It's one thing for dad to be behind on child support and struggling, but he went out and created a whole other family and neglects his responsibilities to his first child. I hope she doesn't speak to him, because he doesn't deserve her love. He abandoned her, so she should abandon him right back.

@katesweeney she is, Dopey. When you’re married, all income is joint income. What he is in the hook for, she is on the hook for. All debts are community debts, this includes back child support incurred while you’re married. Whatever he owed before they were married won’t count. She signed up for this when she said, “I do” to this low life.
Don’t defend ignorant people with more ignorance. Even if she wasn’t legally on the hook, morally she is also a deadbeat waste with low principles and high desperation.

To put it into perspective how far behind he is - $44k divided by $410/mth is 109 months. This deadbeat is 9 *YEARS* behind in support!
If we do the math he's got kids with the new woman of 11, 7 and 1. My guess is the defendants' new significant other is a big part of having him stopping those support payments - if it comes to putting food on their table or paying support you can bet your last dollar she wants that food on their table. Would explain why defendants new partner is looking so uncomfortable sitting there.
