Defence and national security have always been important issues during elections, more so this century and in 2010, we were involved in Afghanistan and had withdrawn from Iraq the previous year - both conflicts were high profile issues and had affected Labour’s support in the previous election - LD gained a lot of support from anti war Labour voters.
