9:30 The reason why the drone starts slow when in POI is that it is measuring the distance between itself and the selected target - that way it can know how big of a circle it has to do.
Billy, whenever I want to learn something new about drones, I learn from your videos. Your explanations and videos are the best! Thank you very much!
The beauty of these features are that live on top of the main interface, you don't have to go digging through menu's to find them. Great tutorial, showing how simple these features are to activate and use in real world scenarios.
Thanks for simplifying this stuff Billy. Well done! I am 70 years old in all your videos have been so helpful to me. what’s with the ads? lol…I’m happy there are because this means that you are attracting a larger and larger audience and sponsors have noticed…When you had fewer subscribers I told you that if you keep up the great work, they will come. Well, you did and they did! Good job.
2 years later, and I am just beginning with the air 2s. Love it but have had questions regarding the automated controls. You explained it very well and was successful at using them. Crashed once because of user error when using POI because of my altitude and no side obstacle avoidance. Great lesson.
Someone in one of the many FB groups asked, "How do I set up Activ track/follow me with the air 2S?" Of COURSE I shared this video to them. The Master.
got mine today, I am blown away with the automations it has...perfect for pro work in my opinion, i only wish it had side sensors that would make it an absolute machine and pro 3 killer as well
I really enjoyed this tutorial from start to finish. I don't know how you do it keeping all your thoughts straight and the oratory moving so quickly. You are a great speaker and your tutorial rocked! Thank you!
Very informative. I like the chapters made it very easy to replay what I didn’t understand I wish more people did it that way with their information. Keep up the good jobs
POI is more powerful than you give it credit for. You can have it circle a subject that is moving. I've had some really good results going around a sailboat that's going upwind. The speed needs to be high enough that it will make it around the front, and you need to have safe space around since it's going sideways most of the time.
I used, POI and it crashed with leaves of tree? Luckily wasn't too high and nothing major damage done, just one propeller damaged. So my question is that it's protection system don't work in this POI mode or is it ways off when flying sideways
Just bought Air 2S and upgrading from my 6 years old Phantom 3 Pro.... My God, what a change - it's like leaving a Bus and jumping into Ferrari. Until today I had to fly manual only with no sensors and now all this :-) Amazing feeling.
I agree with you about the loss of previously and available flight modes, some of which were quite useful. I’d also like to see spotlight mode (and others) added in a firmware upgrade to the M2P, unsure whether it’s possible or just not a priority until the next Mavic Pro is released. The lack of side sensors has been my biggest gripe and has been the cause of at least a few crashes from the random super tall tree in my path during a POI or spotlight.
Don't forget that POI also tracks. So if you select a person or vehicle it will track and move as it rotates around the person. My personal favorite setting.
Rant is spot on. I just bought the 2s coming from the original Mavic. So far, I’m more disappointed in it than impressed. These things you covered are some of the reasons why. Thanks for your content!
I still have my original Mavic Pro too and can honestly say it is one of the best drones I have ever owned. It is in my go to drone that still captures some amazing photos and video clips and I don't have to worry so much about losing it or crashing it based on the current value.
Hi! Great video; do you have any idea why when I highlight the box with a person in it, then tap on Activetrack, the DJI go app says “cannot enter active track mode”?
You didn't mention obstacle avoidance using the different modes. Also, can Litchi be used with the Air 2S? I haven't tried it yet on mine, but I think Litchi had more options for autonomous control.
I recently purchased the Air 2S. I cannot get the intelligent modes to show up. I’m in video mode, I leave everything on auto. But I can’t figure out how to do the green box, be it a person, car or house. I want to figure out how to utilize Spotlight and POI.
Hi Billy I have been following you for the past few years and like all our advise and recomedstions. You do a really professional quality videos and presentations. Having said that I did buy a Air 2S last week and did paid for the tutorila at the "moments website". I think you wend over things too fast and you forgot to mention the DJI filters and you really did not spend good amount of time on the gimble seting like I did not know that t can go up to 14 degree and to see other guys talk about it. The phonr charging obtion does not exist on mine is that somthing DJI removed?. Do you think adjustable Polar Pro ND filters are needed or DJI filters are good to go? Thanks.
Hi. Very new to Drones. Just bought my first, The Air2S, a couple months ago. I feel like you skirted over the POI section and didn't give enough detail. When selecting POI obviously your drone, I believe, has to be in the air and pointing at the POI in question. The arrow we used to select the speed but do we know what that speed is? Also the distant to POI that the drone maintains seems to be to be extremely far away. Can we set/change the drone to poi distance prior to starting or during flight or is this mode set by default by the app.?
1) where do you hide the mic you are using ? 2) most importantly: what mode do you recommend to film someone on a bike from the front with the drone going backwards?
excellent presentation, Billy. Thank you! One question: instead of following the subject from behind, I would like the drone to fly backwards in front of me (or car, boat) . Is there a mode for that? I tried active track, parallel giving slightly better results than follow, but never was able to sustain that mode for more than 40 metres or so. Any idea? Thanks again.
Can you save the POI to say repeat the flight at a later time? Be nice for some transitional type stuff like a day to night or something. Thanks nice vid man
Hi Billy, great videos 👍, I’ve got an air 2s, I would like to follow horses at a barrel race event, the drone would be hovering ( no flying it at all ) is it possible to use a mode like spotlight to follow the horses and still be able to zoom in as they get further away from the drone ? If so, what tracking mode would you suggest for this ? Information appreciated !
Great video, very good. I have just got my DJI Air 2s. I’ve posted a few videos on my RUclips channel. I have a question I hope you can answer. When I use active track, should I always have it on bypass setting? I was filming myself solo yesterday using active track with the controller on my handlebars. A few times the drone braked and stopped. I had to land it in my hand and start again. Kind regards, Paul
I am looking at Air 2S for photogrammetry on smaller things like statues. On the Mavic 2 Pro there was Active Track Trace mode. That allows me to draw box on statue and use sticks to manually orbit around sculpture and take photos at any given interval. Does Spotlight work the same way on Air 2S. I am looking for a mode the will allow me to pick a subject and be able to orbit manually. I don't like POI because it never stops moving and you can only control speed. Any suggestions - thanks!
I’m curious what everyone thinks of the controller? To be honest that is my only reservation with purchasing this drone. I currently have the original Mavic Pro an absolutely love the controller especially the fact that the shutter speed it is on a wheel to make it really fast and convenient. I understand the Mavic air does not have the shutter wheel adjustment. What’s your thoughts on that?
Great way of explaining these modes, and breaking them down. Thank you! I was trying to figure out how to even initiate them. I knew it was just something simple that was totally kicking my ass but could not figure it out. I was missing the first step: Draw the box. i was thinking I had to put the drone in a certain mode first.
Today I was out flying and I wanted to test out the active track and it kept saying I was in the wrong recording mode. Every time I tried to draw a box around someone walking by I got the error message. A friend who has the new Mini 3 told me to turn on Scan People I think it is in the Control tab and at first it was greyed out but once I landed I noticed I could then flip the switch to turn it on. Once in the air I could draw a box around people at the park but it wasn’t tracking them. I rarely use those features but was confused on the whole I’m in the wrong recording mode to even get it to work. I was shooting in D-log mode 4k60 then I switched it to normal mode 1080/60 and neither of those did anything. Did a FW update since when this video was made cause this to happen?
Great explanations on everthing. I did try the active track in densely wooded hiking trail to follow me in trace mode. The Air 2S gets confused sometimes, and its not consistent on its response to the detected obstacles. At the moment I can't rely on it to do it all by itself safely. I guess I have to conduct more trials to get more comfortable with it. Thanks
tour rant was right on the money. To this day, I have yet to see a flight app that was aa powerful and feature-rich as Autopilot by Autoflight Logic. 🤓 It’s pretty old now (about nine years!) but it did everything! You could even orbit and track another drone as it was tracking a moving subject! You could set up waypoint flights that had action “triggers” you could set at each waypoint.. change altitude, speed, even POI along a waypoint route… pretty amazing. I bought my Phantom 3 pro and my iPad in order to specifically run that app. 🤓😎
Im getting my Air 2s delivered in a few days and after watching this video I’m already kind of regretting it. I need to enter coordinates of property lines taken from land surveys and have it fly the perimeter from one waypoint to the next. I’m sure I could probably tap the screen to manually add points for it to fly to, but I need it to be as precise as possible so being able to enter exact coords would be nice. I saw some other videos that gave me the impression I’d be able to do that, but it’s not looking like it. Any suggestions on how I could accomplish this, or maybe a recommendation of a similar product in this class?
OMG!!! it took me a while to figure out how to get the active track to work, you have to use 4K 30 or lower. would have been nice if you mention that it on your video or maybe you should make a video on it..
Gj for video. I don't like a spotlight on air2s, because it is just orbiting around the object. On all older drones, in the spotlight, you can move linearly (like in focus mode in Litchi litchi), on the ph4p you even have course lock lines on the map. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't see the difference between orbit and spotlight on air2s.
Hi Billy... I just use drone in the last 2 years and have been watching different types of intelligent system. One particular one that I am very interested at is the course lock (or called fly-tap in older Mavic air app). How would I be able to execute this in DJI Fly app... or this feature gets axed? This is probably one of the most cinematic moves, if not the best you can ever do with drone, and it's impossible to execute manually due to the precision required.
Great explanation of the smart modes of the Mavic Air 2s. It has been awhile since I watched one of your video clips Billy......looks like you have been getting successful with all the clicks. We see you are driving a new Tesla and the production quality gear must have cost you some $$!
very informative. When using Active Track to video myself mountain biking, one challenge i have is it will swap me as the subject for another mountain biker if i pass them or they pass me... Mini 2, but remember no sensors and way less features, but if you want something cheap that flies good, there is no way around the mini 2. I still have it even though I am fully licensed and have way more expensive drones in my collection.
Recently received my Air 2S & practiced some over the weekend with it. Yeah, what they have programmed in it works 'amazingly' well, but having more than 3 Modes would be nice especially if they were in earlier models.
Need also to hear negative side of Air2s. a lot of limited parameters of features to maximized 1" sensor and 5.4k resolution. Air2s introduce 1" sensor with 5.4k but Mastershots is only 1080p resolution. Imposiblle to reach 12km flight range in less than flight time than older Air 2.
Although I know the modes, I still look to have fun with you. Have a great rest of the week, here in Germany it rains all the time. I hope you enjoy the America's summer weather. Cheers 👋🏻
9:30 The reason why the drone starts slow when in POI is that it is measuring the distance between itself and the selected target - that way it can know how big of a circle it has to do.
I was thinking the same when I saw it.
Billy, I’ve watched so many videos on “how to” with ActiveTrack, but yours is hands down the best.

The beauty of these features are that live on top of the main interface, you don't have to go digging through menu's to find them. Great tutorial, showing how simple these features are to activate and use in real world scenarios.
Finally, someone showing what the Spotlight mode does if you keep the drone stationary. Exactly the feature I need.
Thanks for simplifying this stuff Billy. Well done! I had no idea you could track a moving subject in POI 😯
Plus you can still control the drone’s altitude and gimbal while it’s doing it’s thing. Makes for some dynamic moves.
So in this case what’s the difference between POI and Spotlight? They both sound the same to me.
@@TheAzn18 Spotlight stays still, poi goes in circle haha
I used, POI and it crashed with leaves of tree? Luckily wasn't too high and nothing major damage done, just one propeller damaged. So my question is that it's protection system don't work in this POI mode or is it ways off when flying sideways
I've had my air 2s for a few months now and absolutely love it this video will definitely help me get better

I like your fast talking explanation. No wasted time. Good instructional, thanks.
Love your thorough explanations on these topics! Great Job!

Me too
Quality info! These “intelligent flight modes” have definitely gotten smarter!!! Makes tracking the subject smooth and easy.
Totally agree with needing Follow Me mode. Seems like a no-brainer and big oversight to ax that one.
Don't forget that POI also tracks. So if you select a person or vehicle it will track and move as it rotates around the person. My personal favorite setting.

How do i customize my stick mode?? When i click customize it beeps n doesn’t allow me to manually customize. I don’t like mode 2😩😩😩
Great video.. Purchasing mine Thursday cause of you Billy!!
Mate, I really appreciate your review on these flight modes. I just upgraded from 1st Gen Mavic Pro and I cant believe what this little thing can do.
These intelligent flight modes makes filming really easy. Amazing what these top-tier drones like the Air 2S can do.
Mid-tier.
You didn't mention obstacle avoidance using the different modes.
Also, can Litchi be used with the Air 2S? I haven't tried it yet on mine, but I think Litchi had more options for autonomous control.
Thank you
Can DJI air 2s have a course lock menu for video instead of hyper-lapse
I recently purchased the Air 2S. I cannot get the intelligent modes to show up. I’m in video mode, I leave everything on auto. But I can’t figure out how to do the green box, be it a person, car or house. I want to figure out how to utilize Spotlight and POI.

Hey, am new to drone flying, I get a option to buy air2s or mini3, which one should I go for?...appreciate any help 🙂

Thank you for the info, but I have a smart controller on my 2S.
Anyway to get those 3 modes at the bottom of the screen?
Tnx
I cannot find active track on my dji air 2s the tab with Trase and parallel doesn’t even pop up
Can you save the POI to say repeat the flight at a later time? Be nice for some transitional type stuff like a day to night or something. Thanks nice vid man
Interesting question
When pressing return home after active tracking will it return back to original take off point of where your remote is?

U should put a big dji logo on the roof of your car , to help the drone track it in spotlight . Lol

Very cool informations! I will use this when I buy my Air 2S.
Congratulations from Brasil 🇧🇷
Yes, Imma let my Air 2S do its thing with these intelligent flight modes. I just focus more on the creative side.
I have trouble making a box! I don’t know if my hands are too callous or what.
I’m curious what everyone thinks of the controller? To be honest that is my only reservation with purchasing this drone. Does Intelligent flight mode enables side way flying and disable obstacles sensors?

Hey DJI I agree with the rant like the Follow Me mode and or just follow the controller are very useful when flying alone.
I keep gettin "Unable to focus in Smart Mode' on my controller. Why?
Can you use these intelligent flight modes with the 5.4k resolution @30fps? And can they also work in Sport mode?
Great video, so informative 👍
You're killing it buddy.. however I never use them lol. Mmmmmm maybe I need to start playing a little with them.. 👍👍
Mikey
Mikey they are a ton of fun to use in the right situations brother!
OMG!!! it took me a while to figure out how to get the active track to work, you have to use 4K 30 or lower. would have been nice if you mention that it on your video or maybe you should make a video on it..
New drone flyer here. Will the drone exercise obstacle avoidance during Spotlight & POI mode while moving? Thanks for the vid!
Great tutorial and I agree about the need for DJI to add in some more intelligent flight modes. Thanks.
Hi Billy... I just use drone in the last 2 years and have been watching different types of intelligent system. Great explanation of the smart modes of the Mavic Air 2s. It has been awhile since I watched one of your video clips Billy......looks like you have been getting successful with all the clicks. We see you are driving a new Tesla and the production quality gear must have cost you some $$!
Great job explaining all these new features. Thanks a lot!!
I have not found this application in my dji air2s pls help
Sir my drone air 2s gimbal stuck problem please help me
very informative. When using Active Track to video myself mountain biking, one challenge i have is it will swap me as the subject for another mountain biker if i pass them or they pass me... The examples you show, you're the only one on a board in the parking lot or the only moving car in the parking lot... have you done much playing around with more similar moving subjects? like you and 4 of your friends all on boards riding around each other? is the Air 2s more capable of distinguishing one subject from another? Thanks for the great info... i can see you put good time into this!
Interesting, informative and useful video, Billy. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
I prefer the old POI functionality because a lot of times there’s not actually a selectable subject that I want to orbit or it’s night time and I just want to orbit something like a firework show - there’s not a single point that I can select
Very helpful, Billy. Thank you.
Outstanding video Billy👍👍 keep rockin . Love your Content as always😉
When it comes to active track and obstacle avoidance .which drone would you choose . Skydio 2 or dji air 2s ?
Skydio 2 all day every day
Can DJI Air 2S ActiveTrack work well on a wild animal or a flying bird?
Another great Billy Kyle video. Always learn a lot watching them. I am going to try Active track to while kayaking.
Which drone would you recommend me to buy i am trying to buy my first drone but i dont want to spend a lot of money great video by the way.👍
Mini 2, but remember no sensors and way less features, but if you want something cheap that flies good, there is no way around the mini 2. I still have it even though I am fully licensed and have way more expensive drones in my collection.
Billy,
Great Information On The DJI Air 2S. Thank You !!
Thanks Billy... whenever I have a question you are my go to... there is so much crap on youtube...
Does active track work with avoiding wires or powerlines??
Are the intelligent flight modes available on the RC PRO controller?
Another great Video. Thanks Billy. Question? Can I use my DJI RE Goggles with this drone? Thanks Chuck.
How do I activate Intelligent Flight Modes with Air 2s with Smart Controller?
Recently received my Air 2S & practiced some over the weekend with it. Yeah, what they have programmed in it works 'amazingly' well, but having more than 3 Modes would be nice especially if they were in earlier models.
Great job Billy! Loving this drone for sure! Keep em coming buddy!
This video is awesome, thanks for sharing as always. Very well put together.
Thanks for sharing this. Just one quick question that is probably obvious: For active track to work, do you have to have the controller on you?
No you do not
@@billykyle Thanks for the response.
Just got the air2s and now I feel more confident about using the features lol
Wonderful review!!! I wish I could like this 100 times over!
Is it true that with all of these modes you can not shoot in DLOG?
does anybody know the website for the controls and how to use OAS air 2s drone Have iPhone

Keep it up!
do u have to be recoring for spotlight to work?
