Finally we have heat in the static caravan, it's beginning to feel like 🏡 home. Dave did a wonderful job fitting our recycled log burner. Next job is the solar power! ☀️☀️☀️☀️

Well done, i'll be putting one in my static shortly and another one with back boiler, hot water tank and radiators in the shed / man cave. i'll be using a smoke pellet test first just in case as trying to put one out in a room full of smoke isnt fun and then living with that smell. ive got to get anti-wind cowls on mine as i'm up in the Highlands

Hi, I’m just going through the process of buying a stove for a new conservatory I’m having built and the Aga Little Wenlock was one of my options but I ruled it out because (and I must state that I am not a qualified Hetas registered engineer) it wasn’t suitable to mount it on a 12mm hearth. Please check the building regulations and make sure you are safe. Any stove that throws out more than 100 degrees from the bottom of it must have something like a 250mm hearth made of a non combustible material but you can reduce that if you introduce an air gap. Don’t know your set up and I don’t profess to know the regs 100% but I ruled out the Aga because even though it was being installed on a concrete slab there will be insulation (think Grenfall) only a couple of inches below. Hope I’m being helpful and if I am wrong I apologise but look into it if you haven’t already.

Hi, looks good! But I'm a gas man and I work on lots of holiday caravans in Cornwall, it looks like you have covered the ventilation holes behind the original gas fire, for solid fuel appliances you need the correct ventilation to provide sufficient air for safe combustion, did you get the instructions with the stove it will give you the required ventilation size in square cm's, you should also have a working CO alarm. I see literally dozens of summer spec vans with the vents blocked to keep warm in winter, I hate to be the party pooper but with lots of people "converting" Van's to use solid fuel it's not going to be long before we get some CO incidence.
    Sorry if this sounds alarmist.

551moley that's great advice, we do have the co alarm all set up , done ✅ as for vents, really appreciate your advice we will take it on board and it some in. There are vents already around the whole static, but we will certainly put more in by the fire if you think that would be right. Unfortunately, I'm not sure our paperwork for the fire says about the ventilation required, but we will double check. Thanks again, much appreciated.
UPDATE: We have three air vents either side of the fire, so all should be good :)

Hey Dave ! Just something to consider..If you are using anything galvanised be carefull when it gets hot it can give off dangerous emissions. Good luck ..;)

I love what you two are doing, we would love to do something similar but have no idea how to start. We have just turned 50 and only have approximately £80k to make a start. Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated. Sick to death of city life, sirens and traffic jams, willing to work really hard for the ourselves and peace.

Hi, it was actually given to us from a friend. We only purchased the rubber seal from a log burner specialist in IPSWICH.
