Funny thing is , legend has it it did , someone gave John Frusciante a cd that he made titled “ For John “ in august 2019 & John announcement of coming back in December 2019 .
Great, just great. I wish more guitarists understood the importance of putting this kind of passion into every note. A good solo is not a million notes; it's passion. This guy loves what he does and after watching this, I do too.
Very underrated album! Love that you go this in depth with John's work, true fan! When i heard this album the first time.... it changed the way I think of music entirely! There are so many subtle parts that I feel like i constantly discover new things each time I listen, opened my ears a lot more. You are also scary spot on with the sound....
wow ! i love John's expressive playing and its something you do effortlessly. Not only on this cover, but all your stuff. You pack a shit load of emotion in those hands my brother. Truly amazing !!!
I've through nearly all of them: Justin, Marty,.... BUT(!) when i watch your JF Stuff/LEssons i am feeling that my heart is really at home. Thank you so much and keep on ...
Absolutely insane! Your covers of frusciante are the best I've ever heard mate! I closed my eyes and almost thought it was john himself lol keep up the great work 👍
Everything was great but I really wanna point out how incredibly awesome the first few notes were. Damn, that instant I was floating in my chair. You can really hear all the hours put in behind every note. I am impressed and grateful that you share this with us!
That Ladies and Gentleman is what is commonly known as Man and Instrument together in prefect Harmony, absolutely beautiful to listen to and watch. Cheers Dave
Holy shit. At ~8:45 you're nailing that feedback expression he did in the song. I can't tell you how cool that is. I've always been in awe of those sorts of sounds made by guys like John and Jimi. So cool.
This song got me back into guitar after giving up for a few years. Central is my fav on the album these days, and one of my favourite songs of all time.
I never heard of this song till this video... wow man. Incredible playing and thank you for again giving me something completely new to tackle in my playing!!
Dave Simpson Sorry to bother you again, I know a lot of us are doing it and you need some time on your own away from us but can you please tell me, if you want and when you can, how do you get that kind of sustain for your sound? I know John doesn't have any sustainer inside any guitar and I always wondered how he can obtain it. You are my last hope for finding out. Thank you so much in advance! Wish you a great evening!
Man you are a genius and spreading so much John vibes! I watched all your Frusciante videos and they are so amazing but unfortunately I couldn't find a lesson of soloing like John, especially about his typical licks at 7:07 min and 7:40 min. If there is anyone who has this incredible talent to teach us these licks, it is only you. I think this would mean a lot to many of the John Fans here :) Thanks in advance!
wow...love your lessons and everything...so i open youtube, move on to your channel and what do i see? You covering one of my favourite pieces of music...Awesome! It's not easy to capture the pure emotion and the strange sadness of this song, but you...WOW!
you earned a sub my friend! amazing job. frusciante is my favorite guitar player and i just happened to stumble across your channel while searching him. glad i did!
One of my favorite solos from one of my favorite albums. Best tribute I've seen for this! Really amazing emotional and melodic interpretation. LOVED IT ! If you'll get to it, please do some sort of lesson about some of the guitar Technics you used in this video. Thanks !
I've watched this video so many times and I just noticed the remote control spider on your amp setup. I would expect nothing less. Great playing once again though Dave!
As a devout, religious and obsessed fan of John Frusciante. I can honestly say this is on par if not better depending on the mood. Truly captures the soulful side of John's playing whilst adding slightly faster and more exciting parts. Exceptional solo and video.
Love to hear ya do both the 2 part solo's on Deep Purple's 'Knocking at your Back Door' . Never heard anyone , including Blackmore or Morse play it live . I know you can do it !
Well,to be honest,I rarely write comments on youtube.. but fuck man,you are such a legend,so I had to made an exception..Just wanted to express gratitude on behalf of every single Frush fan out there..you are doing exceptional job,top notch.. you inspired me to take my guitar and renew interest in some John's songs that I never quite learned properly.. and for that,I thank you my friend!
You know Dave, I'm pretty sure you started this series only to have a valid reason to tell people about this song ^^ Nahh kidding, keep up the good work man! Love your stuff and learning a hell of a lot from it! :)
I really thought this song was one of the best things John has ever put out. This and "Niandra" are guitar genius at work. Niandra is genius for being so low fi but still dynamic. I think he just plugged a jag into a 4 track. Dave, I hope you are having a beautiful day. Now, can i have that guitar? :D
I am with you totally. Niandra is awesome. Love that 4 track sound. :) I am indoodle having a good day. I hope you are having a good day to. Not just yet. Sorry. I need it for a bit longer. :)
That's crazy, I was just listening to John's interview talking about this song and his Maggot Brain inspiration and then saw your video! What an incredible solo it is...and great playing as always :)
The link won't show up for some reason, but you can find it as "John Frusciante and Josh Klinghoffer interview 2009," it's a long radio interview, and they talk about this song at around 11 minutes
The only reason I can think of someone to dislike this video is jealousy. Amazing tone and playing
Thank you so much. :)
Aha türk buldum
Anytime I see dislikes one of Mr. Dave's videos it really gets under my skin. I think I kind of take it personally.
I'm definitely jealous of how well he plays but I don't think I could find it in me to dislike a Dave Simpson video
Wish John would see this. Your playing and passion alone stands the highest chance of reigniting his love for the guitar :=) Cheers from Sweden
Thank you very much indeed. :)
John would be amazed at Dave skills
