Thank you all for the comments so far. It just goes to show how common tackle theft is which is sickening. Hopefully it has encouraged a few more of you to improve security. As mentioned in the video, for a lot of us, sheds are the only option so it is a case of doing what we can with what we have. 👌🏻

Comments still blaming myself and generally giving me grief will be removed. This is intended to be a helpful video so negativity won't be and doesn't need to be tolerated on my channel. I address all of the negative points raised within the video so it also shows people are not fully watching but choosing to jump on the blame band wagon straight away. Cheers, Joe

@@nuffinbutfishing I am really sorry to hear this. Have you made a list of the things you know were stolen?. We could all share it on our pages. The angling community is normally a good place and people hate it when others have their things stolen. Nice fish at the end :)

Look at a company called Asgard sheds there police approved, not cheap but cheaper than replacing your tackle, that’s what I’ve used since my kit was robbed and same as you lights facing it and cameras and alarms

Just a thought mate. Have you thought in investing in a 24hr access lock up? They are secure, with an on site security gaurd, CCTV, a fob to open the barriers, and keys to unlock your cubicle. I used one for a while and they are great. But they aren't cheap. However, because your fishing is your business, you can probably claim it's a legitimate business expense, and offset some of the cost against tax.

Sorry to hear this, and can tell from your voice how it has affected you and yours. I cannot understand the mentality of people who would even think to say it was your fault, what planet do these people live on. No one should have to worry that they will be burgled, its your stuff and your land, no one has the right to take it, just because you are a face of the scene and on holiday does not mean it is your fault. I,m so glad you are highlighting this incident to people, I guess most of us watching will now think about our levels of security to protect our homes and property, myself included. My brother in law had his house ransacked 3 times in the same week whilst he was away on holiday, to the point they emptied stuff from his loft, and even layed out all his bank statements on his bed, precisely and neatly, maybe as final thing to scare him and his family and it affected them for a long time afterwards. I hope you and the family get past this, and again thanks for raising awareness.

I had my entire kit stolen when I was about 15 and I was gutted. Sure insurance helped (kinda) but the worst part was watching being unable to fish while the local lake was fishing the best it had in many years. Thankfully I live in Canada now and theft is far less an issue than in the UK.

Had the same happen to me twice I was 14 yrs old at the time and my mum and dad and me lived in a ground floor flat my tackle wasn’t expensive brands like diawa or anything but Woolworths own brand but it took me ages to get it together and to have it stolen not once but twice was devastating not just because I had my tackle stolen but because there was some scummy twats in my mum and dads flat it took ages for us to feel safe again and at that time there wasn’t many if any insurance companies that insured fishing tackle. I’m now 62 yrs old but I can’t remember it as though it was yesterday. I hope you and your wife get over the feeling of having your property invaded by some thieving arseholes. All the best and congrats on the birth of your baby.👍👍👍👍👍🥂🥂🥂🥂

They also took my pike box as well with floats. 6months later realised they also stole my Nippers mini moto, when I went to get it out for him! Also had my Motorcycle stolen last summer, all caught on CCTV, kids posting on TikTok with it, but the police were not interested. Lucky got it back after 2 days!

Sorry to hear that you had all of your tackle stolen iot must be sickening. One of the things that I do now apart from the hightened security etc. is to keep a full inventory, including makes and how much it costs to replace, of what I've got right down the the contents of my tackle box. its a pain to do but it is really helpfull whenyou have to go to you insurance company and detail whats gone. I've also marked all the expensive stuff with a product call "Datatag". Its normally used mainly for motorcycles but its veri easily hidden and easy to identify. The location of my Datatag marking is also listed on my inventory.

Sadly there are some people amongst us that would steal anything, some would steal a wasps nest! The police may be able to help you if you can tell positively who has done it and provide precise evidence for them, also tell them where the thieves live and what time the they will be in, and also guarantee that the thieves won't turn confrontational. Then every consideration will be afforded to them, the thieves may be asked if any social factors influenced their actions, had they received enough affection and nutrition as a child and did they injure themselves in any way stealing your gear, which could have implications for you. You will get a crime number so you can claim on insurance and the insurance will offer you a fraction of what your gear is worth. Painful but true.

It isn't practical for every angler particularly with priorities like raising a family, but if you can keep your tackle indoors (even if it's only some more valuable items like your bite alarms or reels) in a spare bedroom, basement or loft space that can help. Unfortunately garden shed's, garages, lean to's etc tend to be less secure places and as pointed out, no place can be 100% secure.

Had my Fox Camo Low Level Carryall stolen from my car back in December 2023.
The Ring doorbell didn’t pick up the theft unfortunately as it was just outside the parameter of the motion sensor.
Inside the bag had an original Fox F box double that was loaded with over 20 years of tackle that i had collected most still in packets.
A set of 4 Fox SX alarms,a Fox black label swingers in a presentation set,a set of RH specimen hunter scales and another Fox camo bag full of about 12 tubs of pop ups and goo’s.
I reckon in total it was around £800 worth of tackle.
Thankfully my rods, reels, bivvy….etc were all safe in a locked garage.
So for the last 3 months i have been starting to build my terminal tackle up again.
To get me fishing again asap i got most stuff on a budget.I got a set of 3 mini micron X alarms and receiver second hand from Facebook Marketplace £100, a cheap NGT Carryall and budget terminal tackle including ready made rigs.
One silver lining is that my work had given me a £40 gift voucher which i could spend at Jack Frost Tackle shop in Crawley. So with this i bought a new Fox tackle box. One thing i did spend a lot on and treat myself to was a brand new set of Limited Edition 165 RH Specimen Hunter yellow dial scales 😏
Unfortunately i have learned the hard way never to leave anything in my car again even if it is in the boot covered up.

As someone that knows about locks that one on the pic you showed is a piece of shite you can open them with a bit of tin can. You need a lock that is bolt cutter proof also a light inside your house that has an outdoor pir sensor so it comes on when with the flood lights. Trust me it works

We had a bit of a scare around Christmas, 3 weeks of beeping car horns at night outside our house. Police Scotland have said it is a tactic of criminals targeting rural houses to see who switches lights on etc. Our neighbour opposite had a trailer stolen at 8pm, and next door (a few hundred meters up the road) had an attempted break-in on Christmas Day night! It put the fear into Ela and I so much that we genuinely nearly moved back to Helensburgh so we weren’t so secluded. Not a nice feeling at all to not feel safe in your own home. Things have settled down mostly, although we still get the odd beep at night now and then. Loads of cameras up, motion sensor lighting and about to be upgraded to a fully monitored SimpliSafe system as well. I hope all of this passes soon for you guys, for us, I’m not sure we will ever feel 100 percent safe again, but the added security does help a little bit 🫤

The problem i have with the police is after the theft has happend they put the onus on you to make things harder for the criminal instead of acutally trying to arrested the individuals who are committing the crime. After having my van broken into twice in a few weeks and knowing i was being followed daily just for the right opportunity to strike, it juat doesn't seem right that the police just brush it off knowing its happening multiple times a day

I had the same thing happen to me years ago, most of my shooting and fishing gear was meticulously gone through and taken. Equipment that took me years to collect, he even used one of my own rucksacks to load gear into.
I did however find out who broke into my shed and I had a game of base ball lined up for him to take part in.
Anyway the sad part is, this guy turned out to be a local well known smack head thief etc.
Turned out his daughter played in the same football team as my daughter 🤷🏽‍♂️
I met him face to face while watching my daughter play football along with his daughter.
My daughter begged me not say or do anything to this individual for his daughters sake and all the other kids and parents.
I still don’t know how I never lost my temper 🤷🏽‍♂️ but I kept my composure to date.
I claimed off my house insurance luckily enough and replaced most of my gear along with a cash payout into my bank.
All I’m saying guys, always think three steps ahead so you don’t get caught breaking the poxy law doing some damage 🤔
I still see this individual around my local town and he knows I know and steers well clear of me.
All my gear secured out of sheds now as you all know, if they want to get into your shed or garage, the ba..ards will 😟

    WELCOME TO BRITAIN 🇬🇧
    1. Make sure you light up your garden really well, so the thief doesnt trip over and hurt themselves as that makes YOU liable.
    2. Make sure you pack away any paddling pools and ponds and swimming pools are fenced off, so the thief doesnt drown, as that make YOU liable.
    3. Train your security Dog not to bite, just incase they hurt the thief during a robbery, as this makes YOU liable.
    4. Please secure your roof on all your buildings, just incase the thief falls through and hurts themselves, YOU will be liable.

Hope you get back on the bank soon. Maybe another match against Luke?
    Merv.

A dog is a great addition, (though needs looking after properly) ... as is a CCTV setup, they come up in Lidls regularly for cheap money... and keep the most spendy stuff in the house, Delks, Deeper... stuff like that, also, a second locked steel (a sheet of concrete rebar is cheap enough) mesh door inside the main shed door will also slow the bastards down, hopefully while the shed alarm (again a cheapo will do) is screaming....
Sorry state the world has become now....😕
    Tight lines, lad

This happened to me years ago, the stuff that my uncles & parents brought me hurt the most. as they have passed away. BUT I had the police come round with just a landing net handle…….” Do you recognised this “. Yes I said, “ take the bung out of the bottom & stick your finger up the handle” they pulled out a laminated sheet with my name and address on it, ….. Bang to rights, sentenced but a lot of my stuff sold for drugs 🤬

I’m so sorry to hear that bud but please don’t try to play it down that the police were actually helpful, it’s disgusting some
People would never be able to afford to insure and replace there tackle which in my opinion could trigger serious mental health issues, all the police are doing by not acting on it checking cctv on the roads buildings ect which we can’t access they would be able to find them if they really wanted to simple as that , by not acting they are making it a common thing and for people to except it

Imagine if you caught one in the act they attacked you and you punched one of them and they died, then the police would attend…to arrest you !!!!
Sorry to hear this hope you do everything you can and what the police have said is wrong ! You can get specialist locks that take specialist equipment to use which makes a lot of noise and time to get through them ! Use them… look for high end titanium locks, bolts, screws aswell as alarms… ❤
