    Honestly, I think the 2002 New Jersey Nets might've been better than what basketball "historians" tell us. I was only 2 when they went to The Finals so I obviously have no direct memory of their run, I just always heard how bad of a Finals team they were...but they went up against the Kobe and Shaq Lakers.
    Jason Kidd was absolutely a superstar with the Nets tho, that I know

      Historians tend to not be much better than casuals, judging a team like the '02 Nets based on how they did in the finals and not their season as a whole. Those Nets were an OUTSTANDING team (bc of JKidd of course) who just happened to run into prime Kobe and Shaq. It happens, just like the early 90's Knicks: great teams that won't get any credit from the "experts" simply because every year they ran into some guy named Michael Jordan. Anyway, replace those two Lakers with someone like Latrell Sprewell and Alonzo Mourning (both great players but definitely no Kobe and Shaq), and the Nets win that series running away.

    Most underrated carry jobs in NBA history is Jason Kidd taking the Nets to back to back Finals appearances as that team's only All Star. Everyone always remembers Allen Iverson doing it the year before in 2001, and they talk about how bad his Sixers team was, but unlike Kidd, Iverson wasn't even the only All Star on his team that season, Mount Mutombo was also an All Star for the Sixers that season.

    • @Manolo8988
      @Manolo8988 4 месяца назад

      Being an all star is by voting mutombo was far from his prime
      The eastern conference was weak during the 2000s

    • @imdbtruth
      @imdbtruth 4 месяца назад

      @Manolo8988 Mutombo was an All Star that season (2001) for good reason. Mutombo led the NBA in Rebounds per Game at 13.5, while also chipping in 12 PPG, and 2.7 Blocks which was 5th in the NBA. *Contrast that with Kidd who at 6'4" had to lead his team in Points, Rebounds, Assists, and Steals during the Nets first Finals run.*
      The Sixers traded Theo Ratliff, who was also named an All Star that season, to acquire Mutombo from Atlanta, so they could make a Finals run. Mutombo would also make the All Star team with the Sixers the following season in 2001-02.
      Debunked.

    Jason Kidd doesn’t get enough recognition, he unfortunately ran into the juggernauts of the 2000’s back to back years in the finals but he was just as good as Nash in his prime I just wish he would’ve gotten to the mavs a couple years sooner mavs could’ve actually won the 06’ finals if Kidd was on the team but at least he got himself one before retiring
