, Zulu in South Africa, Setswana in the Swanaland area, and Kinyarwanda, most southern and eastern African languages are rapidly going extinct. In Namibia, most early millenials cannot effectively communicate in their local tongues.
      I have been to all of these countries. Angola's situation is likely the worst in Africa, with the people who make up the south-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and others following closely behind.
      Even in Kenya and Tanzania, many who speak Swahili lack proficiency in their various languages. Swahili has driven many local tongues to extinction as it surges as the lingua franca.

    Also at least in my school in luanda I have a choice to learn a national language I tried to but it's too hard, also in our portuguese we have some words of some of our native languages(But I think that it's an informal portuguese)

    I usually don't comment but I will leave it here😅. I don't think people understand the impact of Portugueses in Angola, as you said wolof is untouched language meanwhile in Luanda not far ago people couldn't speak, or dress like African
    the assimilation was a real thing to the point our grandparents thought it would last forever, that's why they shaped us to integrate into the system by the way we dress, the way we speak etc because they wanted to give us a better life. Also, Senegal is not that mixed as Angola that's why they were able to maintain their blackness.
    Kaluanda just like to be well presented 😅 doesn't matter the social level I guess it is the consequences of colonialism, we got a lot outsiders calling us "Negropeans" to some extent nor that I agree with that, colonialism or white supremacy but it helps us to integrate in the west with respectful approach while others struggle a lot. I agree Senegalese are humble but unfortunately, many struggles a lot in the west.
    Note: the new Luanda Portuguese is a kind of urban style/slang, I disagree that Brazil and Portugal don't understand us, in fact it is much easier a Brazilian to understand an Angolan than a Portuguese.

      Looks like you are very proud to be called negropeans?With all portugueses did in angola,which angolan in his/her right mind would want to be associated with these very murderous people?Angola is a cultural disaster and a lot of it is due to the ruling political elite which colonised to the core.It is a disgrace to have so many people walking about with very weird portuguese names .Thankfully ,luanda aint the whole angola.Bambundu and bakongo are trying very hard to bring back africaness.

    • @benbewa
      @benbewa 4 месяца назад

      @@BantuCityDiaries I would say that more than 90% of bakongo people in angola or luanda speak an african either kikongo or lingala.If you go to a place like palanca,everybody speaks lingala coz many angolans were born in Congo.Then again bakongo of angola and congoleses are just the same people.Check the video of kinkole market in luanda titled ^ECHOS RDC 2022 NA ANGOLA : T0LANDA NDENGE BA CONGOLAIS BAZALI KO SURVIVRE NA ZANDO YA KIKOLO^

      Very informative! I'm on the "Echos RDC" on RUclips "ruclips.net/video/W8KcrMuy9XY/видео.html", they spoke mainly in Lingala with some French introduction, I could barely understand. Are these Angolans?

    • @benbewa
      @benbewa 4 месяца назад

      @@BantuCityDiaries It is a mix of congoleses and angolans of bakongo ethnicity,but it is difficult to know who is who coz they all speak lingala and look pretty much the same.Bakongo of angola and congoleses are the same people separated by artificial colonial frontiers .

    What you've shown isn't even 10% of Luanda. Luanda is very big. Poverty is due to the fact that 2/3 of Luanda's population emigrated to Luanda and around 8 million Congolese disguised as Angolans...

      The city of Luanda is very small and congested place; it isn't that huge. However, the Congolese claim is quite amusing, but I appreciate your input.

      Kilamba City was a fantastic idea. I remember when this was in the news a long time ago, I thought, wow! Angola has done well. However, I've reviewed some videos and found that Kilamba lacks adequate maintenance. Still, Kilamba was and remains a great idea.
