I believe this episode is slightly out of order in the "The Magnus Archives - The Complete Collection" youtube playlist. Its at position 69, instead of 71. [Nice!] Just in case anyone hadn't caught that, and wanted to fix it. :)
(no spoilers, please, first listen) This episode is furthering my theory that these entities crave fear, and those who don't fear it survive, but not in the regular sense... Jane P was scared at first, but it slowly turned to fascination, and eventually, she became one with it. Mary is the same way. She never feared any of it. She was fascinated, but she didn't become one with any particular entity because she said she didn't like to be tied down. I feel like the girl from this one might become one with the claustrophobia soon or something because from the vibes of it all, she isn't one with it yet. The ones who combine with the entities or become agents of it somehow have this unnatural understanding of it, more so than any regular person. Her statement doesn't have any noticeable obsessions with claustrophobia, nothing that gives the impression she's interested in the topic philosophically. She just got wrapped up in it somehow, with no real connection. Perhaps this is how Mary is allowed to be, she doesn't have an obsession with any fear or entity in particular, she just isn't afraid of any of them, allowing her to survive and encounter more of them. Though I have another theory that she is actually an agent of whatever the eyes are. All in all, this episode is really making me think about why certain people survive and others don't.
I think it’s due to the lack of fear in those moments. As soon as the victim finds a calm state of mind, the entities lose interest since they’re not being fed anymore. :)
Nice little detail, the very quiet cracking when she mentioned him looking up and his neck making noise, I almost thought I was hearing things until I went back a few seconds. The level of detail on these audios is incredible and I can definitely see why this series is so well-liked
GAWD THIS SERIES IS JUST SO SMARTLY WRITTEN EVERYTHING JUST TIES SO NICELY TOGETHER AND EVERYTHING IS CONSTANT FORESHADOWING AND JUST GHAAAAW I LOVE IT
Remember that one cult episode where the girl's friend said the girl was 'feeding it very well' and the only notable thing was how scared she was? And the Jane Prentis 'it steals fear'? Im guessing these events are at least some of them feed on distressing situations for people.
A lot of people are acting like she is the guy from Joshua from episode 2, but consider the fact that unlike nearly everybody else she is completetly damn near unfaced by it and Jon comments that she is dusty. Which is weird considering that its nearly three weeks since it happened to her. She has been marked by her experience.
Honestly the freakiest thing abt this statement is that there's so much dirt and grime, I'm so glad I carry a mask and hand sanitizer with me now, I'd hate to get stuck on a train like that just breathing in that stale dirty air 🤢
polish girl, haunted train... god, why does this sound like something that happened to me. im a student, and in winter last year i took a train to my hometown as winter break started. i woke up too early and had nothing to do that day so i just decided i'd arrive at the station early and chill there. i checked the board of arrivals and saw that my train was to arrive at a different platform than normal. granted, changes in schedule are not uncommon in poland, so of course nothing out of the ordinary here. i headed for the platform 40 minutes before i needed to and as i reached the top of the stairs, i saw a train very slowly arriving. it was my train, as indicated by the electronic display on the door. just 40 minutes early. suffice to say i was very confused. it was probably its first stop but why 40 minutes? maintenance in the middle of the station?? i was alone on the platform, save for one seated person that appeared unbothered by the early arrival. probably waiting for another train then. i decided to wait inside my car to sit without having to worry about the time. so i entered. there was no one inside, obviously, but it didn't help my growing confusion. that's when i noticed all of the electronic displays indicating the passenger's destination were turned off... save for mine. my display was occasionally blinking while displaying only "boot V4 57:24:22:39:92". now that... was unnerving. combined with the rest of the picture even more so. but what a good story it was! i took a picture of the electronic error/boot message, sat down in my seat and shared the story with my friends. not only because heck yes ghost train but also... so they would know where to look for me if anything happened. better safe than sorry, heh. but soon enough other passengers began to arrive and i reached my hometown without delays :) (yes, yes, i know, the most unrealistic thing - timely polish transport. my cities have probably the only connection in the entire country that works reliably istg) anyway so yeah i totally get the statement giver's uneasiness around the time of boarding.
I love how half the comments are praising Carolina for just falling asleep in the middle of a crisis and the other half of the comments are just speculating that she's just straight up dead
@cak01vej I'll keep my mouth shut, for now. Oh but do tell me if you've finish listening to it, I wanna share my thoughts with you. Happy listening (≧▽≦)
hey this statement was given on my birthday! :D Edit (vague spoilers i guess): I think i would have survived this too. From the moment she said she couldn't get out of there, i thought "just lay on the ground, close your eyes and try to relax! Stop feeding it, that's the best way to get out of there alive!" This might seem suspiciously specific to you, but i swear this is exactly what i thought. It's my first time listening, i just knew about the feeding thing.
So like is she possessed? She just seems so chill "oh yeah lemme just lie down and die- oop somehow i'm alive! That wasn't traumatic at all- Imma keep riding this train." and just dragging around dirt still??
Jon: someone's living down in the tunnels, I wonder who it could be Gee, I don't know Jon, maybe it's the girl that's been super fucking weird for weeks right under your nose, who you MET in the tunnels where she weirdly shapeshifted, I wonder if it could be her Jon
The way out of a lot of this liminal places seems to be kind of just calming yourself in some way (sometimes by accepting death). Like the dude stranded in space, or the traveler in the crowd-market or even customs person in the box. Just don't fight it, calm yourself until the thing is tired of you. They sure be grey-rocking them supernatural spaces.
My theory from this episode and what we know so far: So umm I guess there were more entities than what I listed in a previous episode's comment section.. This episode is about the underground, about basically being buried alive, so it sounds like this entity is the same as the one with the two sisters going cavediving. Only difference is, how the witness survived in each case. In the cavediving episode, I don't really get how the witness survived. I think it's most likely because of the "take her not me" phrase being said over and over again, though we don't know which one of the sisters was shouting it, since the witness said she could hear her sister somewhere so they were in a distance that both could be heard in the video if they were shouting. In this case, the witness escaped by not letting her being controlled by her fear and just accepting that what is to come will come. Now, this makes me think abit about two cases: 1) in the episode were we learn first about Prentiss, the witness was a male who slept with the woman who was attacked by Prentiss and in the end the woman dies and he burns his apartment. Now, after his statement he disappears, the Institute can't find him for a follow up, but in the episode where Michael contacts Sasha about helping them, the hive/worm person that Michael shows to Sasha and lets her kill on her own so she'll know that the CO2 is the one way to kill the worms is that man witness from the first episode of Prentiss. Which means that, originally, he was meant to be a victim of the worms, like the woman he slept with, but something happened in his case and instead he became a host of the hive entity himself. 2) Michael and that real estate woman who left the spiral maze but then was lured inside of it again. If we take in consideration the (1) I mentioned above and what happened here, I believe that Michael was once a human who was lured into the spiral maze in order to be a victim of it, but because, just like our witness in this episode, he decided to let it all be what it is and accepted his fate of dying there and didn't even try to do anything to protect himself from it anymore, he in the end became a part of the spiral entity itself. And I think that is what happened right here too. The witness didn't escape it, but instead "passed" a test of the ground/buried entity that she is compatible with it in order to become a part of it. And this theory does make sense for alot of cases were the witnesses are facing the entities alone but survive; in some cases it was hope but in some it was acceptance that made their supernatural journal end. And now you think about the cases before and see some tiny differences between them that make a big difference for the end result: the astronaut who stopped drinking and eating in order to die and the guy in that container ship that was left alone until a fog took him and his corpse being found 6 months later while his body was in the water for only 5 days; they were both encountered by the loneliness entity, and in first case the victim tried to die, which led to him escaping it, while in the second case the victim was found dead instead of just missing, so maybe he failed the test and was killed or he decided to take his life in order to end his torture. So, there is a difference between accepting the death that is coming your way and wanting to end your torture so much that you end up trying to end your life yourself. This theory though does make me worry about the witness in the "do not open" episode, Joshua.. did he also "passed" the test and became a part of an entity..? I mean, he mentioned alot of times that all that was happening to him became his everyday routine and he became used to it and kinda numb about it, something like he got used to the fear so it wasn't anymore something for him he couldn't handle.. is he, umm, is he okay..??
if jonathan meant it literally when he said she "left the place dusty" i think she definitely didn't manage to just "escape" the train without any consequences, it sounded like she's been marked or smt
Dont know if anyone has pointed this out, both the old man in the train and Karolina both disappeared into this eldritch train after they had some kind of harsh argument or fight with someone else. A pattern maybe?

(no spoilers, please, first listen)
This episode is furthering my theory that these entities crave fear, and those who don't fear it survive, but not in the regular sense...
At 6:51 rn and I love this girl with all my heart
karolina is the embodiment of the gen z spirit
These monsters seem to give up whenever someone goes/acts unconscious 👀👀👀
I think it’s due to the lack of fear in those moments. As soon as the victim finds a calm state of mind, the entities lose interest since they’re not being fed anymore. :)
I got the impresstion she actually died down there or something.
@@TheNitpickChick yep once they throw everything they got at you and if they didn't feel like killing you, no point in continuing
Nice little detail, the very quiet cracking when she mentioned him looking up and his neck making noise, I almost thought I was hearing things until I went back a few seconds. The level of detail on these audios is incredible and I can definitely see why this series is so well-liked
GAWD
THIS SERIES IS JUST SO SMARTLY WRITTEN
EVERYTHING JUST TIES SO NICELY TOGETHER AND EVERYTHING IS CONSTANT FORESHADOWING AND JUST
GHAAAAW
I LOVE IT
Love this girl, she realized that she'd probably die and she went "snnnrnrrrr mimimimi"
Tma goal achieved : listen to this episode while in the tube
That moment when you fall asleep on a supernatural train so relatable omg yes I do that too
homegirl really went "guess I'll die ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
Previous guy was afraid of death. This girl straight up accepts her fate. Ironically, he's probably dead, while she lives.
Wasn't there something else underneath St Pancras? I need a pin board to keep track of everything
Remember that one cult episode where the girl's friend said the girl was 'feeding it very well' and the only notable thing was how scared she was? And the Jane Prentis 'it steals fear'? Im guessing these events are at least some of them feed on distressing situations for people.
Carolina: Guess I'll just lay here and die.
Creature: Wut. Where's the fun in this? >:/ LEAVE!!!
Also, I'm happy Jon is accepting help. :D
Honestly the freakiest thing abt this statement is that there's so much dirt and grime, I'm so glad I carry a mask and hand sanitizer with me now, I'd hate to get stuck on a train like that just breathing in that stale dirty air 🤢
polish girl, haunted train... god, why does this sound like something that happened to me.
im a student, and in winter last year i took a train to my hometown as winter break started. i woke up too early and had nothing to do that day so i just decided i'd arrive at the station early and chill there. i checked the board of arrivals and saw that my train was to arrive at a different platform than normal. granted, changes in schedule are not uncommon in poland, so of course nothing out of the ordinary here. i headed for the platform 40 minutes before i needed to and as i reached the top of the stairs, i saw a train very slowly arriving. it was my train, as indicated by the electronic display on the door. just 40 minutes early.
suffice to say i was very confused. it was probably its first stop but why 40 minutes? maintenance in the middle of the station?? i was alone on the platform, save for one seated person that appeared unbothered by the early arrival. probably waiting for another train then. i decided to wait inside my car to sit without having to worry about the time. so i entered. there was no one inside, obviously, but it didn't help my growing confusion. that's when i noticed all of the electronic displays indicating the passenger's destination were turned off... save for mine. my display was occasionally blinking while displaying only "boot V4 57:24:22:39:92".
now that... was unnerving. combined with the rest of the picture even more so. but what a good story it was! i took a picture of the electronic error/boot message, sat down in my seat and shared the story with my friends. not only because heck yes ghost train but also... so they would know where to look for me if anything happened. better safe than sorry, heh. but soon enough other passengers began to arrive and i reached my hometown without delays :) (yes, yes, i know, the most unrealistic thing - timely polish transport. my cities have probably the only connection in the entire country that works reliably istg)
anyway so yeah i totally get the statement giver's uneasiness around the time of boarding.
I'm so proud of Jon for actually waiting until he gets help this time, good on him
I love how half the comments are praising Carolina for just falling asleep in the middle of a crisis and the other half of the comments are just speculating that she's just straight up dead
She is so detached that I suspect she might be one of not!them somehow
Maybe not cuz when the not!them records their voices, like Not!Sasha and Michel, there was always a static in it.
@cak01vej I just reached the latest update and oh boy I was wrong, thanks btw
@cak01vej I'll keep my mouth shut, for now. Oh but do tell me if you've finish listening to it, I wanna share my thoughts with you. Happy listening (≧▽≦)
Nah she's just typical gen z
I think about this episode every single time I get on the Victoria line 😢
St. ... Pancreas?
England be like that
Perhaps a callback to Mr. I Remember The Feel Of A Pancreas
No, It's a St Pancras, actually.
1:30 " (saint) pancreas "
that made me giggle for some reason. xD
huh... she "Guess I'll Die"d so hard that the thing just let her go... fascinating.
the buried really has a hard time killing people with the coffin guy who refused to open it and this lady
I don't have claustrophobia at all, but while being sick and having a blocked nose this hits twice as hard
hey this statement was given on my birthday! :D
Edit (vague spoilers i guess): I think i would have survived this too. From the moment she said she couldn't get out of there, i thought "just lay on the ground, close your eyes and try to relax! Stop feeding it, that's the best way to get out of there alive!" This might seem suspiciously specific to you, but i swear this is exactly what i thought. It's my first time listening, i just knew about the feeding thing.
i loved her matter of fact attitude.... told statement so quick n neat ...
Goddamnit, St. Pancras was one of G.G. Scott’s works, no wonder it was a Buried domain.
Holy crap, that's some really good detail!
So like is she possessed? She just seems so chill "oh yeah lemme just lie down and die- oop somehow i'm alive! That wasn't traumatic at all- Imma keep riding this train." and just dragging around dirt still??
Jon: someone's living down in the tunnels, I wonder who it could be
Gee, I don't know Jon, maybe it's the girl that's been super fucking weird for weeks right under your nose, who you MET in the tunnels where she weirdly shapeshifted, I wonder if it could be her Jon
shes so chill about the fact she was going to be crushed to death
The way out of a lot of this liminal places seems to be kind of just calming yourself in some way (sometimes by accepting death). Like the dude stranded in space, or the traveler in the crowd-market or even customs person in the box. Just don't fight it, calm yourself until the thing is tired of you. They sure be grey-rocking them supernatural spaces.
Love that comment on the late night underground lines, definitely don’t take those late night trains regularly
This girl has no fear. Just chill.
We need more if her in horror movies.
A guy with a shovel at 2:58? Could it have been?
DIG
My theory from this episode and what we know so far:
So umm I guess there were more entities than what I listed in a previous episode's comment section.. Now, this makes me think abit about two cases:
1) in the episode were we learn first about Prentiss, the witness was a male who slept with the woman who was attacked by Prentiss and in the end the woman dies and he burns his apartment.
Idk why I decided to listen to this while on the train 😂
if jonathan meant it literally when he said she "left the place dusty" i think she definitely didn't manage to just "escape" the train without any consequences, it sounded like she's been marked or smt
Dont know if anyone has pointed this out, both the old man in the train and Karolina both disappeared into this eldritch train after they had some kind of harsh argument or fight with someone else. A pattern maybe?
Oh this is where the polar express goes in the summer
I hope we get another episode with her in it.
I think I have claustrophobia now 😃 always gotta trust tma to give you new fears 10/10 highly recommend
This girl was so funky lmao she just straight up accepted her death and fell asleep bahahaha. Also… could it be Sasha living in the tunnels??? Idk it’s a hunch that’s probably wrong, but I can’t think of who else it could be
I really taugth "they wont know abouth my very specific fear of getting cruched by a train" W R O N G
"Only last night I found myself lost
by the station called King's Cross
Dead and wounded on either side
You know it's only a matter of time"
I knew even though Karolina has polish name, the actress isn't, bc I can always clearly understand my ppl speaking English, while British natives are a challenge to understand
Moral of the story: sleep if a demon tries to crush you
this lady gives zero shits and I deeply respect that
"Someone is living in the tunnels."
Oh if only you knew Jon.
scuse me
scared first time listener noises
first time listener, i am so scared and hyped
Oh honeys....
The first time listener are all on edge. You are all making it sound like satan is down there. Knowing this podcast though it's probably worse
Weird theory but what if it is Sasha living in the tunnels? It would make a little sense
Mysterious comment of the day
Buried
the buried. i guess thats also lost johns cave. Originally i thought that was the spiral or the fairchild thing of distorting space, but it make more sense as an opposite force, making space smaller.
Some people might say my life is in a rut, but I'm quite happy with what I got...
I'm hungry
