Make yourselves an outdoor bbq with the brick!
It looks fantastic. Dont knock yourself out, nothing is ever perfect. You do the best you can and thats it.
Looks like Nitro used his supervising skills to help on the project.
The stone looks great. It was so nice seeing Nitro up and wanting some attention. Continued prayers for all.
I've heard the easy way to mark the back board is put lipstick on the edge of the pipe
Looks great you might want to put a mantel on it
For never doing it before , it looks pretty darn good. Great job Cody.
The fireplace looks amazing well done you two.
I think it looks great! Nice job Cody! ❤
Ohhhh my!!!!! I’m in loooooove with those bricks behind the wood stove!!!
Good morning! This is not a big deal, but I've heard a lot of people calling a wood stove a fireplace. It's a place for a fire, but it's not a fireplace. A fireplace is actually built in the wall and is connected to a chimney. It usually has some sort of fireproof bottom and uses a steel grate to put the wood on. Luv your channel!!!!😘
It looks awesome. A chunky wood mantle stained the same light color as your wood wall would look nice. Great job.
I saw you both fixed the walls behind the fireplace, it is fantastic. Beautiful colors matched the fireplace. Happy moments for you both did complied your job great!
Nice look, doesn’t overwhelm the space. Having a mantle will also help protect the TV from heat rising directly under it.
Yes you can use it for a BBQ or outlining your garden beds. Fireplace back looks great. Nitro thought you were laying something down for him. Prayers for you Nitro.
The brick looks really nice next to the fireplace great job!!
Cody did a wonderful job.
Home is coming along nicely. What a nice Home your building for yourselves.
It looks great! Don't beat yourself up, Cody! (I know, easier said than done) 😉💪
Looks great! So good so see animals being loved - and Cody please use a mask when you cut that stuff! You'll thank me 20 years from now! So, the reason why your tiles are not sticking on the wall is because, being concrete tiles, it absorbs the moisture from the glue, so wetting it slightly before you glue it is the correct way of doing it.
Looks so great! Cody you are one tough critic of yourself. You amaze me with every project you accomplish!! Take the credit you deserve 😊
It's stone and mortar. It's going to be a little rough looking. Don't beat yourself up about it. It's going to look great. I like it.
Your home is perfect! I love the rock. Great job guys! You two are such an inspiration to anyone wanting to go off grid. ...and I love Nitro so much 🥰
Looks damn good. I agree with some of the other comments trim it in with some wood to match whatever color the mantle is going to be.
That looks so nice!! One thing that I absolutely love about your videos is how supportive and forgiving you two are with each other. Shows so much love and understanding. Not a lot of relationships have that, so please try to never lose that!
Not bad for a first time. It will do what it was designed to do, so Good Job!
No worries! It looks fine! You both did a good job!
You did a damn good job on that looks good. With those extra bricks make a fire pit or barbecue Grill.
Great job for your first time Cody! 🫂🫂
The wall behind your wood burning stove looks really good. I think it really finishes it off. Good work guys. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
You can make brick planters in your greenhouse 🥰
It turned out amazing. I love it. You can build an outdoor fireplace or an oven using all the bricks. Just alternate between all the different colors.
Looks awesome, kids! Congrats!!🎉
I think it looks great. Jim and Lydia at CajunCountryLiving would have used liquid nails to attach the rock veneer, lol.
Funny, but correct!
Another super good ‘must-have’ is Liquid Nails.
We gleaned this great find from Perkins Builder Brothers.
DUH.....I meant to say “LEXEL” 😏 not Liquid Nails....even though I’m sure that’s a good product, too.
They sure would, and theirs has turned out awesome!
You right about that! They love liquid nail 😅
You right about that! They love liquid nails 😅
Yes, lol!
I would construct an outdoor fire pit with your abundance of bricks. What do you think?
Beautiful!! Now that stone makes sense, as it puts the whole feel of the finishing touches together.
It was nice seeing Nitro up and supervising y’all ❤
Since you're going to touch-up paint anyways, a damp sponge run along the fresh mortar will remove most of the you need to get off. A grey mortar collared stain on the wall will be left behind. Now that its dry it'll take a little more work to come clean enough to paint.
Those paver blocks have lots of uses in the garden and yard. Walkways, patios, boarders and edging just to name a few. Thanks for the video.
That looks so good!! You could make a little walk way with those bricks or maybe cut in a little patio at the door to the chicken coop 😀
I think you did a great job, Cody, since this was a first for you. Looks good.
I second that!👍🏼
A suggestion’ remove flooring behind fireplace and replace with stone.
That came out great and looks fantastic. Well done!! and the Nitro cameo made me chuckle.
ayep, led zepelin, another brick on the wall. dang nice work indeed.
I love it......the stone absolutely sets the fireplace off....
I think it turned out just great. You should be proud of yourselves for another awesome accomplishment.
Looks awesome! The brick turned out AMAZING and loved all of the puppy footage!!! Upside down puppy scratches are the best 😂. You definitely needed the doogie helping you😂😂😂 our 8yr old puppy helps like that as well.
The black brick would make a nice border around your concrete pad at the end of your steps
Puppy is looking good
Looks Great 👍👍, Good Job Cody and Summer 🏆!! 😊
A stiff paint brush will smooth out the mortar nicely. Just let it set up little first.🤠
Mastic is my best friend 😂
You beat me to it, that stuff is sticky and forgiving. Although I only laid two rows at a time and gave it a day to cure before loading another two rows, didn’t want the weight to cause it to slide out of place.
That rock/brick looks fabulous with your fireplace. Could not have matched your hearth any better. The pooches were enjoying the on the ground attention!
You both did an awesome job. Nice to see Nitro moving around again.
Looks great y’all! Also looks like Nitro is feeling better. 😊
Looks good dude from my chair. Good job.
What a great supervisor you have!! Nitro is doing quality checks!!
That backdrop of brick decoration looks great!!!
I think the stone looks gorgeous gorgeous!
Hi Summer and Cody. The wall looks great! Just like with laying tile and smoothing the grout. If you use a spong or rag and keep it wet, you can clean up the lines and smooth out the stone mortar. It's dry now but take a putty knife and drag along to clean up the lines and a damp rag will take of a lot of the residue and then paint it. Keep up the good work, it looks great!! Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Use the brick to make a border around flower beds.
🏆🧱🏆 You both deserve trophies! It looks great.
That really dressed it up and when you add the mantle it will be the finishing touch. Stone veneer is not easy to work with but you did a great job.
The Rock work looks sooo Good.
Very nice.. never be afraid to try something new. It's the only way you learn!
Glad to see you guy's and Nitro. I think it looks good, a little paint touch-up and the mantel on top. Hope all stays well 🙏
Looks good!.... Put a wood mantel/ boarder around outer edges of rock tiles
Your wall looks very nice! I think you did good.
brick walkways weaving all your colors together.
The stone tile looks amazing xx
When you have finished your siding put it as a boarder around, helps stop mice
I did exactly the same thing in my first house in uk in 1886! I think it looks fabulous, you've done a great job 👍
Love the look of the fireplace. It’s beautiful. Great job!
The stone looks great. The mantel is really going to set it off. ❤❤❤
I love the stone backing! It looks great! It was so very sweet to see Nitro wanting to be near you guys. He looks good and getting around pretty well. I was cracking up looking at the hair on Mia’s paws too.
Looks really good! I agree use the brick for an outdoor grill area.
Cody u did a phenomenal job for ur first time. U guys has diffently made a beautiful home. ❤️✌️

Cody, you killed it! Awesome job!
Guys it looks great ! Nitro looks great. You never cease to amaze me with how you figure out this stuff….. love it 🤩
While I'm watching you lay out stone, I'm looking at this same spot, just a few years ago you were sanding welds. So impressed with what you've accomplished
Absolutely love the stack rock. Gorgeous.
Good work guys. Finishing touch looks great!
It's beautiful, I think its better than what you were originally going with. Will look awesome at Christmas, hanging stockings from the mantle. ❤
Love the fireplace wall. Great choice looks really good. ❤
The stone looks fantastic.
The stone looks awesome! Great job.
Your hair is beautiful. Great project.
I love the new intro
Looks GREAT Cody,!! Good job. You just gave me a great idea with the backer board. Thanks
You both did a great job! We used a wood trim around ours that gave it a finished look. So impressed with you and Cody’s skills and attention to detail. Maybe you could use the other bricks to make a small patio to put a grill on. Love your channel!!❤️😘
Looks great…country cabin!
I see that Netflix on lmao ! U got to watch peaky Blinders !!!!
That wall looks really great. We used river rock for our fire place. Kody really and you both are very talented with all your things you do to your new home. Well done
I LOVE the stone! Very good choice.
As for the edges, when in doubt trim it out. lol
Use some shoe mold or rope trim and paint it a dark gray and Home Depot makes colored grout in a caulk tube. It’s with the tiling grout. You could use a gray color in between the stone and shoe mold after and regular white caulk on the side of the shoe mold and the wall.
Either way even if you do nothing it still looks great!! Good job
This is along the same lines as I was thinking!
Either way….it’s exactly the finish that ‘lil cook stove needed!
Great job, guys!!!
(Glad Nitro seems better, too.☺️)
Same. Trim with cove stick or quarter round 😊
Save up your money and do the whole wall, it would look great😊
Great job, you guys. Looks fantastic for a first-timer❤😂😂.
That looks so good and more finished. Good Job!
