I'm so tired of Courts allowing renters to get away with not paying back rent and basically blackmailing the landlords to vacate the property. The tenants stop paying because they know the landlords will agree to just about anything to get them off their property. It's insane.
They lived there rent free and yet have the audacity to sue the landlord
He ruined their belongings with his water drilling, and it cost them $3,500 in water bills and 3 weeks in a hotel. You bet I'd sue.

@@jackreacher3499Exactly! I’ve noticed a lot of people who get stuff free end up suing for more too. At least on JJ.
Usually I side with the landlords when tenants aren’t paying rent, but it sounds like their house was uninhabitable from flood damage. I had this happen to me years ago in San Francisco the week of Christmas and the landlord came in with two box fans to attempt to dry out the carpet and a roll of quarters for the laundry machine for my trouble. My furniture was all destroyed and the place smelled disgusting from the dirty water, plus there were exposed nails everywhere from where he tried to pull up the carpet to help it dry out faster. I was advised he was responsible to put me up in a hotel or rent me an equitable apt until it was properly repaired, but I didn’t want to do that because I knew I would never see reimbursement. Some landlords will try to get away with murder and many do until someone puts them in their place.

And for deadbeat landlords who never fix anything but expect rent on time and some of their properties are just as slummy as the landlords

Imagine you're a landlord, and you put everything in some rental property. Someone moves in, doesn't pay rent, damage the home, FLOOD the home, and you have to eat everything and give them basically a grand to get them to leave!!! Wow! Entitled.

You CANNOT have a side verbal agreement when everything else is being done in written agreements or within a court action which is also written. So she is not believeable. Tenants always do this. Saying that something is verbal when it's not in a lease.
