    Balloon framing is beneficial when building an end wall with no upstairs adjacent walls tied in. A long platform framed wall will sway if it's not tied in to an adjacent wall for support. This is compounded if the end is gabled and the room has a vaulted ceiling.

    Nope absolutely not. Chicago framing doesn't use hangers, everything is joined into the studs, combined with nails, ledgers and joined in braces.
