- The History of the Ignatius-College!
Welcome to [PART 1] of this mini documentary about the Ignatius-College!
In this part, we will talk about the origin of the building, but the main subject is the Reichsschule für Jungen - Valkenburg (Limburg)
The Reichsschule für Jungen ( für Jungen = for boys ) was an elite Nazi school, established by the SS, in Valkenburg (Zuid Limburg) in the Netherlands, in 1942.
Together, we will explore the former Reichsschule, we will take a close and personal look on the outside, and inside!
I will tell you interesting stories, show you rare original pictures and footage, and discover forgotten locations!
We will travel back in time, and dive deep into the History, of the former Nazi school!
Join me, on this amazing trip back in time!!
Enjoy, and stay tuned for [PART 2]
With special thanks to Jos Schols - Het paradijs op aarde, for important pictures showed in the video, and thanks to Erik and Lucienne for allowing us on the property, and give us free access to the building whenever we want!

Greetings from Pennsylvania USA. As a kid (70-80's), my friends and I always played *war*. As I got older, I found myself really interested in War militaria. In 1986, I went to high school and I had the opportunity to take a German Language Class. Over three years of Deutsche class, my teacher (Frau Reist) recognized my interest in learning the language and about the culture. She would tell me many stories of pre, during, and post-war Germany. Her father was involved in the Hitler bombing at the Wolfs Lair Headquarters and was executed. She came to the US in the late 50's and had many stories of how she was treated here in the US being a German. I learned as a young man the prejudices and "casualties of war" on both sides. In one of your videos I heard you mention of how not all German soldiers were "Nazis" or believed in the Nazi ideology. Some were just proud soldiers, going to fight for their homeland. I have never got to go to Germany, and have forgot most of the language but when you speak, it reminds me of how she spoke English. I really enjoy the work you do making these videos. Thank you sir.
Very interesting story. I'm also from Pennsylvania. What school did you attend?
www.youtube.com/@HistoryWorldWar2Channel.
It broke my heart when you showed the school in it's deteriorated state and dimmed the music, so sad to see a beautiful piece of architecture go to waste!
The old Fahnenlied of German HJ was a beautiful song with a beautiful sentimental instrumentation.
Ze hadden er ook een AZC van kunnen maken...Dat was nog erger geweest!
@@88vincentvanmierlo nee dan werd het tenminste gebruikt
Someone needs to restore that entire place. It could be an excellent teaching tool, and of course has enough history to warrant restoring it.
Absolutely, needs to be restored before it's too late.
Yes restore the school, but to teach democracy and tolerance of peoples different from Germanic Peoples. And to teach it is just One Mankind,One Planet. We are all the same with different skin colours.
And make an AZC out of it? I rather saw it burn...
@@88vincentvanmierlo whatever dude. I can tell your not someone who is willing to change their opinion even if its stupid. Which is why i wont waste my time writing novel long comments about how dumb your comment is. Have a nice day and don't destroy history.
@@88vincentvanmierlo you’d rather see history burn just cause the people who occupied it were bad????? If so it’s a horrible reason. We should not destroy history good or bad
Oh wow. The quality and time taken to put this together is so amazing! I know that so many others like me appreciate your work so much. Thank you Nick
P
1 hour 23 minutes of HISTORICALLY CORRECT goodness!
Fantastic research and footage....as ever, thank you.
Thats not the Real History
Thta´s indoktrinie with Picture and Sound , not more
Dort waren überwiegend Holländischen Nationalsozialisten
Hey Nick! I’m a 14 year old from Australia who loves WW2. Watching your videos has made me want to become a collector and future reenactor! I am hoping I get a German uniform for Christmas so I can battle my mate who has an Australian uniform. Thanks for producing great videos.
You should also make an Australian WW2 outfit😉
Just be aware of the stigma attached to nazi era uniforms, not everyone can grasp the historical significance.
As soon as i saw new notificaton on youtube named history secret i imediately stopped doing my homework and started watching a video 👍😃😃
History Secrets is History Homework! 😉
Yeah same but I stop watching ww2 history hunter as soon as I saw it

School First, As Always!
Same for me
What a brrillian explore and comparison to time-period photographs, Nick! That building should be restored, it is too magnificent to be allowed to further deteriorate!!! So much history!!! Did you see the wavy windows on the top floor, indicative of 1800s window glass? Shame on the Germans for demolishing the fine old chapel, and replacing it with such a utilitarian structure! And such a shame all the recruits had to go into battle, such a great loss of promising youth!!! Thank you for sharing it with us, Nick! Cindy
As soon as I saw the notification, I clicked right away! Great video as always Nick!
Very impressive work. I was just on vacation in Valkenburg and came past this beautiful building and thought what a shame its just abandened. I had so many questions and you answered them all. Thank you.
It's such an odd feeling seeing photos and video of these locations back in the 1940s and comparing them to whats left there now. Just the idea of what went on there, and what these young boys were taught to do.. Its a lot. Great video, as per usual!
Even something as small as what part of the grounds they were stood at
Wow dit is echt meer dan ik had verwacht nick bedankt voor het leerzame vermaak ga zo door 👍
Love the documentary mate one of the best videos so far keep up with the good work
300 comments.... awesome Nick...congratulations on this awesome work. A shame the building is falling apart. A piece of history that will go forever.
I know how hard you worked on this and I wanted to congratulate you on it. As a loyal fan from America, I just wanted to say congratulations from America! Looking forward to the next video.
Excellent history video,I live in England and on a school trip we stayed in tents in valkenburg as it was central to visit Germany Holland and Belgium and this was in 1979. My first trip abroad. I loved it and have fantastic memories. You really make history interesting and perhaps you could do in the future battle videos of say,the Siegfried line or walk over old battlefields telling of their historical past. Please more of the same.
This is amazing, great job!
Here we go, looking forward to this one for a while.👍

During my University studies I had to interview a former SS volunteer who went to this school and lived in the city with his NSB family. Many years has passed since so he is probably not alive anymore.

Absolutely Stunning Work Work You Put In, This Surely Should Be On Netflix Or Amazon Because The Quality Is Top Notch! I'm Extatic For Part 2!
Its always a great day when Nick delivers a Great Video!
Nick....that was just amazing. You have really done a wonderful job. I too have the same thrill when I am in a place that has seen so much history take place....just to stand there and maybe even touch a piece of history, like you did touching the drain pipe and windows etc. So much happened in the same spot....the old tree that you have shown was there through it all!
Do you feel at times that you were there in the past? I don't know, but I have always felt I was there in WW2 and in the Wehrmacht. I feel comforted when I hear old German songs especially during the 1930's and 40's, and empathize what the common soldier in the Wehrmacht who was just doing his duty.
The world was different, and under the circumstances in the 1920's & 30's when despair was all around, the only hope was to follow the party. If only they had not gone ahead with their policy on Jewish extermination, it would have been very different, and the German Wehrmacht would have earned its respect in history.
Thank you for making such a touching video, which is filled with facts and just takes you back there....
Super amazing video Nick, can't wait for part 2!

I saw this notification in class and I was like yess history my fav channel so I had to watch right as I got home
Cool video!, but I am interested in your haunted house. Could you possibly do a investigation?
Watching now and u can already tell it's going to be great.
Great job Nick! This was so good and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for all your efforts and hard work in putting this together. Living in the USA it's because of content creators like yourself and so many others it truly gives us a way to fully understand the battles and historic places such as this and the historic meanings of what they represent that all our ancestors fought and died for. I'm not sure how much you realize how important the work that you do is, but for someone like myself who lives so far away and will probably never have the opportunity to see or experience the things that you show in your videos, I will always be grateful. Can't wait for Part 2! Happy Veterans Day All!
This was amazing. Pure history. Quality and excellence lacking on international media. Well done. As soon as I saw this pop up on my notifications I was overjoyed. When you upload, I drop everything I'm doing and watch your videos. Amazing job and and amazing adventure. Much success and hope to see a lot more like this. I mentioned it before, but you need merch. Or if you do, I'd like a link to buy and support you and your channel. Thank you for this. From one student of history to another, well done. Bravo. Cheers!

Thanks for the video Nick! I was about to rewatch Scarface for the 3rd time this week, glad I found this video on my front page instead. What an awesome location, really looking forward to part 2 :) Greetings from Bavaria
Wow I loved this very informative video. So interesting especially all the time it took to research the locations of certain rooms. What an honour it must have been to stand there where those leaders had stood and where the young boys had studied and eaten. Very sad that the building has remained empty and left to decay. Feel so sorry for the boys who were schooled there that were so indoctrinated and believed they were to be the future of Germania. And then ending up defending their Fatherland and dying at such a young age. My heart goes out to them and may all their souls RIP. The kids today would never take to be disciplined or to have manners like those kids. Just an amazing part of history explored and I can only say thank you for making and sharing this video. Well done. So well made. Captivating to say the least
I always enjoy the videos of History Secrets. Amazing Content that needs to be shared to all who enjoy History. Keep it up👏👏
Theo need to make a museum of this amazing building
