Beautifully explained, thank you! I started learning Japanese because I like singing Japanese songs (I feel like they have deeper meaning than most modern songs in my country), so the phonetical aspect is crucial for me. どうもありがとうございました!
I recently found you channel and your content is great, thank you! I wish more people used IPA, it helps so much - especially with language like English. Personally, I find pitch accent much harder to learn than articulation, so I would really appreciate if you also mark the down-step in pitch accent.
Your content is amazing brother! Don't know how I never discovered this earlier, but I am so glad that I was led here now. Thank you so much for your help!
Your videos are so good.. I am a passionate learner of japanese and currently majoring in linguistics. I really love how simple and informative your videos are ❣️ receive love from India. I would make sure to suggest this channel to my classmates. 🦋
I am watching your videos about vowels and consonants pronunciation. I feel that the theory and explanations are easy to understand. However, I haven't found any practice exercises on Japanese phonetics. If I want to have the best possible pronunciation, do you think it makes sense to practice pronunciations of kanas, vowels and consonants for better clarity? Could you recommend anything? Or better record some kind of drill?
@@campanasdejapanese Found your channel (and hiragana writing series) after 3 years since they've born :) Immediately felt in love how easy and informative your videos are. And also looking for katakana series since I'm learning hiragana and katakana together. I also understand that view count may be underwhelming. But It same story as Picasso unfortunately - a lot of young generations will appreciate your work later in the future, but you barely can monetize it right now :(
These fundamentals of IPA specifically for Japanese is so underrated. Thanks for making my learning slimpler.

Thank you so much for making this video! You are the only channel I've found that talks about IPA applied to Japanese.

Oh, this is so good. Your channel is like a breath of fresh air! Thank you, fellow linguist! 🥰
Appreciate your kind words. Thank you!

Just what the doctor recommended, kudos on the video.
Thanks!
I loved the video and the use of IPA. One exception I know of in Japanese writing is the word という pronounced as とゆう in a Tokyo dialect.
Good point! But as far as I know, that has nothing to do with dialects.
Great video, really like your channel 👍
Glad you like it!
Hi Mei! Can you do " How to write Katakana" video? Your videos are the most accurate one I can find on the whole internet.
I’d gladly make videos on that if there was demand. But unfortunately, I’ve got 600 views on one of those Hiragana videos I made 3 years ago lol
@@campanasdejapanese Your channel gonna blow up. It just takes some time. Fighting Mei!

Hello, I really love your video. I am still a beginner to learn IPA, Can you recommend an online Japanese dictionary that has phonetic transcription?
Use Wiktionary: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page
How do I learn IPA I don’t understand it at all?
Watch the video til the end.
