As for the video cutting short, I was flagged with a copyright claim. I allowed YT to splice out the end to resolve the copyright. About 10 seconds was spliced out.

I'm glad they have that option, though I must admit, I wish in cases like that they would let you reupload the same video in the same place in those rare cases, so you could do the edit yourself, remove the thing they flagged, and have it end proper.

Lol two weeks ago i was at a freshwater lake, and i accidentally got tons of water up my nose bc i miscalculated the depth while jumping.
After that i was a bit afraid, but you dont have to be.
Here are some things that are important if you stress about having amoebas eating your brain:
- all documented cases of this infection was in children below 16. Thats bc the amoeba has to literally eat its way to the brain from the nose, and as you grow up the tissue there gets harder to "eat through".
- infections are incredibly rare! Here in hungary the lake were i swam gets literally millions of ppl in it every week during summertime, yet no infections were ever recorded since we know about this amoeba.
Örülök hogy a Balcsiban nincsenek ilyen amőbák 😅
statistics never fail to relax me when I am afraid too :D

I actually went to a funeral last summer for a friend who died from this. He got it from using those nedi-pods for your sinuses. It went from thinking he had heat exhaustion on friday at work being flown to another facility that night, having neuro surgery then next day and having to pull the plug on a Sunday.

I once got water forcefully into my nose when I did a wrong move whilst sliding down a pool slide. I still vividly remember the days-long acute sinusitis from that episode, but that’s still nothing compared to whatever horrors this amoeba might’ve done. Good thing pools have chlorinated water!

Tap water is chlorinated. You're fine!
@@lukeheffernan what if it doesnt
I know you're probably alive rn but chat gpt says:
Brain-eating amoeba, scientifically known as Naegleria fowleri, can be found in warm freshwater environments such as lakes, rivers, and hot springs. However, it is very rare to find them in tap water, especially if the water is properly treated and maintained by a municipal water supply system. Municipal water treatment processes, such as chlorination and filtration, are designed to eliminate harmful microorganisms like Naegleria fowleri.
Still, in extremely rare cases where there are issues with water treatment or distribution systems, there could be a risk. It's important to follow local water quality guidelines and take precautions, such as not allowing water to enter your nose when using tap water for activities like nasal irrigation or swimming in warm freshwater. Checking with local health authorities can provide information specific to your area's water quality.
I’ve been using a Neti pot for years with tap water. I guess I’ll make a change to avoid a brain eating parasite

Once got infected. Poor thing died of hunger
ever since i watched this video, i think of this every time water gets in my nose. even if it's chlorinated water, or salted sea water, this knowledge lives inside me forever
So you were infected with knowledge?
Our water supply is chlorinated (and fluoridated) but I make sure to only use boiled water (for both cleaning and irrigation) with my Neti Pot.
I just use purified bottled water.
@@Cannicus_ AFAIK there are little to no regulations on bottled water beyond 'safe to drink'.
Many are tap water or just simply filtered (not all filters will stop amoeba sized things).
Boiling will kill almost everything.
@@LENZ5369 Boiling will not kill everything. That is a misconception. A lot of things can survive boiling (cysts etc). You need to boil it quite a while to ensure stuff gets killed/inactivated (depending on your water source)
@@baammm3871 "kill almost everything"

"A lot of things can survive boiling"
-That is actually false, the organisms that can survive aprox boiling water for any significant time are 'Hyper/Thermo-philes'.
They are rare -as far as I know; there are only a handful known and none are known to cause human illness (they can not survive in our bodies or in our water sources).

@@LENZ5369 When I said "A lot of things can survive boiling" I meant just bringing things up to a boil and turning off the heat. Which is why I mentioned you need to boil it for some time to ensure stuff gets killed. Doubt most people boil their water for more than a minute. Not that you need to do this unless your supply is suspect. Also I meant spores and not cysts. Haven't touched this since college.

1:17 That was a badass move.
Me watching this video trying to diagnose myself 💀
I need to stop being so paranoid...
I'm so glad you made a video about this cause this is something I never knew about and glad I know about
I was a synchronized swimmer when I was a teenager. I'm able to "plug" my nose (without my hands or any nose plugs) every time I go under the water, however, going upside down in the water is much, much harder to keep water out and I'm not quite sure why.
That's the reason why you'll see synchronize swimmers wearing nose plugs, it's nearly impossible to keep water out of your nose otherwise.
I love these videos I only wish there was more of them

A good thing to note is that it's most commonly found in warm RUNNING fresh water.

Title "Brain Eating Amoeba" can be misunderstood, as Brain is eating Amoeba.
Instead, Amoeba is eating brain.
No just learn English properly, nothing wrong with the title
Study english, stewie.
“Brain-eating” if you insist
This is kinda random but could you do a video on MMA/UFC fighter’s dehydrating themselves and weight cutting? What does something like that do to the body?
can it like go through the ear cause even the ear has a hole to get in and there must be at least some nerves in our ears? A severe doubt I wanted to clear up as I have researched this topic a lot nowadays so can I get help on doubt?
N.floweri are actually harmless to be honest. Their main job is to devour other microbes, once they find they turn into huge feeding size trozopian size kind of thing. And the reason why they feed onto your brain is because of olfactory nerves that are connected to your frontal lobe of the brain. It kinda reminds them of the "Scent" of microbes they like to eat, so always boil, sterilize, distilled or filter that block them.
How much salt do you have to add to the netipot water for those amoeba to die? Asking for my mom

My half sister's little brother actually got this and lived. Dead serious from Oklahoma.
I genuinely got scared watching this video, but it was so entertaining that I watched all of it, now I'm scared and informed :D
Most tap water here in the US has gone through a water treatment plant. Part of the process is light chlorination.
Yeah but this does not prevent the amoeba from living in standing water and in warmwater pipes.
But in general there are way more common and dangerous things that can develope in standing warm water pipes or tanks.
Here a hotel had a Legionella outbreak. Its a very nasty lung damaging bacteria.
It does not spread from human to human but contaminated water spreads its very easily.
wait so they are just in the fresh tap water wtf i thought they d filter those things out before getting the water back in the puplic system
This channel is awesome

This just goes to show you how vulnerable the human body really is kinda scary you can potentially die from water
This is misleading to say considering this parasite kills you from the inside, which is the most vulnerable part of any living being. Anything can kill you from the inside, even bears

Does it die once done eating?
i like how it cuts off.
You shouldn't use a netipot at all. It increases your risk of all kinds of infection, not just from amoebas.
