Where can I find this review of the album that's being mentioned in the video?
Lol ya ur dumb I want the music ur input is LAME
"Hey i shit talked your album also... im not really familiar with shoegaze.."
B R UH
"I also have no respect for Smashing Pumpkins" like wtf it's ok to not like a thing but maybe recognise the difference between not liking a sound and denying a formative element of an entire genre.
these people were mad annoying
I honestly dont know how you could be a fan of guitar based music and not thoroughly enjoy Guilty of Everything.
love Domenic. Nothing is a great band
big respect for nicky letting these insufferable people talk about things they didnt know, but still try and get in a couple wise statements to maybe educate some people about where shoegaze comes from. mustve been very frustrating,. It's cool to see how hes chilled out and become more professional or respectful in these interviews in recent years OH and his band is better than ever!!!! the great dismal is an instant classic in the genre.
AND Smashing Pumpkins are goated anyone who disagrees im telling you listen to the siamese dream album and then youll get it 3-4 songs in.
How are these people legally adults.
One name Justin Broadrick, obviously his main band Godflesh but his other band Jesu is amazing shoegaze!
If you are looking at these comments...move on...this conversation is a complete waste of time. Nothing is a great band. This lovely lady seems to have come on the scene a week before this video was made.
are these people for real? They seem to be facsimiles of people who like music to much
dominic has the patience of a saint
I am with Dominic. They should try Smashing Pumpkins.
Dude. Gish... I, don't, remotely call myself a Smashing Pumpkins fan.. I personally don't own any of there music.. On CD or digitally for that matter, but Gish us with out doubt one of the best albums ever. And I mean that from every perspective. The band is tight as hell.. Every song is like a roller coaster ride (I am one , Siva especially like you have this driving intro.. This heavy build. Up.. This explosion.. This sort of calm resolution... Another sort of calm soothing build up and then that driving ass heavy shit again. I don't know if any of that made sense but there it is. Plus the proudtion on Gish is phenomenal. Katy..I FEEL YOU SISTER . Screw everythjng they've done BUT GISH BOO.... LISTEN TO GISH
I agree.
Agree. I worked with them through that whole album and it’s by far their best pieces of music on GISH. Everything after is not even remotely near the level of brilliance that GISH encapsulates!!!
NOTHING is the best gaze band of all time💜💜💜
no
@@OfficialYoungThugRUclips well I think so, it's called an opinion. I didn't ask you thougu, so.....
@@ouisch23 you spelled thoughts wrong
@@OfficialYoungThugRUclips it was actually supposed to be "though". Way to read. Lol👍🏻
@@ouisch23 you still spelled though wrong
These people are woefully unaware of first wave Shoegaze and it’s affects on the modern revival.
How much nonsense shit that girl and that metal guy can say? Meshugah shoegaze, the other likes Alcest but knows zero about shoegaze… it hurts just to listen! 😂😂 open your horizons if you want to use references from bands you know.
Doc: shoegaze... Deftones and Meshuggah.
This is one of the worst things I’ve watched in a long time. It’s like when I was a teenager in the 90s and deathrock (goth punk) made a “comeback”. So many clueless music journalists had zero clue as to how to write about it and made dumb references to Coal Chamber instead of Misfits, Bauhaus or Joy Division. Even worse was the post hardcore/emo (Rites of Spring, Swing Kids, Heroin, etc) non-revival revival with nu metal influenced bands claiming to be “screamo”.
The female host is a typical naysayer. Reviews a strongly shoegazed band without digging into the prior to emitting her review. So bad.
I was with their hookup in Houston, then I heard the next day from a friend how high they were, their live show was horrible and they were just wasted. I thought - that sounds about right. Hilarious!!! Smashing Pumpkins do have amazing studio albums though - that's undeniable.
Well Billy played all the instruments on Gish as well as others after due to his control and perfection frenzy. The band was just not sounding the way he wanted it to sound. This also in turn caused a super amount of animosity and difficulty playing solid live. Hence all the fallouts that continued after their debut of GISH. Which is their most brilliant work. Other is ok. Would never categorize SP as SG band except for many tunes on Gish. I still have a cassette of Gish with the songs typed out that were only given to people in and close to band. Was in industry and good friend was besties with Who she called “Billy Pumpkin”
I am from Chicago and have seen the Pumpkins sooo many times.. Can't stand them... But Gish is SUCH a great album! Rocks!
Yay, someone else doesn’t like Smashing Pumpkins! 3 hour live set sounds like pure torture... 🤮😱
When I think of Shoegaze, I think of Curve, Ride, Lush, My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver, etc. Even Blur’s “Oily Water” & “Sing” are Shoegaze to me.
I’m not familiar with most of the newer bands you all mentioned. It’s cool that Shoegaze didn’t die from Britpop. It just spread its wings into other generations of bands.
I have fond memories of Shoegaze from 89-92, but I think at the time people got bored of it. Glad it’s back, even if most of the original bands that started it are long gone.
This video and all bands mentioned are not carrying the torch of shoegaze forward
They are definitely not overrated. I don't listen to them a lot but whoever thinks that they are knows nothing about art or music and that's the unfortunate truth. Some people may not like them but they are definitely not overall. Thats just an idiotic question , plain and simple, and going to see a band play for 3 hours that you feel "lukewarm" about ? Well that's just stupid.
hold up smashing pumpkins ain't even shoegaze
Just saw spotify labeling them as shoegaze today too. Really weird, I have no idea hey smashing pumpkins even comes close to shoegaze minus some minor minor minor shoegazy backing vocals on 1979
@@tylercherneski1805 like fr they really dont sound anything considerably close to the genre, even corgan himself hates that comparison because of how wrong it is
@@gorrilaman90 I've honestly never heard of them being called shoegaze before until yesterday and it makes zero sense to me.
@@tylercherneski1805 ahh get it, ZERO
I can definitely see smashing pumpkins having shoegaze qualities, so I agree. I would at least consider some of Siamese dream to be shoegaze.
“DeeJenty” lol
As usual, genres criticizing other genres. Bunch of elitists
Godsmack is a great Alice in Chains song and a terrible band name. Doc's takes are eye popping sometimes
I’m with you
..Gish all the way up to Zwan are worth hearing if you're diving in Pumpkins/Corgan territory (post Zwan however... stitch in time was good...)
After a metalgaze episode you’ve gotta review the new Jesu album from Justin Broadrick next time
Critics. Lol
4:38 slowdive, catherine wheel, lush... what's the 4th band?
Pale Saints, but you probably figured that out already
Ok Sargent stutter why dont you make music?
This was a painful video. I'm not sure there could have been a worse panel to talk Shoegaze or NOTHING. The Deftones??? Seriously? That's your Shoegaze barometer? Wtf.
LMAO Doc said "dajango"... Hahaha
I like your shirt mercyful kate
i amn ,ooking for4e help bitgvc gi away
The first shoegaze bands considered themselves advanced guitar music: the term shoegaze literally ruined most of their careers. Even the first emo bands like cap n jazz and fugazi were considered weirdo punk rock. Subgenres and this need to constantly compare is soo inane and stupid
Ok Domenic, wtf is up with "cease to coexist"? Just some edgy stuff or what?
