Just stumbled upon your channel and wow. How I've never found it before I don't know. I love your content and as a disabled angler on a very tight budget I buy a lot of the less important gear from Ali express, wish and temu. I have had a frankly surprising experience with a reel by the same brand you're using here. I bought it on wish in 2018 and it is still going now with no issues. I have caught pike to 28lb regularly using it for six years now. I oiled the bearings twice 😂 amazing content, keep up the good work. It's great to see a more casual style fishing channel here rather than the super serious usual channels.
Great video Curley, though I would say if you want to start cheap with carp gear you can't go wrong with anything Shimano puts out there at the lower budget range. TX rods and entry level Baitrunners will get you setup and the gear will last for years. When it comes to bite alarms, I use Delkims, but if I was starting out again as a new carp angler, I'd definitely recommend FOX's entry level Mini Microns which you can pick up for less than 30 quid an alarm. At the end of the day, the gear has to stand the test in longevity and I very much doubt most of this gear on show will last a season or two.
I myself brought a cheap reel off of Amazon and initially it was great, I think the problem with cheap products like this is longevity. After 9 months I was seeing issues and then the inner mechanisms completely failed, I couldn’t reel in, it would only backwind and made a horrific noise when doing so 🤣 There are certainly products you can get away with buying cheaper versions of but other things you’d be better inclined to spend that bit more so you’re not replacing them every season. Great video though mate
@nuffinbutfishing will you ever do a video on the fact that nearly all fishing clothing is made from Chinese cotton and made with slave labour from 2 million slaves that live in camps the dark secret of the fishing industry
Would be nice to see a comparison of all the new adjustable zig floats (ridge monkey, trakker, Fox Korda etc ) which performs best, do they all release on short casts as well as long, do they release hitting the clip or do you have to crash them in. Think would be very interesting
Great video - I might have a punt on some similar bits - as you point out, you save enough on the bits like the putty and swivels to “risk” trying some other bits and break even if they’re junk.
Love the video mate! I bought some of the spombs a while back (at £1.68 each), they were fine up to around 10 wraps, any further and they snapped at the hinges, I now just keep them in the boot for emergencies 😅
Just came home from session with family. Biggest complaint about gear I have from my 8 year old son was handle length of conventional carp fishing gear. Already looking for similar rod you showed for him.
@aigarseglitis this is the rod I bought. May be a bit stiff for an 8 year old though is the only thing. Check out what I found on Wish! dl.wish.com/fcyK4
Awsome video Joe🎣 my first rod was a 3peace from car boot sale an used to buy terminal from carboots was cheap an done the job. that alarm sound 😂😂 sounds like a house alarm goin off😂
I'd bought the same solid bag kit but from Temu for my 4 night session at a new venue, just the same as the Fox, half the price. Helped me bank 3 x 30lb+ where my mates said I'd have nothing but bream!
Yep! The lead clip set looked suspiciously like the Fox ones. Different logo on the front, but the description on the back started, "Fox lead clips are designed..." 😂
Sports direct used to do a 'carp rod' for £11....i bought it for a laugh (and added an old £14 shakespere reel), ironically, I landed my PB of 32lb 4oz on that set up plus a few 20s haha.
My first rod was part of a Matt Hayes bundle 😂 was complete shite and the reels clutch went after a session. Caught so many tench on that bad boy tho can’t beat the memories
Very interesting review, I do enjoy your vids, I'm not a Carper so some of it's like another language to me, but still like watching the channel. ATB MMMD
Not all of it. Some of it really isn't that great but does the job. Would still prefer a coated hook for example or a spomb that holds more than a pinch 🤣
Was more a case of it has all done the job but if something was the break, which nothing has yet, it wouldn't break the bank. Snapping the tip of a £500 rod would hurt a lot more than a £15 rod 🤣
And why exactly should people not use them to get into fishing. My son is just starting fishing and instead of me buying expensive korda, Nash or fox setups for him, I bought home a cheap set from temu. It works and he has fun. Stop encouraging people to buy expensive equipment when only trying out a new hobby.
Why? For some end tackle bits it can be bang on. In a deal I got 300 anti tangle sleeves for a penny. A penny and they work just fine. I've had 50 swivels for 20p with carp to 30lb and cats to 40lb. They seem exactly like any I buy elsewhere. If you're clever you can get 60 quid of end tackle for 3quid. Then you set up a second account and do it again.

I get all my soft plastics of aliexpress. There probably made in the same factories as the trendy brands
Mate I have been researching the fact that slave labour is used to make a lot of thinks for the uk fishing industry like the cotton used in the cloths

Great video, just shows you don’t need to break the bank to fish ! Hopefully get more kids and beginners in to fishing and keep the sport alive.
Definitely 👌🏻🎣

Totally agree Lee Emery

For terminal tackle, it really is a good shout 👌🏻
Love the idea of affordable gear but I hope I don't ever hear a rape alarm at my go to venues 😂
Something we all hope for 🤣
Maybe the fish also need protection from politicians 😂
Good fun video Joe, enjoyed the watch.
Cheers Maff. 😁

Вы просто не знаете какие покупать. Есть такие классные которые карпятники покупают спортсмены. Надо знать места ищите прозрачные.

Can not find one. All I can find come with additional handle section below reel rest. Can you share a link?

My Abu Garcia vendetta has the same front tightening reel seat
Great video 👍🏻

Proof that the carp don't care one bit 😁 well done on the pb too 👌🏻
The boiler crush look the same as the korda1s except without korda1s stamped on it
Was slightly smaller too which I actually found easier to use 👌🏻
I've got a Korum barbel rod, and Korum 10' feeder rod, and both have a screw reel at the front the same as this rod.
Another comment told me that's how rods used to be. I never knew. First one I've ever come across anyway+
Another banging video mate 🎣
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
Lets go ive been waiting for this

Its the same stuff big brands sell. All made in China and rebranded.

Feeds micropellet and crushed boilie, is shocked when bream bite
Wasn't shocked and pretty sure I even referenced this 🤣
Some bits are worth it some bits not so much great little watch look forward to your next video

You need to do a temu gear video
That will be next 😉
I definitely used worse gear when forst got into carp fishing 😂
It's the eldest way though. Start on cheap stuff then work your way up 👌🏻

When will people start talking about the dark secret of slave labour used to pick the cotton for Chinese made clothing for the fishing industry
It's a false economy to buy cheap because you are paying twice. I would not buy anything that you then have to replace.
Was more a case of it has all done the job but if something was the break, which nothing has yet, it wouldn't break the bank. Snapping the tip of a £500 rod would hurt a lot more than a £15 rod 🤣
