R62s are great and some rail fans miss them on the 4 line thank you for making this video especially thos rail fans that have watched a documentary of the union square wreck of 1991 and it's sad 5 people died on that accident
It was 6 trains ran: Lexington Ave Local Pelham Bay Park (or Parkchester) Bronx 125St-Lexington Av Manhattan And that 4 trains ran Lexington Av LOCAL (to 125St only, then exp) Eastern Pkwy local Woodlawn- Jerome Ave Bronx New Lots Ave Brooklyn plus 3 trains were not running past 14St so this set was temporarily freed up for use on the 1 and 4 lines but since New Lots service was mandatory they gave it to the 4.
The reason why the R62s ran on the 4 for that weekend was because they needed extra service. That same weekend, 6 trains were not running between 125th street and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. 4 and 5 trains made local stops in both directions in Manhattan to cover for service. It was the weekend of May 4th to May 6th.
This took place on May 5, 2018. This is because of planned construction on the 6 that suspended service south of 125th St and caused the 4 to run local in Manhattan.
I know why this happened it’s because the Clark Street tunnel was being fixed, the 4 train was borrowing r62 from the 3 train, the Clark Street tunnel is open at all times.
R62 4 trains will always be the natural beauty queens of the IRT Lexington Avenue Express!!!
So nice to have 2009 memories back in May

Car 1438 was one of the cars and the only car that survive the union square wreck
9:58 3 train sign by mistake. Should be the R62 4 train mentioned
This was due to the Clark St tunnel closure, where 3 trains were suspended in BK, so the 4 was extended to New Lots, and used cars from the 3
The real 4 train
I never seen an R62 4 train for this week
It was
6 trains ran:
Lexington Ave Local
Pelham Bay Park (or Parkchester)
Bronx
125St-Lexington Av
Manhattan
And that 4 trains ran
Lexington Av LOCAL (to 125St only, then exp)
Eastern Pkwy local
Woodlawn- Jerome Ave
Bronx
New Lots Ave
Brooklyn
plus 3 trains were not running past 14St so this set was temporarily freed up for use on the 1 and 4 lines but since New Lots service was mandatory they gave it to the 4.
