This video was such a wake up call for me to go get checked. I had a hard lump on my right testicle that I had noticed for quite some time, years even, but I was too scared to go to the doctor. I had constant anxiety, like a black cloud that was constantly following me. I finally decided to go to the doctor to get some peace of mind and luckily it turned out to be some kind of cyst. Moral of the story, go get checked out, it could be something serious or nothing at all!

Thanks Doctor. After watching this video, I finally got the courage to go to the doctor to have a check up. I had a swelling the size of an avocado on the left side in my scrotum. It was growing for over a year. I was diagnosed with a hydrocele.(Jan 2020). I had the surgery 2 weeks later. I’m so happy to have relief
Man my right testicle has been killing me off and on for 20 yrs . I've been to several general practice Drs and they always say it's a hernia . There's no lumps . But my sack is red. And it hurts I'm scared I got cancer . But don't know if you can have it that long . It feels inflamed and the right is larger and a little more solid than the left one . I don't know what to do. Drs just chalk it up to injury and laugh at me .
@@DrLove911 if you had the ultrasound performed at a urologist clinic, do your best to get it done at the hospital or an imaging center. Unfortunately I had a ultrasound done at a Urologist clinic and they told me I was fine and gave me a few citro pills and told me to rest. A few days later i went to the ER and that were I was told I had the tumor.
Thank you so much Dr.Litwin for making this! Am a male (36) from Belgium with a cyste that has been looked at and confirmed it was a cyste, but kept hunting me. You have no idea how much this video means to me, my own doctor didn't took the time to explain me anything, I was in the office for 5 - 10 min and he probably used 20 words, including '' that will be 70 euro please".
Chris I’m glad you’re doing great and I wish you all the best for the future, a friend of mine is going through chemo and we’re hoping for the best. God bless
Stage IIB mixed germ cell tumor survivor here. Had my orchiectomy in late July 2022, went through EP chemo from August through October, and I go in for Post-Chemo RPLND surgery next Friday for what will hopefully be the last action we take to treat my case of this illness. I think it's important to reiterate what Dr. Litwin says here: if you have testicles, start your self exams immediately. If you notice any changes, seek out your primary care doctor for an exam, at the very least, and even ask for a referral to a urologist. Do not self-diagnose and do not wait until you present with secondary symptoms. I noticed a right-sided varicocele back in late 2020 and got an all-clear from an ultrasound in early 2021. Over the course of the following year and a half, I noticed changes in the size, firmness, and shape of my right testis. Rather than follow back up with my doctor, I trusted the earlier ultrasound rather than my understanding of how my own body felt. Cut to April 2022, when I was rushed to the ER with excruciating pain and localized infection, uncommon symptoms. After three months of antibiotics, poor ultrasound image quality due to inflammation, incorrect differential diagnoses, and a second opinion, I was finally diagnosed with TC at Memorial Sloan Kettering and began receiving proper treatment an excellent care. Don't wait. Cop a feel and seek medical attention if you notice anything changing.
@@invader7876 no way it is cancer dude. If it starts hurting or growing (the ball itself, not the veins and arteries around it) then only do something about it
Very calming to watch for me. I was thinking testicular cancer, but realized my lump wasn't on the actual testicle but above - spermatocele. It also came by so fast that such swelling probably wouldn't realistically be from a cancerous tumor. Videos like this are fantastic, when a true expert can teach and inform.
(Edited Monday 28 Oct. 2024) I sincerely apologize for failing to acknowledge my family Phycian, Doctor Lennard Pretorious, who made the initial finding and [Immediately] referred me to Dr. Jonat. Who om February 2023 performed an Orchiectomy on my right side. Since then, I've had 8 contrast CT's, all clear, so for now, no chemotherapy! Thank you Doctor Mark Litwin for this most informative video! I realize now, that our differening medical systems, are such, that an immediate, prosthesis implant wasn't an option. Update today, Wednesday 10th of April 2024. My Testicular Prosthesis, Surgery, performed by Dr Lee Jonat Urologist-Surgeon. First patient in our R.I.H.'s, (Royal Inland Hospital) O.R. #11. Thank you very much to [all] the accompanying, Anesthesia Surgeon, whose name I sincerely apologize for not recalling, all the Surgical Staff, as well as recovery R.N.'s.!
That's great! But can I make a question? What type of testicular cancer was it, seminoma or non seminoma? My boyfriend had the orchiectomy, but it is non seminoma stage II and doesn't want to have chemo and try surveillance 🥺
@mariamelendezc Thank you, Maria, for the acknowledged. It was caught early, and Seminoma, while yes it's the simplest to treat. I strongly suggest that your partner, seriously, consider the oncologist's recommendations!
This video is excellent and makes me feel much better about my prognosis. Currently recovering from orchiectomy (1 week ago). It happens fast. Found a ~1" hard/firm lump on right testicle and immediately when to doctor for check up 5 days later. 10 days after that I was in OR for surgery. To any guys that are concerned about what they may have go immediately and get checked. Hard firm lumps in/on testicles are nothing to play with and nothing to be ashamed of. Don't wait, if it's cancerous it won't get better on it's own and the sooner you get treated the less likely you are to need additional surgery and chemotherapy. I should have been doing a better job of checking myself monthly, I just noticed a different sensation than normal and checked myself out.
This must be the most assuring advice I've received. At the moment I'm in doubt if I have testicular cancer or not based on self assessment. Went through many articles and videos which made me feel as if I'll be dead by tomorrow. I'm going to seek a urology as soon as tomorrow. Will be back to update you on my findings. Thanks a lot for this video.
I was freaking out but nearly certain I have a Spermatocele! Still have an appointment to be safe ..This doctor is just incredible thank you so much for taking the time and posting this! Could listen to him all day!!
@@souravrsandeep9508 do u have surface of testicle itself or on epididymis I have at the surface of testicle on top back side and I think it is attached to my epididymis
I think this should be a part on normal school education (later years, like college (High school for US) where pupils are between 16-18. Of course female students would receive an equal kind of lesson with respect to their anatomy. It could be very helpful and they are just at an age where they enter the most likely group (18-40).
Was diagnosed with TC few days ago after dragging my feet at having a testicular mass examined. Had my orchiectomy within 8 day of finding out the mass was malignant. Yesterday learned I'm a stage II patient because it hasn't quiet made its way to my lymph nodes (we hope) but its penetrated the channel within the testicular cord which means its on its way if its not there already. I'm in between chemotherapy and lymph node removal but leaning towards removal. If you act fast, you have more options.
I learned so much from this doctor. I think my first health scare regarding this started way back in high-school when I took Sex Ed. I remember finding a lump on my left testicle in the shower and freaking out until I finally went in and got checked out. As it turns out that lump was no other Than a cest. Than way back in 2012 I had a really bad groin injury which resulted in a hydrocele on my right testicle, so I would get checked out year after year until, I learned to just chill out. Take care of your balls fellas.
Guys if you are watching this chances are you have some concerns. Get checked out, the sooner the better. Dont be embarrased. Also make sure you have the ultra sound at a hospital not in a clinic at the Urologist. Again get checked out dont wait.

Still a little anxious about if I have it or not. I might ask my mom if she can set up an appointment tomorrow, if I don't give myself a panic attack. Please pray for me🙏🙏🙏
I would NEVER advise anyone to have the lymph node dissection if the AFP and HGC markers are negative after the orchiectomy. I had a foot long scar from the operation and after months of investigation and angiography the surgeon clipped my renal artery during the surgery. 26 years later I’m still on daily antihypertensive meds. Also there is a risk of permanent impotence and retrograde ejaculation permanently.
I’m sorry that happened to you. However I don’t think it’s responsible to discourage others from having that surgery, especially if they’re in a situation where medical professionals are telling them it’s the right thing to do. I also had the surgery, and I have the scar (though It doesn’t bother me cause it shows I’m a badass and it’s kinda cool too), and I didn’t have those complications from the surgery. With any surgery there is risk involved, even with something as simple as getting your wisdom teeth removed. It sounds like it was the fault of your particular surgeon. Luckily people have the option to do the less invasive robot surgery with smaller hole scars if they want. I chose the old fashioned way cause there was a much higher success rate of getting rid of the cancer that way. Again I’m sorry that happened to you and I wish you all the best.
Sorry to hear that happened to you but if there is anyone who is in need of potential needing Lymph node surgery. Visit multiple doctors. Get 2nd opinions.

As a very experienced medical oncologist in germ cell tumor, I have to say that Dr Litwin has not presented a very "fair and balanced" viewpoint regarding surgical management of early stage disease and the "risk" of active surveillance. The data repeatedly show that active surveillance is safe and effective management of early stage seminoma or non‐seminoma and in most cases primary RPLND represents over treatment. In the US and around the world, active surveillance is the preferred management strategy for most early stage patients. Dr Litwin is promoting his own world view not a consensus of experts.
We can t afford the consensus of experts...because they will seldom post videos on youtube BECAUSE...RUclips INFORMATION....is not profitable as having the same youtube viewers come to your private practice. This gives thelay person an idea and many would follow up with a urologist...just because of this video
#1 thing is to see a doctor ASAP!! i just went yesterday because i felt a small little ball attached to my left testical and i was concerned because it had been there for atleast a year and never changed in size but ky doctor said there was a 95% that it was just a “Hydrocele” which is just a small sack of fluid that produces when you are born not all men are born with it tho, its completely fine and non cancerous he even told me he had the exact same thing when he was in his late teens. But anyways i’ll update you guys when i go in for my ultrasound🤧
Djamal Sarr I’m actually doing pretty well now that they’ve told me it’s not a concern all the doctor did was ran a scan and she rubbed warm gel over my scrotum and that took about an hour and 2days later they called and said its just a normal cyst that will go away as time progresses.

Hello, I'm a 21 year old male and my left testicle is significantly smaller than the right one. To put it in perspective my left one is like the size of a grape and my right one is a little less than the size of an egg. Did further self examination, and I have determined that my left testicle hasn't descended yet either. it's feel like its attached to some sort of cord near the top of my groin area that's not letting it drop down and am not sure if that has to do with anything. I also feel like there's a small bubble/ fluid like sac that's around my left testicle. I did some research and I don't think I have testicular cancer or anything concerning like that. However, I was wondering if there’s any sort of medical treatment or surgery for my left testicle to return to normal size? Please let me know if any of you have any information on this and what my first steps should be. I'm planning on see my personal physician and possibly a urologist after this coronavirus bullshit ends. Thank you!

I got a lump in my testicle(non painful and also the size of the example shown), but i think its not attached in my testicle, because i can hold it firmly away from my testis, but its under the scrotum. I'm worried on what it could be.
I went to a doctor, and he told me that what i had was a not a testicular tumor, but just a part of my skin. Go see your doctor maybe he has a good news for you man.
Dice Suki yeah man I think a lot of men worry when they feel that. I have it too and I’m certain it’s just skin. Cancer grows from within. So if it’s detached I think you’ll be okay
If it's not part of your testicle, it will be harmless. I've had quite a few visits to the doctors over the years with testicle pain, the latest was ultra sound this morning due to at least 10 weeks of almost daily ache or pain - turned out to be a varicose vein in (unusually my right testicle) I've also had epididimytis, an infection in my "sperm tube" that took 2 courses of antibiotics to clear up. I've also had a cyst, although this was about 20 years ago. All of these harmless problems had very worrying symptoms ie pain, swelling, back pain, groin pain, abdominal pain. There are also tubes that attach to the top of the testicles, that when I feel them, it feels like lumps that are attached the testicles but they're not. I just wanted to come on here to reassure people who are as worried as I was!

@cmbracke thanks man I had a ultrasound done and they claim they didn't find anything wrong
@cmbracke not really I'm pretty sure I'm ok . I think it's maybe a hernia

I am also diagnosed with tc stage 2b and undergoing chemo 2nd cycle

Very calming to watch for me. I was thinking testicular cancer, but realized my lump wasn't on the actual testicle but above - spermatocele. It also came by so fast that such swelling probably wouldn't realistically be from a cancerous tumor. Videos like this are fantastic, when a true expert can teach and inform.
Hi may i ask if spermatocele how long it heals?

@floridaman5125 It was not in my case. So you had cancer? How did things go?
@floridaman5125 glad to hear that you are recovering though! Stay strong. Did you have swelling above the testicles too or just the actual testicles?

Woow omg
Omg. I'm so sorry.

If it involves cancer, I’d rather be “over treated.”
Where ru?
Can I contact with you ..please .
We can t afford the consensus of experts...because they will seldom post videos on youtube BECAUSE...RUclips INFORMATION....is not profitable as having the same youtube viewers come to your private practice. This gives thelay person an idea and many would follow up with a urologist...just because of this video
Thank you very much Dr. Litwin for the detailed information. God bless you and your family.😄

This man saved me from freaking the fuck out thank you 💜💜

Very Very Good DR Litwin Thank You!
In Canada they want nurse's and doctor's to do the tescle exam as men aren't doing it Right
What about dull ache in right testicle that comes and goes but is Sensitive .. note: I didn't feel any lump in myself exam.
Still make sure to see a doctor just in case.
As long as you feel like it’s not killing you, just let it be and start a detox diet.
The pictures don't bother me, but any thought of issues with testicles makes me sooo uncomfortable and I cringe so hard

Hi Dr. Mark,
What would be the chances of getting cured for 65 years old?
I'm 100% sure i have testicle cancer :( but i guess that's how life treat me :( I'm 20 yrs old. My mom and dad passed aways since i was a kid. And now i only have my brothers and sisters. I'm afraid to tell them my situation because i know I will become a problem because we're broke :( we're just poor 😭 I think I'll prepare my self that death will come 😭😭 sorry I'm not good at english :(
Go to the doctors... as soon has you can... I just finished my chemotherapy and the faster you go to the doctors the easier to cure it... let me know how you doing ...
