    still happy with it? could make a 2 year review video!

      Awesome! Yes I am still happy with it. I never stand in it as it’s not super stable for standing but otherwise it’s perfect for me for the price. A 2 year review is a good idea!

    Might want to check if you have to register your kayak. In Minnesota anything over 10 foot has to be registered. Mine is 10 foot so I am ok. I have the Catch Classic

    • @ToughCountry
      @ToughCountry  Год назад

      Thanks for sharing this info! Where I live in Ontario Canada you only need to register motorized boats that are over 9.9hp. Kayaks and canoes of any size do not need to be registered. But for anyone who lives in an area like Minnesota make sure you register it!

    For anyone looking at making a purchase on one of these heres some serious things to consider ( Im 6' 190lbs and have used mine for one season about 20+ uses )
    Pros:
    - stability/spaciousness are great. I can easily stand and fish with zero fear of going in. I also have more than enough space to take everything you could imagine and than some for a day on the lake.
    - Very customizable. If you're creative at all you could easily make this thing alot more functionable and fun to use.
    - Wicked introductory fishing kayak. I did ALOT of research and couldnt find anything in the price point that was better.
    Cons:
    - The speed and tracking suck like quite a bit. Once you get going its not too bad but if you're paddling against the wind it can be painful. I wouldnt use this in huge lakes and expect to cover a ton of area.
    - Heavier than People say. Definitely recommend a kayak dolly right away.
    - Depending on how serious you are about fishing you might wanna consider something with a peddle drive. Being new to the sport myself I thought Id be better off without as it would just get in my way in shallow areas but you get blown around alot out there and it would be nice to be able to stay in your spot and travel with more ease.
    Do I regret my purchase ? Absolutely not. Who do I recommend this kayak to? Anybody who fishes recreationally on smaller bodies of water and isnt looking to break the bank and is just getting into the sport. I do see myself outgrowing this kayak a few years down the road but I have full intentions to keep it as a backup or something a friend can use when I upgrade.

      I found a catch 120 1996 model on I 95 still in roof top carrier looks to be in great shape rooftop carrier took most of brunt but lm gonna buy a seat and paddle and give her a try I know I'm going to like it best of all I saved roughly 900.00.

      Do you know anything about the vibe yellow fin 120?

    • @jared2232
      @jared2232 2 года назад +1

      @@PanfishingJournal I've never owned one so cant be completely accurate but judging from the looks of it my main take aways would be it looks like it would glide through the water much quicker with less effort but you'd be losing stability when comparing to the catch 120.
      Everyone's personal needs are different. If you're someone who's been fishing a long time and does alot of fishing id recommend saving up for something with pedal drive. If you're more of a here and there angler either of the kayaks mentioned would be adequate!

    Hey there ... nice video covering a kayak that I would think about buying. Can you tell me how tall you are and about how much you weigh? I have seen comparable kayaks and the guys giving the reviews claim that they are 5’10” and 150 ... not exactly my build ... 6’00” and 200. Thanks!

    • @ToughCountry

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and hope it helps with your decision. My height is 5’10” as well but I weigh about 175.

      I got mine from Canadian tire! Check stock in small town stores as I found big city stores were typically sold out.

      Look up the GoPro Grab Bag on Amazon, that is everything you will need to mount a GoPro to your kayak. You can get some cheaper adhesive mounts on Amazon as well.

    Now that you've had some practice how do you feel fishing while standing? I'm 5'7" and about 215. I have a Feelfree Lure 11.5, which is significantly heavier, UT also quite stable. Trade off on weight/width and stability.

    • @ToughCountry
      @ToughCountry  2 года назад

      Hey Steve! I have only fished standing up a few times. It can be done but it doesn’t feel super stable. I also always have a ton of expensive camera gear with me so for that reason the few times I’ve done it was not for very long. I will try a few times this summer with less gear and for longer periods of time so I can give you a better response.

      Classic 120 has 2 less rod holders, seat has less pockets and padding, does not have assist strap for standing, also does not have non skid floor. Only reason I know all of this is I ordered the classic catch 120 today because the catch 120 was not available. Hope this helps.
