As a poor person who got the Switch as a gift and has been slowly building her collection of modern games, I look upon that day with dread.
Itll probably still be relevant few years after the new one releases, and even then it’ll still be a solid console.

Me too but I always remind myself that It will stay alive along side the new console for atleast 3 years and on the bright side, the switch v2, lite and Oled will finally a software jail break without the need of mod ship because modders will have figured it out by then

Yeah because of a platoon 3 and TOTK which will be up for probably two years and rumored mario game, plus the mario movie coming will problem add in a lot of switch buyers so there is no need to change

Maybe not THAT late, I mean the switch came out In 2017, and if it came out in 2025 it would already be 8 yrs old, which seems a bit late. I think emswizzle was right abt 2023-2024.

I don't think it would be a good idea for Nintendo to announce a new console next year since they're releasing a lot of games for the switch in 2023. They'll probably announce it in 2024 and release it in 2025.

To be honest, I think from the Wii to Wii U Era, Nintendo was trying to figure out the perfect console for them. The DS was portable yet underpowered, and the Wii/Wii U was powerful yet not as portable. The Switch is the perfect remedy for this and I think going forward we will see improvements to that formula

I think it'd be better if they did something new. Those console lines were derivative enough as is, and on top of that, when they did that by making the Wii U, it turned into one of their biggest failures. Doubt they'd wanna risk that happening again.
They tried that with the WiiU.

@@switch334 I am not gonna try to start a whole argument, but everyone can agree the Wii U wasn’t properly represented to the public. If this makes no sense look at companies, such as Microsoft and Apple and how they were able to continue the product line ups they still continue today with their consumers.
@@Mr_Cool256 I think Nintendo wants to abandon the Wii era. It was fun for many, but they lost a lot of their hardcore audience and I think they want to reach a balance with the Switch.

What's crazy is that the NES continues to make the games during the Super Nintendo era until 1995, that's were they discounted the NES and it was made in 1985, that's almost 10 years. So I'm thinking we might get a new Nintendo console around 2026 or so.

The switch is still doing well and I think assuming based off of just the wiiu's lifespan isn't really the best idea. Like if you're gonna do that at least factor in how the 3ds lasted for almost 10 years. Like I mean it's weaker hardware wise but I think it's gonna be more likely for them to do a liek new nintendo 3ds equivalent but for the the switch so they can keep up with the hardware side of things

If your going to be using that screen on the go or even in the house it’s definitely worth it. If you’re mainly docking then theres probably no point
I picked up my very first switch just after Luigi's Mansion 3 released and I loved it, I hope they keep the same style and keep it up as a hybrid console. Honestly the only thing I think they need to do is update it to be just as powerful if not at the least close to what next gen is playing at. It still has its own unique spot in the gaming world
Ima take a shot in the dark and say that the announcement will be November 19th, and the release date will be October 27th. I don’t have any supporting info im literally just guessing lol.
Instead of when a new console will release, I thought of a new Nintendo console idea. I’m up in the air with the name, I’m thinking of either the Revolution or Correlation. It is a console that has like a switch like console inside of it, this is the core console. With a press of a button you can release it so you can play on the go. You might be asking where games go, well any disc you put in the console will be saved on the core console, so you don’t need to worry about that. The console itself runs in 4K at 144-240 fps, the core console runs at 720p, 60 fps. I’m not such a great artist but I drew out a little concept design of what it looks like. If anyone wants to see it just let me know.
also another thing to note is that they don't want to announce consoles earlier because they don't want other people trying to make clones of the console. thats why they announced the switch when it was almost done.
It doesn't matter if they announce it earlier or not there will always be a clone of something
@@dearsirdearyou4153 yeah true, but still they tend to announce things like consoles kind of late. although funny thing is, there already was a switch ripoff in china that was being made before the switch was announced. although the design was very different than the switch and almost looked like something you'd expect for a playstation console

Early or late 2026 because when the 3DS came out in 2011, it was a huge success and Nintendo making new versions until 2020 where it was discontinued so my prediction is nine years until it is discontinued or later if they make a switch pro
i think it will just be a more buff switch variant since the idea is working so well for them
Late 2024 would mean breaking Nintendo home console streak. NES to SNES = 6 years, SNES to N64 = 6 Years, N64 to GameCube = 5 years, GameCube to Wii = 5 Years, Wii to WiiU = 6 Years, Wii U to Switch = 5 Years. They will break their 5 or 6 year between consoles streak if they don’t release it before 03/03/2024
I feel like if they released it around Christmas time 2024 that would be good, I also think that a new AC game on release would be cool, maybe also a sequel to Mario odyssey

We know that the booster course pass from mario kart 8 deluxe will continue untill the end of 2024 and they will let people play those maps for some time so my guess is around June 2026

I think Nintendo might re-release an old console, like the gameboy, but load all of the og Nintendo games that we get with switch online onto it but with a cheaper subscription

It was actually a less than a 5 year gap between the Wii U and Switch releases, since the Wii U came out on November 2012, and the Switch on March 2017, showing how a big of a commercial failure the Wii U was, despite its decent library of games.

I have a feeling something akin to a Switch Pro will be released 2024 rather than a ew console. The reason I say this is that Nintendo will likely want to stay with the competition in terms of releases against PlayStation and Xbox, so the next proper console may release in 2027. So we may still have plenty of time with our Switches until then.

my biggest issue with a new nintendo console now is that the switch STILL feels like recent, modern hardware, whereas all of the earlier main nintendo home consoles felt at least a bit outdated before the newer one came out.

Nintendo need to step the peformance and graphics up to atleast 1080P when they release the next console and atleast 128 GB of storage.
I expect a reveal in 2024 and a release late 2025, that just seems the most logical since the Switch is still selling like hotcakes and Nintendo are known to keep a console going if it is performing well with sales

I say mid-2025, to be honest. If they want to compete with other brands, they’d need to step up the processing power and the game catalog, taking an extra year or two presumably.
I’m expecting another half gen upgrade (similar to what Sony did with the PlayStation 4 pro). Nintendo wants to switch to continue competing with the other 9th gen consoles. I don’t expect another new console until 2026/27 due to keeping in line with the other big consoles.
The Wii U didn’t sell well so a smaller gap makes sense
