ive been learning how to edit on my own for almost 5 years. Today this video just popped out and ive been interested in it, actually realizing that he has a similar workflow as mine. That make me happy thinking i edit as a professional, but also realize that this guy has made a tutorial of 5 years learning into 1 hour vid while teaching some basic effects. Great vid, keep it up
Tbh I honest I use to edit like this until I discovered Nesting and the Multicam tool. You can mark each with the performances in your source window then you play the song and use your numbers to switch while the song is playing. It'll literally save so much time.
Not gonna lie to ya, I don't have the best computer for editing so when I try to use Multicam, especially with 4k footage my previews lag. I don't mind looking at each performance shot either, it helps me focus on the best moments for each track without distraction. To your point though, people can definitely chop faster with Multicam. Hoping to do a more comprehensive breakdown of that feature once I upgrade my MacBook.
I feel like you answered every question I would normally have from similar videos within the video itself, this is really neat and well explained ~ so much to learn here
One of the hardest video editors in the game, mans grind and hustle is unmatched! Your workflow is out of this world. You're a machine my friend. Thanks for this. For us filmmakers, our focus is on producing the best possible images, but to reach a final beast result sometimes we need to implement some vfx techniques to increase our product value. Little by little we learning. Thanks!

wow sick editing man! Appreciate you sharing some of the process. Really helpful and cool to see what goes into these videos as someone trying to learn editing myself.
@@VenterVisuals have over 5 years of editing experience but just edited my first music video ever and learned a lot of niche aspects to this style of editing from your channel, I appreciate the content
Would be interested in your feedback on the video, maybe like a series of reacting to other peoples videos and providing critique, think others would like to see that type of content as well
Very informative and Great video love to India 🇮🇳 Need more videos like these transition and effects and much more newly effect to try our videos. Thanks buddy. ❤
Great question. I only nest when I know I’m going to be doing rotoscoping in After Effects. This is because AE doesn’t read your premiere frame rate when you import it into AE. It also will not adjust your AE timeline automatically to match frame rate. If you nest your clip in premiere, it locks in your frame rate from your premiere sequence. That way after effects can read it with your premiere sequence settings and will save you time trying to synch everything up, make sure frame rates match, etc. An example would be like this: I shoot a video clip in 120fps. I’m going to edit that clip in premiere on a 30fps timeline. If I want to rotoscope that clip, and if I just dynamic link it to AE without nesting it first, AE is going to think I want to rotoscope in 120fps and not 30fps. Then I have to manually change my sequence settings to the proper frame rate in AE. If you nest before roto, the frame rate will always be right when you dynamic link. I don’t nest clips for special fx if they don’t need roto. Just the roto clips.
Hello Venter, Thank you for the video but im having a problem when it comes to cutting the clips. I can only see one clip! I click on other clips and they dont show in the window above as it does for you. Do you know how would I solve this problem?
@@VenterVisuals I actually think I solved the problem. I think I just had to hide all of the clips with the eyeball icon except for the one I wanted to see 😅. I was confused because I didn't see you click those icons when switching clips. Thanks for the quick reply though brother much appreciated! 😀
It will look too choppy, if you shoot in 60 or 120fps there are more frames to drag out which means smoother slow motion. All of these clips in the video were shot in 23fps.
Wow. What are you? Your not human. Your one of the people from the moon. Your workflow is impeccable. I wanna know how long you go before you take a break
Thanks so much, I'm from Columbus, Ohio. Depending on the edit I can go for 4-6 hours before taking a break. A lot of music video edits take me 15-20 hours to finish. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to power through the editing process if I need to tho lol.
@@VenterVisuals well. You just brought me out of retirement. I am going to record the dopest video, and see if I can get you to make magic like you do. I think you need a challenge cuz you make this look easy. And it’s not.
Bro..how are you so smart at this? Like after effects and adobe premiere doesnt seem like a hard task to you and your machine too man...must be overkill..bro your skills and speed are insane.. im so much inspired
i like the video, i use final cut with the multicam, it would literally change your life as your process is verrry time consuming. you could save hours
I don’t think it would speed up the process because I’m editing 4K ProRes files so unless I spend a few hours proxying them down to 720p my computer freezes too much trying to do multicam. It’s a computer issue for me, not a preference.
hey bro I've been editing for a while but I learnt heaps about workflow and sequencing in this video. thanks for taking the time to make this. Earnt a new sub ;)
Any tips to editing music videos and not getting completely sick of the music after an hour or two? I’ve only ever cut one music video and got two months I couldn’t get the song out of my head.
You gotta split it up, I only really listen to the song during the cut. When I'm adding effects, I listen to spotify. Batch your effects, send all your clips to AE and do a bunch of special fx that way before bringing them back into premiere and watching with music, then adjust accordingly. It's very rare when I have to listen to the song over and over after the cut, usually just listen to 5 seconds snippets after that and add effects that work with those 5 seconds, then move onto the next 5 seconds and so on.
Take notes gentlemen.
Question? Your packages can be used in Davincy? Including Shake Sauce? I’m using Davincy lately but I’m missing that on my videos…

nice video it's way better to cut using marks than checking what right on a single clip.i do that job in less than 3 minute done with the whole track
You can do it this way but you still need to find and cut starting and end points individually. I usually save my markers for VFX!

Excellent video! Quick Q; why do you sometimes nest the clip before replacing with the AE Comp and sometimes you don’t?
Same thing with the dynamic linking/rendering to .mov files
Great question. I only nest when I know I’m going to be doing rotoscoping in After Effects.
This is because AE doesn’t read your premiere frame rate when you import it into AE. It also will not adjust your AE timeline automatically to match frame rate.
If you nest your clip in premiere, it locks in your frame rate from your premiere sequence. That way after effects can read it with your premiere sequence settings and will save you time trying to synch everything up, make sure frame rates match, etc.
