- Jennifer Harris says FedEx human resources allowed managers to retaliate against her. FedEx denies her claims despite her subsequent termination.
Good for her. Too many corporations allow racism to continue even after their knowledge of it.
Everyday.
Yeah my brother worked for fedex and some of the stuff he told me was unbelievable. The abuse he endured, I swore he had to be lying. He eventually walked off & quit when he got a government job. After watching all these other cases, I see he was telling the truth

Ups is brutal too
Hey all, going thru the same thing myself in NYS ... a co-worker & myself were told we had to cut our dreadlocks off, he did, I refused & was denied a promotion that went to someone w/ ZERO relevant experience so I filed a NYS division of human rights case & I am now alleging that I was terminated for it because I was suspended the very same day I alerted management that it was me & terminated a week later.
It's not the company, it's the ppl in it.
OMG off fax it's not the company is the people that they allow and ignore when running it
True facts
@vernalittle9953its both
They messed around and found out...
Sad part is they still insist that her termination was right. She made you money and you let her go! She had every right to feel like burning the place down but filed with HR, they retaliated she sued.
She only got her job and promotions for being black though.
@@lauraboor6440 That maybe true but you can't retaliate and fire her for that! That is just ANOTHER PROBLEM that occurs all the time at FEDEX SUCKS, it is a VERY VERY RACIST company! 😁😱🤪🤣👍👍🇺🇸
@@lauraboor6440 Racist pig. How do you know? These people huh? Go to fckn sleep. Your world is done. You are mad this won’t last forever. And one day you will serve so bow down.

@@cl9315 where were her facts? But I do. Just look at how badly the companies that employ them are doing; look at the police departments and cities that have them in charge . Just work with them and see. Now this is about Libs who are black. Republican ones tend to be very smart Look at the lower scores and grades compared to others. So you really think blacks don't get into college and get jobs because they are black. Hahahahaha. Then no need for Affirmative Action right? I mean I have e-mails of crops saying they are hiring only blacks and news stories too. Colleges admit this.
$365 Million judgement
Im going through this right now with fedex. They are trying to settle out of court. After seeing whst she got in rethinking whst i should settle for because i an sueing for more then just retaliation and discrimination
Man at least you got an attorney I can’t find a lawyer.
This is great! Fight for what is right!
A $2M judgement would be "right" --- not $365M.
@@edh6096No $365M sends a message. I would have voted for a billion. FedEx has unlimited amount of dollars.
No amount of money will repair the emotional harm she endured. Unfortunately, defendants will never admit wrong doing and simply say the jury got it wrong.
Ask how bad it is for FedEx ground contractors, all of them have stories that would end up in lawsuits that they would win because of how bad it is.
What are the names to these attorneys?
I wanted to know the same thing and found them. I contacted them about 3 months ago and they were filled with cases. My case was solid like hers that goes back 25 + years of no promotions for Black women.
@@unityaboriginelove6595thanks for sharing
FedEx managers always retaliate and they collude to cover retaliation. I worked there for 3 years. Some managers also set you up and then write you up for the setup.
We all know what corporate HR and corporate employment counsel are about. They work for the CEO and the board to maximize the bottom line. Of course, they want to put up a straight face and appeal. They released that statement for public relations reasons or, put plainly, to minimize the damage to their bottom line. Good for her, and good luck with the law suit.
With all the instances of discrimination still prevalent in employment I believe this subject needs to be brought back up and the rules we already have and tools available as Phil Scott of Vermont said need to be sharpened. It tools and best practices such as disparate impact or adverse impact were more widely known as employers and for businesses, we would definitely have less of this unintended discrimination that we keep seeing
Please elucidate. What is "unintended discrimination"?
Almost similar thing happened to me at GE, first they attempted to fudge my performance but when that did not work they shuffled the team and closed my position.
Wow..I hope you filed with the TWC Civil Rights Division. I think it's better to go through them instead of EEOC
@@unityaboriginelove6595 I moved on, I did not find it is worth the trouble.
She was saying before they cut her off. When you know there is an active discrimination going on, Give it your best shot and fight !! Bravo !

Why is punitive a damage Awards like this so hard for people to understand? I agree in a lot of these cases that the people may not be deserving of these outrageous Awards but that is not the point a punitive award against the defendant should not be taken as something that the plaintiff deserved it's punitive punishment.
It's like the punitive award over the McDonald's Hot Coffee case people just cannot understand that award for hot coffee I bet you more would if it was their grandmother that got burned and then they found out that McDonald's had been fined and warned about their corporate greed 193 times but continue to brew their coffee at scalding temperatures all in an effort to squeeze every penny out of every grain of coffee.
@B .... We Americans understand "punitive damage awards." We think $2 Million would be plenty "punitive .... not $365 Million, which is jury-authorized THEFT.
Clown, the award comes from tax payers unlike yourself!!
ummm...coffee is supposed to be made with boiling water...
Hey baby. Let's be BFF's. LOL

Its amazing how will you have done despite your feelings getting hurt. You still were sucess worker.
Do she need a husband or maid??
How come it costs more for a single person to attend an event than couples …?
Thank you for posting this case. 12nov22
A max of $2M would be appropriate. $366M is totally totally totally wrong and confiscatory. Even if she were run over by a FedEx truck, the damages would only be about $2M max, and (don't bother disagreeing) I know that being run over is way worse than long term "bias" and "discrimination" and improper "firing."
@@edh6096 $2m wouldn't be very punitive for a company that makes billions every year. But I agree there's no way she'd make that much money in her career unless she became another disgustingly rich executive. Maybe that was possible with all the company awards she won?
How well spelled it wrong.
Yet, companies keep the bad managers and fight the victims of discrimination...Ridiculous.
They should do a sting and place a informer in these companies and hold these managers personally liable in addition to the companies.
Don't know if any of you kept up to date on this, but after FedEx appealed, the appeals court reversed the judgment and said that she was only entitled to $249,000. So unfortunately, FedEx ended up winning this one. Appeals court said she wasn't entitled to punitive damages.
Wow..thanks for the update so after paying her attorneys, she probably ended up with a lot less. So sad.
I'm glad you won!

kenneth m hoyt black judge (former judge, now enjoying retirement ) .
Its corporate greed bottom line. Obviously those awards didn't mean jack. She was threatened the suits yacht money hence cheap awards.
There is nothing of significance in this story that can persuade an objective person. Maybe the court transcript has something significant?

Kind of a"woke" move in my opinion. American traditions rule.

In Alabama the law says that a person can be fired for any reason.
@@Plantmom1 No you can be fired for any reason other than the protected class but they can find a way around that like my former employer did me.
@liberalculler5087 yep, and my former employer took it and ran with it.
365 million dollars for what ?? , what kind of a jury was this , ?? FedEx you need to lawyer up with some top brass lawyers and appeal this, something ain't right. How is it discrimination anyway?
Exactly why she will continue to win in life. She knew what it was. You don’t have to go through that even though you are just like who fired her.
@@autumnseptember4635 It says Discrimination, what does that mean to you? I need proof that she was treated differently Because of her Race or Gender. Not that she was terminated and happens to be a Black Woman. NO that is not Discrimination.
@@JKB3670 maybe you should go to the court proceedings since you "need proof..." Black people know of a thing called "financial discrimination" aka jealously/envy by the likes of the less-melanated. I remember being told to never drive a better car than your boss. The hate is real.
Discrimination can cover a lot, race, gender, successful or not, work ethic, age, complainers v non complainers to HR which seems to be what the discrimination was… push an issue through HR and they look for a reason to fire you over solving the problem, so that’d be my angle guess, which does match FedEx work environment. But that is apt of doe, but what else deters that behavior? Nothing to big corps.
It wasn’t the jury it was the judge. The suit for wrongful termination was denied but what got FedEx was retaliation. Don’t retaliate! We all should be able to report unethical behavior and not be threatened!
Yes, hiring minorities is such an asset to companies! Exhibit 1025

Do dmb shtx as a business, pay the price ho
Affirmative action gave her those awards.
You wish that actually worked.
Incredible that other people think WE DO NOT WORK HARD AND GET AWARDS. The only reason she did was not due to Affirmative Action. She excelled at the highest level performance. No one just gave her recognition without doing an excellent job. That comes with being at work, working longer hours, timeliness, production, a go getter, dressed professionally, exceptional work ethics and more.
My job I excelled won awards Top Performer End of Year Quarter. I Won 3 x top performer along with that was Thousands of dollars. An award ceremony trip Playa del Carmen, Los Cabos Mexico,, Palm Springs California, and bring a friend or family member all paid expenses with airfare wherever your guest lived was flown in to meet at ceremony for FREE. Everything each month had to be 💯 and better. So, I do understand not everyone at a business will be on your side envious of your accomplishments. Happy for her to not allow what was being done and stated was just swept under the rug. She didn't deserve to be mistreated, disrespected and she made FedEx a lot of money. I'm sure a lot
Please! Education, hard work and determination earned her those awards! Please go educate yourself and quit spreading your ignorance!

It's ironic that without racist attitudes like yours, affirmative action would never have been necessary in the first place.
Fedex is scared to death of being accused of racial discrimination. Probably why she was able to be promoted so many times and got so many awards. The way she talks she sounds rarted and her fake hair is ridiculous. Fedex is in the right here.
You are white to say that there is alot prejudice in this land that it was stole by indigenous
if theyre scared of racial discrimination why would they fire her?
Nah fedex wanted to replace her with someone cheaper. They wanted her to take a lesser-paying job before they decided to fire her. She may have hit the jackpot by being fired since fedex had some layoffs recently.

An award from FedEx? An award in the 1st grade has more meaning than that garbage.
And here I thought I was the only one being harassed by this company. Mind you I have never worked for them or even cared about this abusive company. But yeah they like to bully / intimidate people. I think with me it started because ( many years ago while I was out mindind my business doing errands etc.) I would notice their vehicles a little too much while being out sort of like they were going out of their way just to get notice by me. But at the time I really didn't knew what was going on, so just like when you go and make a complaint at a store about a bad product, service etc. I first contacted this companys customer services about this and got ignored, then I typed at a websites comment section that it was suspicious that their vehicles kept trying to cross the paths regularly and at the same time as if it was being done on purpose for harassment. And from thereits like they got mad and started to do it more. Which is absurd because if someone was stalking somebody else and they call them out on it the person being stalked is justified to complain because their rights / privacy is being infringed upon by the one/s doing the stalking. But apparently this abusive company feels it gets done wrong if someone complains about their abuses done by them or their vehicles. Also "maybe" their drivers "may" may not ahve anything to do with the harassment. But there sure is someone working for them, coordinating those vehicles to "coincidently" cross your path at the same time as you or send vehicles where you are at, walking driving etc. for harassment purposes.
