Melomakarona are a greek treat we make traditionally in Christmas time. There is no Christmas without melomakarona!
and curambiedes or Kurambiedes? kisses from Argentina.
Yes. Year round. Never be without them.
@@Agapy8888I'm not going to wait for Christmas to make these, but I think they would be perfect for Easter as well.
@@larsedik
Perfect. They are so delicious.
I also leave them plain. No syrup for folks who are on low carb diet
Melomakarona is the absolute love symplegma of honey, orange, cinamon, clove and walnut !!!
Oh and o fuckin lot of oil. Holy mother of god that is a fuckin lot of oil! Anyway. gonna try it this year
fotman1234 symplegma! Υπάρχει στα αγγλικά; Και να υπάρχει δε νομίζω να το καταλαβαίνουν πολλοί.

Oh my goodness, I'm in the U.S and I just recently found you. In love! Thank you!
Greetings from Albania Akis😍
I tried this recipe today and they are veryyy delicious. I always wanted to cook these, but didn’t know how, until I found your channel.
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I suggest everyone to try it.
You will not be disappointed ☺️
Keep it up with the great work😊😍
YASOU !All the way from New York! Love your channel. Efxaristo !!!
This recipe reminds me so much of traditionel turkish cookies called kalburabasti!:)) Turkey and Greece have very similiar cuisines, as a turk I love greece and greek food:)) great channel!
The melomakarouna came out fantastic!!! I followed exactly to the gram, changed nothing! Delicious!!👍🏻👍🏻
Was it juicy inside??
@@muneebamubeen4671 should be juicy, alot juicy,,, if not are mistake,,, then that u made
how much honey you put in he doesn't mention it
Great Video, quick and well explained. Very good easy to understand with no extar bla,bla,bla...👍
We just got back from Greece. We had these cookies and fell in love with them. We made them today and they turned out just like the ones we had in Athens. Thank you for recipe.
Bravo Akis! Your recipe is the best one online that I've come across. Great instruction too! The semolina is key. I also like to add a little Cognac to the dough, but unlike you (and so many others on RUclips)--I just toss everything into my Kitchenaid and the dough comes out perfect ever time. Even if it's not perfect (sometimes a little on the dry side), it really doesn't matter b/c they get dipped in the honey/orange/lemon rind/cinnamon stick syrup... Just made them for my Serbian family and everyone loves them. Kali orexi to all!
My Yaiyai use to make everything from scratch or fresh, this recipe was one of them as a kid she had a whole tub of them and i would eat a ton straight away haha, they are just too good.
I saw this on your Greek channel and I really wanted to make it and now this English video makes it so much easier!!
I onced had a similar recipe. But this one Akis.... I just made them and they are mind-blowing.
Huge thumbs up for this one!
Thanks for sharing it in English!!
Χρονια πολλα, νασαι καλά!
I did this as well, but half of the quantity. Also, I reduced the amount of sugar, as it was a bit too much. Also, I added a twist to the recipe: ground ginger. I know it's not Christmas in May but with this recipe and the lockdown it's just like in December. Goes well with mulled wine.
Thanks Akis for the recipe! I love Greek cooking!
Have you halved the syrop ingredients too? Good job!
I'VE HAD THESE PLENTY OF YEARS AND THEY ARE BANGING!
Ευχαριστώ πολύ! I hope my Γιαγιά will be proud when she tries them this year!
I love making and eating these delightful Greek cookies. Sometimes I buy them from a Greek restaurant. They freeze well too.
These look better than my moms I am going to make these cookies and surprise my Greek family !
Pati Manos oo

hello to you too!!!

From romania I send all the best for you and your family.i made it today melamakaroma, this recipe reminds me of grecce,so soft,so tastefull , so easy to do essence of Grecce, thnks for your hard work and for sharring us your recipes,
Ella! My mouth is watering like crazy. I love these cookies!!!! I worked w/ Greek girls for many years and they had me loving them! I never realized how hard to was to make them!!! I DO make good Glalaktoburiko though... :) Thank you so much for your demonstration!!
Glalaktouburiko (the Greek custard dessert) is the most difficult dessert to make. If you can make that, cookies will be easy peasy.
did u marry one of them to continue the long steady flow of them?
Just made them with success. Thanks for sharing. A small comment. When the first set of, say 20 of them, comes out of the oven, dipping the first couple of them in the syrup goes according to plan. However after 4 or 5 have gone into the liquid, the syrup is not anymore cool. Yet you can't wait for it to cool down again as the cookies have to be soaked while warm. So an alternative would be to either separate the liquid in parts or better shower them from the top... (?)
Put the syrup in the fridge. In this way, it becomes cool faster and you won't have to wait for 4 hours. The syrup will be cold by the time you prepare and bake the cookies. Plus, in this way, no matter how many hot cookies you dip inside the syrup, its temperature won't rise up too much. :)
There is an alternative to this.
Me and my mom have done it this way for years and thought Akis was crazy for doing it the other way around.
We let the cookies cool down, and dunk them into the warm syrup. We find this way works better because the cookies have a less chance of crumbling, and the warm sryup seeps it's way into the cookies. The cookies absorb it weither they are cold or warm.
Just remeber:
Cold syrup, warm cookies.
Warm syrup, cold cookies.
That's the only two ways it will work. So, if your cold sryup ever gets warm, try it out! Let the cookies get cool, then warm up the sryup on the stove top. Although they might take 2 hours to cool down.
So yea fridge is best bet if you already went the cold sryup route.
Every Year i'm going to prepare Melomakarona and Kourabiedes. This Year i'll choose your Recipes :-D
I will make them this christmas so wish me luck!
Was it good?

Your melomakarona look like my Greek mom's and I like that you measure ingredients by weight. I don't have a single written recipe from my mom and I have to cross-reference and use my memories to cook like her, so this is very helpful.
thank you so much, soooooo yummy and god bless you my love, I love melomakorona
Just made them and they came out fantastic. Everyone loved them. Only one thing I only dipped them in the syrup for 2-3 seconds, otherwise they fell apart.

I tried the recipe and cookies turned out very delicious. Thank you for sharing it
Love your recipes. Could you provide the conversion from grams to lbs. or cups as I am in the USA? just want to make sure that I measure correctly. Can you freeze 1/2 of the dough and use it at a later time? Also, what Greek desserts do you recommend to make for a crowd (at least 15 persons) for Greek Easter? Thanks you so much. Efxaristo. Kalo Paska!
So lovely. Thanks, I'll try it as soon as possible
Your english accent is lovely. 🖐 and tasty cookies

Aki, I grew up in USA and not very good in Greek language. My question is, when you bake with "στον αέρα", do you mean convection oven? Thank you so much, stay safe
Yeah, thats what he meant. (Of course with fan ON)
