I'm switching from years of Samsung note adherence to this. Reason? It's the only flagship phone today with expandable memory, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Pretty important stuff for high res music fans. It's that simple. Thanks for being the ONLY manufacturer keeping things real, Sony.

I've been a note user since the note 8, I currently have the note 20 Ultra. Every since I learned Samsung has stopped including expanded storage in their current line of flagship phones, I knew they wouldn't include it for the next generation of the note (if they haven't already discontinued it that is). I love my note, but as an avid music listener who downloads his music instead of using data to stream (high-res is very data intensive), expanded storage is a deal breaker.

It's actually mind-blowing on just how well-documented Sony phones are. I've been looking at phones to get a new one recently, and Sony say exactly what it has or doesn't have. USB-C video output? They even specify the resolution. OTG? Damn right, says on the actual specs page. Camera sensor types and sizes, lens focal lengths and apertures? Also right there. Bluetooth audio codecs, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G frequencies? All well documented. Complete with guides how to hook up the phone to a TV or to a camera as monitor, for example. With other phones to find out if they have USB OTG you need to see a RUclips test. It is so good not to have to rely on unreliable information on phone comparison websites, and then be profoundly disappointed after spending more than monthly salary on a phone, because there was mistake on that site.

I think the location on the top of the phone was chosen for the same reason other manufacturers are not including headphone jacks anymore. Think about it, when you're wearing headphones, you probably wanna have the chord come out the bottom for easy use when holding the phone with headphones. But nowadays most people will probably have wireless earphones anyways and use the headphone jack for a sound or speaker system, in a friend's car for example. And if you hook your phone up to a speaker or something external, non wearable, it's a lot more comfortable to have the cable come out the top and not have to bend it.

@@Wylie288 They do everything better😂😂😂😂😂 ok fanboy sheep.
Sorry but back here in reality none of these companies do everything the best. So stop sucking on their dix.
Great they have headphone port and SD card... but cost hundreds more than others while being behind 7-8 years in brightness, matching speakers of 2 year old phones, being behind in camera....besides colors.
Best batteries😂😂😂 that's why the battery is smaller than even cheap phones and the endurance rating shows it.
Oh yeah battery. Another area its behind in.
      Keep trying sheep

Because it's so easy to remove micro SD with thumbnails and no annoying punch holes. Unlike Samsung, it can be annoy while streaming on Netflix same goes as apple.

I have an Xperia 1. It's an old phone now but it still has 4k Oled display, 21:9 aspect ratio, same design as this minus the headphone jack and I totally love this phone. My first Sony Phone. Will definitely buy Mark IV when jt comes.

the current naming scheme is really not that hard lol
      1 - flagship
      5 - "compact"
      10 - budget
then roman numerals for the corresponding generation (iii is the current, next will be iv)

Speaking of the Venice… that frickin’ sensor, man. Captures 16-bits of color information. 16-BITS! All wrapped up nicely in that X-OCN codec with a bit rate lower that ArriRaw. Like wtf, combine science and magic much? Seriously, I just worked on a show where we had three of those suckers, and being on one of the sets on the sound stage, you’d think it was twilight. Then you’d look into the monitor and see what the camera was seeing, and BAM! Day light! That thing captured so much, it was a point of frustration for some of the operators and DP. Lol love that thing.
