I'm glad you had the same advice as I came to the conclusion of.
What helped me a lot was to realize that romaji was a mental crutch that was actively worsening my pronunciation

I am a new subscriber to your channel. I am excited to learn the very difficult Japanese language, however I was hoping it was going to be presented as a child would learn it. Of course I realize that children would not typically be searching on RUclips for how to learn a language, but I think this approach might be an interesting experiment in order to keep the stress of learning to a minimum.
