  • If you need to clean out or replace the fuel filter on your injected Kawasaki or Suzuki, this is the video for you. Dave takes you step by step through the process of removing the fuel pump from a ZX10r, stripping it to get to the filter and then the rebuilding it.

    Nice to see that there is no $300 high pressure filter like the gsxr750, most people do a filter bypass👍.

    You cleaned the filter sock/ strainer, not the filter. Apparently the filter is incased ‘in the lid’

  • @99gpandy28
    @99gpandy28 8 месяцев назад +1

    See that bit you call the lid that has FPR attached next time ,take out FPR and oring and spray carb cleaner in there and rinse with clean fuel ,then Back flush with air gun ,Because it has a micro filter in there and judging by your lower filter top strainer would be restricting fuel flow ,👍

    I know this video is old but I got a 2007 zx10 and it bogs at around 20-30 mph in first gear, also at about 9KRPM it stops it doesn’t go any higher then 9K RPM. Could a clogged fuel filter cause these problems? Also I should mention all new coil pack and plugs.

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  2 года назад +1

      The high rpm issue is commonly caused by the fuel filter being blocked, not heard of it at lower rpm but it could well be an issue. The 07 filter is basically the same as the later bike, so pretty easy to check

      To save removing one bolt I don't think it's worth the awkwardness of trying to keep the tank in place, it's much easier to remove it

      @@obsession_engineering thanks, wasnt sure if that might save me a little hassle and mess, im going to have to do it because fueling culprits are a limited number of things and the bike just doest sound right; it was juat starting to stutter at idle and certain rpms prior to running cleaner through it. 18k.

    Dude extreme huge mistake! That so called tea bag your calling the fuel filter is stage 1 of the bike's fuel filtration system, which is the~ "fuel strainer"! The 2ed stage of fuel filtration is the "fuel filter",( at fuel pumps exit port) which filters down to 40 microns, So changing a fuel strainer is only doing 20% of the job.

    I have issues with my zx10r 2011 spoken to the guys who rebuilt the bike would this have a massive effect because when I go to give the zx10r throttle above 6000revs it’s like the bike cuts out and there’s no throttle any more am told that this could be losing psi when bike demands fuel only starts working once the bike has been switched bike off completely then starts up again never had this issue b4 and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue in past.

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  3 года назад

      If the filter is just blocked it shouldn't be that bad, and resetting the bike wouldn't normally fix it, so it sounds like more of an electrical fault.
      Do you know if there's any fault codes? as there could be several items that could cause the problem, top injectors, ignition pick up, throttle position sensors... the list goes on unfortunately

    • @wayneclark2458
      @wayneclark2458 3 года назад

      @@obsession_engineering no fault codes come up or anything to say there’s a issue on the dash just cuts power till I come to a stop then it cuts out turn key off for couple minutes then fires straight back up revs like there was no issue.

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  3 года назад +1

      Unlikely unless the pump is failing, normally the issue is at high rpm when the pump can't flow enough fuel.
