  • The History of the Ignatius-College!
Welcome to [PART 1] of this mini documentary about the Ignatius-College!
In this part, we will talk about the origin of the building, but the main subject is the Reichsschule für Jungen - Valkenburg (Limburg)
The Reichsschule für Jungen ( für Jungen = for boys ) was an elite Nazi school, established by the SS, in Valkenburg (Zuid Limburg) in the Netherlands, in 1942.
Together, we will explore the former Reichsschule, we will take a close and personal look on the outside, and inside!
I will tell you interesting stories, show you rare original pictures and footage, and discover forgotten locations!
We will travel back in time, and dive deep into the History, of the former Nazi school!
Join me, on this amazing trip back in time!!
Enjoy, and stay tuned for [PART 2]
With special thanks to Jos Schols - Het paradijs op aarde, for important pictures showed in the video, and thanks to Erik and Lucienne for allowing us on the property, and give us free access to the building whenever we want!

Greetings from Pennsylvania USA. As a kid (70-80's), my friends and I always played *war*. As I got older, I found myself really interested in War militaria. In 1986, I went to high school and I had the opportunity to take a German Language Class. Over three years of Deutsche class, my teacher (Frau Reist) recognized my interest in learning the language and about the culture. She would tell me many stories of pre, during, and post-war Germany. Her father was involved in the Hitler bombing at the Wolfs Lair Headquarters and was executed. She came to the US in the late 50's and had many stories of how she was treated here in the US being a German. I learned as a young man the prejudices and "casualties of war" on both sides. In one of your videos I heard you mention of how not all German soldiers were "Nazis" or believed in the Nazi ideology. Some were just proud soldiers, going to fight for their homeland. I have never got to go to Germany, and have forgot most of the language but when you speak, it reminds me of how she spoke English. I really enjoy the work you do making these videos. Thank you sir.

What a brrillian explore and comparison to time-period photographs, Nick! That building should be restored, it is too magnificent to be allowed to further deteriorate!!! So much history!!! Did you see the wavy windows on the top floor, indicative of 1800s window glass? Shame on the Germans for demolishing the fine old chapel, and replacing it with such a utilitarian structure! And such a shame all the recruits had to go into battle, such a great loss of promising youth!!! Thank you for sharing it with us, Nick! Cindy

Nick....that was just amazing. You have really done a wonderful job. I too have the same thrill when I am in a place that has seen so much history take place....just to stand there and maybe even touch a piece of history, like you did touching the drain pipe and windows etc. So much happened in the same spot....the old tree that you have shown was there through it all!
Do you feel at times that you were there in the past? I don't know, but I have always felt I was there in WW2 and in the Wehrmacht. I feel comforted when I hear old German songs especially during the 1930's and 40's, and empathize what the common soldier in the Wehrmacht who was just doing his duty.
The world was different, and under the circumstances in the 1920's & 30's when despair was all around, the only hope was to follow the party. If only they had not gone ahead with their policy on Jewish extermination, it would have been very different, and the German Wehrmacht would have earned its respect in history.
Thank you for making such a touching video, which is filled with facts and just takes you back there....

Wow I loved this very informative video. So interesting especially all the time it took to research the locations of certain rooms. What an honour it must have been to stand there where those leaders had stood and where the young boys had studied and eaten. Very sad that the building has remained empty and left to decay. Feel so sorry for the boys who were schooled there that were so indoctrinated and believed they were to be the future of Germania. And then ending up defending their Fatherland and dying at such a young age. My heart goes out to them and may all their souls RIP. The kids today would never take to be disciplined or to have manners like those kids. Just an amazing part of history explored and I can only say thank you for making and sharing this video. Well done. So well made. Captivating to say the least
