Great challenge Martin, and especially in such great and quiet place. I love this landscape! Few miles everyday increase the volume gradually, that is a perfect training, especially during holidays to get rid of the extra calories :-)
Thanks Stelvio, the increase in daily runs is certainly helping with the gradual weekly distance, which as you pointed out is needed with all of the extra calories at the moment!
Martin, winter can be fun but sometimes we prefer to stay warm inside, so Marcothon sounds like a great way to stay motivated. Yeah, careful on the icy trails.
I love these type of videos. Great stuff, Martin. I, like you, get board doing the same route everyday. However, when I'm totally demotivated and don't wanna go I find the same old same old route often works wonders. Well done!
Having a running streak has two things to consider. Intensity a progression. Get it right and you good. Get it wring and you're not. Looks like you got the formula good for you. Hope you had a good Christmas.
Thanks Don, Bang on with intensity & progression, I had to think about how to tackle the month, thankfully it all went well 👍 & Christmas was good, thanks 🎄
Hi Martin, nice to see the video. At first, I thought you were way behind in your editing but then you brought us all forward 👍🏼 On the first bit, day five, were you wearing inov8’s? If so, by chance the RocLite or Park Claw? Dec 23 where I am now - a chilly 17c 😜😝🫶🏼 I’m not missing Canada at all. Merry Christmas 🎄 Wayne
Thanks Wayne, I've plenty of footage I've not got round to editing but sometimes you need to prioritise other stuff (such as mince pies) 🥧 Good spot on the shoes, they were Roclite's on day 5, very grippy for something with no spikes but realistically everything slips on ice. I'm jealous of your 17 deg Wayne, that would be welcome at the moment ☀️ Merry Christmas 🎅
@@TheDeterminedRunner here people lose their minds when the temperature goes below 20c. Puffy coats, long pants and family dogs wearing sweaters. My friends, back home or shoveling snow, I’m lathering on suntan lotion 😝😝 I went for a run this morning, I thought Garmin had a Christmas Eve morning badge. I guess I have to do it again tomorrow.
Nice goal and commitment, mate! It's interesting that there's less snow on your running path as each day went by. Do you use spikes on your running shoes to reduce the slipping? I find them to work well. Have a wonderful holiday season, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Marcothon is a great idea. I have not heard of it before. I will do it next year. It is beautiful but challenging running in your area this time of year. Is that normal or is winter earlier and more harsh? They claim that El Nino will make the winter in South USA more harsh in 2024. Have a great weekend!
Thanks Richard, I've been aware of Marcothon for a long time, so it's good to finally give it a go! I'd certainly recommend it to anyone, I've needed to think differently about my runs but feel good about the daily running. Weather-wise, this is pretty normal for around here (today's run with Jake was a challenge to say the least, I've finally thawed out now) 🥶
I didn't know about this or I might have joined in.I have run 6 out of seven anyways. I,d wish merry Xmas, but they said in Bethlehem,it's been cancelled,as Jesus is buried under the rubble.
Nice challenge Martin, hadn't heard of this one before. Great to be able to run in snow, love the crunch of it underfoot though did look a bit tricky with the ice in places! Have a good Christmas
That’s why you’re known as the determined runner! Brilliant’
Cheers Peter 😀

Great to see you running like this, dear Martin! Happy new year, all the best wishes!
Thanks Mihai, the running is going well at the moment, thankfully!

Thanks Reto, Marcothon has been a useful way of making you get out of the door & you do feel a benefit from running daily (so far at least!)
Nice going mate. Keep it up, and have a great Christmas 👍🏻🙂
Cheers Mark, have a good one 🎅

Well done!
Thanks Neil, remarkably I'm still enjoying the daily running, it also makes me stretch much more than I used to, as I have to do it every day now!
It is nice when the ice eventually melts.
Snow, Ice,, Melt, Repeat ❄️ Snow, Ice, Melt, Repeat ❄️ 😁
Cool challenge, Martin! Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks Jay, it's good motivation to get the runs in 👍

Thanks Thomas, sometimes I do use spikes for the snow & ice but on these occasions, I didn't (I will next time!) Have a great Christmas & New Year🎄

Well done with the 6 out of 7 runs Alan, hopefully, you can keep it going & get some festive runs in 🏃♂️

Thanks Ben, there’s always plenty of snow up here in the winter, when there’s that crunch underfoot, it’s a great feeling ❄️ Merry Christmas 🎄
