I had an Elie Gulf 120XE. It's manufactured by Pelican using the same construction. The Pelican 120 is just an update to the Gulf 120XE. There are advantages, and disadvantages to the Pelican construction vs roto-molded models like the Ascend. Advantages: Lighter weight, handles impacts better (flexes rather than breaking), more consistent thickness to the plastic (roto-molding can leave some spots thinner than others). Disadvantages: The manufacturing process requires curved corners, and when combined with the flexibility of the material, that can make mounting some things more difficult. You might have to add a back plate for your trolling motor mount. The scupper holes have a flange in them where the two halves (top and bottom) are heat welded together. It wouldn't allow the use of the one way valves, or a trolley that uses the scupper holes, and in spite of how large the scupper holes look, they drain a little slower. The roto-molded plastic might be a little easier to repair if it is damaged. .For the most part, I think those differences are minor. The more expensive 12' Ascend is more expensive due to the rod tip protector, it's already wired so you can add a fish finder, the additional rod holders, low/high seat, additional hatches, it's over 1/2 foot longer, I think it's slightly wider, and the seat is better. Check out other colors for the models you are looking at online. If you like another color, you can probably order it online, and have it shipped to the store for free.

The old town is the most stable and has nice tracking also has great features (seat, self pulley anchor system rod holders etc.), the Pelican Icon is the most comfortable and has decent features but has poor to decent tracking. The Ocean Explorer has the best tracking but average comfortability. I really like the 12 ft Pelican catch 120 and wanna buy it, it 's be nice to get the OLD TOWN sport 120 though but don't wanna pay all that money. I've got luck to but my kayaks on FB market at ridiculous low prices and were in good to great shape when bought.
At the time of this vid.....I'd have went for the ascend 128t ALL DAY...... If that video were now.....Ascend 133X ..... or Ascend 12t at minimum. 128t is awesome for mods though....especially the trolling motor mod.

A fantastic intermediate grade kayak would be the pescador pro. However, I do feel ascend has stepped it’s game up. The ascend 133x doesnt have a whole lot of “internal storage,” it does have an astounding 550lb weight capacity, the option to mount a trolling motor, has a ton of storage on top, comes in 13’, and super stable. This is nice for those that like to take em on long trips(camping maybe), and bigger guys like myself that struggle to find a kayak that will not only support them, but do it with ease and allow for all the gear they need too, and all for $999. I’m actually heading down to Cabelas today to pick one up

Love It. Me and my wife went down to Bass Pro Shop yesterday and they have a kit that comes with trolling motor, fish finder etc. 3200 dollar range but its a great deal of course. I cant wait. I hope its the right way to go.
I am starting to lean towards the catch 12. The ascends also aren't as wide and do not have as much weight capacity as the catch and 8 need the capacity since I'm planning on a trolling motor. Thanks bud

But it’s a big step up from the Lifetime Tamarack Angler 100. i bought the Tamarack before doing my research and it’s just right for my wife. I’m 6’, 210 lbs and I didn’t know better until I got it on the water. The Ascend 128x is substantially larger. I can barely wait for the opportunity to get on the water.
@@TBassFactory I've owned the 2017 sea ghost and now have the 2019 sea ghost 130. Plenty of storage and stable. The 2019 yellow fin 120 has excellent reviews too. Look up vibe kayaks owners group on Facebook.
They both are good kayaks especially for the price. The pelican catch is a little more stable in my opinion,but the ascend cuts through water a little better. They both are good kayaks, but I had this same debate and I went with the catch 120 and I stand the whole time and for me it's more like a stand up paddleboard.

Then ascend 10t is one of the worst kayaks I've ever been on in my life it is so unstable so rolly it's crap can I have some suggestions on what to get
I didnt end up getting the ascend fir myself. I got the pelican catch 120 and it was $800. The specs on the catch 120 are almost the same as a bonafide which is $1600. When I kayak fish I dont sit down unless there are rapids, so basically all day I stand. The catch 120 is a kayak but I fish in it like it's a stand up paddle board. For a comparable price and best bang for your buck I would have to say the catch 120 or 10 would be the best kayak and keeps more money I'm your wallet. I hope that helps Joe.
Hey bro I'm some what new to fishing and wanted to ask if I should start with a Kayak or a Jon boat ? Have never owned either and have around 4k saved up 🛶 🛥 .
I actually own both. I have a 15 foot modified jon boat and a Kayak. These days I fish way more out of the Kayak since it only weighs 70 pounds and fits it the bed of my truck and I fish everywhere. The only downside is it becomes a sail boat in the wind. A jon boat can weigh less and some fit in the bed of a truck also, but most the time they have to be trailered. A jon can fish alot of places as well but most often have a trolling motor and you can fish open water alot easier. A jon and a Kayak nowadays are actually close to the same price. I would say since your new get a smaller jon boat and add a trolling motor and it will help you focus more on the fishing and will help you learn faster by being able to make more casts.
@@rodrigoelgu If it's only you fishing: consider the bass raiders or bass buggy it's a lite pontoon plastic boat - I believe Derrick has one too.... I have an 8ft one and me and my gf go fishing with a trolling motor on it all the time. I also have kayaks and a big boat as well but if you wanna load something up easily and not worry about backing up or wearing out your arms I think it works out just fine .

Yeah it would be an awesome kayak to have the only thing that I question is the width for the price. I like to stand when I fish.
I would go with the pelican I am saving up for the 10ft one it has every thing I need and easy to load

How stable are the nucanoe. I really want to be able to stand and fish about 75% of the time.

I checked out a Osark trail 12 at Walmart for 500 bucks and it looked decent for the price. Check it out and might save you a hundred bucks.
