Sad thing is I've wanted to be a dad practically half of my life. But know I'm not in the right circumstance to do that. I dunno how so many fathers get themselves into these situations when they dont even want kids but I do and its never even been a possibility.

$44,000 at $410 per month is 9 years. This dude is 9 YEARS behind. Daughter is 16 and they split when she was 3. So out of 13 years of support, he's behind 9!!! And he's like - I did 3 months in jail. And I was out of work last year. 9 YEARS!!!
If this case was going to be solely about what he owes in child support, he should have brought documentation of what he had paid and is paying. 😑
Watching it, I suspect that the judge knew she really had no case for her court, but decided to help her out by giving the needed for the lady to go after him and his wife, maybe even enough for it to start garnishing her check to.

@davidarthur6942 The sad thing is us picking who we have chosen to have children with... 😔 and in her case from the looks of it we only know her side not his. We don't know the full story. So I can't really make assumptions about him fully to blame him fully for being made out to be a dead beat because of the child support issue.

I paid my ex for many years with cash in an envelope every Friday as I picked the kids up.
Then one day she put a claim in saying I'd never given her a penny. I couldn't prove I'd paid anything but I had.

That depends on how much money he makes. Child support will say he has to work minimum 30 hours a week. They'll take 1/3, she'll never see 400 a month if he makes 15 bucks an hour

I agree with the judge's decision. That defendant is a complete LOSER! The fact that he was able to have a 1-year-old child after he served time in prison, spends Monday through Friday being a housedad dad, only working on the weekends, and can't pay child support to his daughter from his former relationship is beyond me. If you're a parent, you can't just snap your fingers, move on with another honey, and neglect the child from your ex. You could push aside your ex, but not your kid. What a jerk!

DJ is technically a hobby like being a musician, you only make a few hundred bucks on the weekends. Of course parties and weddings are a lot more but that's mostly summertime only

Sadly because he and his ex get along for the sake of their daughter his ex won't go to a lawyer to pursue what he owes in back child support for that kind of action will only hurt the relationship between them all getting along well.

I agree, the plaintiff is exhausted. The defendant has worn her down with his games, his lack of jobs, his constant skirting of those child support payments, his broken promises, and the flaunting of his new wife/new kids/new life. The poor woman will probably throw a party when her daughter turns 18, and she no longer has to have any contact with the soulless bum except through the family court.

And $300-400 for a DJ gig ~2015 in California is very low - he was probably making a lot more than that. In New Jersey/Pennsylvania in the early 2000's, a DJ was making at least $400 - so he was more likely making $500-600 (and probably more) AND he could easily have worked 2 gigs per [most] weekend[s].

I'm a drummer and haven't been in a band since the late 90s I just play at home now but I got friends still in bands, but ya if you are gigging you got to split that 3-4 ways and it's not much, unless you do party's or even better weddings but that's only summer gigs

Red heads are usually tough Irish or Scottish! He's been lucky so far. I had a similar situation with child support however i lived with my babies mother, my fianceé. We were on welfare and i got cut off for not going to a review, they made her sign a child support paper or get removed from welfare. So they came after me even though we were living together. We got married a year later. It added up to 5k in the early 90s that was a lot of money. It took about 10 years before they finally dropped the warrant. He's in trouble they don't mess around. Update?? My wife took her life in 2016, now i live alone 58
In some states if the ex owes more than $4000 in child support there is an automatic warrant out for their arrest. Wonder if they are in a state like that.
Yep, I'm in Michigan when I hit 5k I went to jail for the weekend. Now dog this... I was living with my baby's mother I didn't leave her and my daughters! It's because she was on assistance and I wasn't before we got married. When we got married a year later they stopped my arrears and it was 5k in 1991. It took about 10 years before they finally Left me alone. The money wouldn't of went to my LATE wife it would've went to the state! F that I ain't giving them squat was my attitude lol
