This was so helpful!! I always wondered how I can clean up the nasty bar on top showing all the work spaces I never use. Now I know! Thanks a lot for sharing that 👍😃
FINALLY!!! Thank you so much for this. I am relatively new to video editing and the initial workspaces of Premiere are definitely overwhelming so this video helped relieve some of that overwhelming feeling. THANK YOU!!!!!
I've been using Premiere pro for years. "Not a power user" I use 2 monitors. Yet, was unaware of some of these settings. You gave me some good ideas, made me rethink some things. Thanks
Great job, Colin. I think this might be useful for those transitioning from Rush to Premiere Pro. The range of video tutorials on your site continues to grow. Keep up the outstanding work!
Great tutorial Colin! I'm constantly changing my workspaces as my workflow changes. As a new(er) user I'd recommend adding one sentence to explain the difference between the source monitor and program monitor in future tutorials. You can make changes to both but as a new user you won't be. You won't care about the source monitor until you start color correction which many RUclipsrs never use. A concept that basic eluded me for a long time in Premiere. I took a break from editing and I'm looking forward to getting back at it. Thanks for the help!
This was so helpful! I changed the editing layout and the color, graphics, library, and effects screens. I recently got a second monitor and so I moved the program monitor to that so it would be full screen and give me even more room on the other one. I even bought you a cup of coffee on Paypal. 🙂
Simple and clear, fantastic Colin! Thanks. I have a more general question that is giving me headaches. I'm preparing tutorials for English teaching to non-natives and as I go through the lesson I want to show summaries of my comments alongside my image. Some of these will be straight text and some will have animated transitions to show, for example, where we place an adverb in a a sentence. I'm not sure whether it's better to do this with Text, Captions or Titles and whether I can import my text from my script in Word. If it is possible, what format should the text be saved in .com; RTF; TXT or other? Where can I find answers to my questions please? I saw in your video on rolling credits you imported the texts from Word, but I couldn't see the format
Premiere Pro only uses the pasted text and disregards the formatting so you can save the script in the format you're already writing in. I would suggest using Motion Graphics Templates to animate your text. I have a whole Playlist on creating and animating them. Let me know if you have more questions. ruclips.net/p/PL6npGHFAQO7fusqxK5TRlqFfFne1_izGo
Super useful Colin, as always! I have an issue though, since u already know i m on a budget and use a very old laptop but i do edit my dslr footage in premiere, however whenever i use the lumetri colour options for colour grading, the render times are insane, if u could please suggest some ways by which i could render a bit faster while still using the lumetri on my clips, it would be such a great help! Thanks in advance!! Love from India!🙏🏻
Krishna is correct, the Lumetri Color Engine is GPU accelerated so you'll see huge improvements in speed with a better GPU. Also, you need a minimum of 2 GB of video memory on that card to see a difference. Time to but a new laptop.
Hello from Switzerland, first thank you again for the Advice on making things simpler and i wanted to ask you (altough it is propably the wrong place to ask, since this is about simplyfying things) if there are ways to faster analyze scenes from around 13 hours of source Material. I am trying to make AMV´s (Anime Music Videos [so preferably lots of cuts and effects]) but cutting out scenes of so much material takes a lot of time ( even with skimming through the source or using a multiplier on playing speed) so maybe i just missed something that you might know. Either way thank you ^^
Very good Colin. I'll definitely use some of these. Just out of interest, what brand of mouse do you use? It has a nice click sound (I know that sounds weird) just sounds satisfying
Colin, how did you record this screencast? It looks a lot like Camtasia. I plan on doing a lot of screencast/tutorial work and Camtasia looks like it is a lot easier to use than PP for motion graphics, animations, and simple editing. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks and regards for a great channel.
Yes the screen in my shows is captured via Camtasia. I perform all the highlights and zooms in Camtasia then export to Premiere Pro for the final edit with the video of me talking.
Hi Colin. Please, How can I switch back the time line timing system FROM FRAMES to hours; minutes; seconds; frames, again, which has been shown for default? For experimentation, I changed the hour system counting to FRAMES to see what happened and when I try to go back to hours; minutes; seconds; frames, I CAN'T. I just see the option of "Frames" as if this is the only one option. This is in Premiere CC 2020. My footage was taken with a mobile phone, size: 640 x 352 px. Thanks a lot!
Your way of explanation is so clear and simple. Thanks!
Thanks. I really try hard to make things simple.
Great video Colin! Very informative. I will be implementing these simplification steps immediately. Thanks!
That's great Frank.

Frickin genius!!!! WHY haven't I learned this sooner! Thanks for your whole archive Colin!
I'm always happy to help.
This is brilliant - thank you.

It's always a good idea to tweak our workflows.
Thanks for this video, Collin. I've been using pp for 4 years and it's always been a struggle keeping track of everything. It's much easier now
That's great to hear John.

Thanks so much! Yes I realized the same thing when I was putting it together.
Thanks, Colin! That was super helpful. See ya'
Awesome!
Reminds me I gotta close some panels that I don't use and save the workspace. I keep forgetting, dangit!
Oh yeah, there are way too many panels I rarely use.
This wis incredibly useful :) Thank you.
That was my plan and I'm happy people are liking it.
so great and simple! thx a lot
You're very welcome.
Quick and direct to the point. Thank you so much for this tutorial, this explained a few questions that I had.
That's great.
You're the Best! Thanks for your tips, once again!

I've added that to the list of future tutorials. Thanks John.
Thanks, Collin, your diction is cool for listeners from others non English countries. Greets from Brazil.
Thanks and hello from Canada.
Useful, thank you so much for your hard work 💞💝💟💕💜💖💗💛💚💙💓❤😍
My pleasure.
Simple! That’s a great workspace
Thanks, I was hoping it would make sense.

There is no way to make reviewing clips faster. That's just the pain the editor must go through to find great shots.
@@VideoRevealed i thought as much ^^ i guess nothing beats hard work, either way thanks for replying ^^.
Very good Colin. I'll definitely use some of these.

My mouse is a Verbatim model 99743
VideoRevealed oh I've never heard of that brand. I'll have a look. Thanks for the constant amazing content Colin. Keep it up 👍🏻

Try holding Ctrl (Win) Cmd (Mac) and click on the numbers; it should cycle through all choices.
PoRes tutorial is needed lol
It's on the list.
