    Good review.
    With regards to the question "is it worth upgrading from v1 to v2" - for me, absolutely, mainly because of QMK/VIA. I had the v1 and the software side of it was a big downside. I sold it recently and for the last few months I'm using Keychron K3 Pro. I didn't expect QMK/VIA-enabled NuPhy so soon and it was a big surprise. So now I'm waiting for my v2.

    I'm kinda heartbroken over this release. Nuphy asked beforehand on social media about what features people want out of the V2 and, without exaggerating, about 75% of people wished for an ISO layout. That got my hopes up and now I'm disappointed.

    I wish keyboard makers would make the spacebar more narrow. We don't need a spacebar that eats so much space and pushes the modifier keys farther away from our thumbs. Doing common things like cut/copy/paste (CMD key modifier) require cranking your thumb way back under your hand if you want to maintain "home key" typing position with your fingers. In contrast, the Macbook Air keyboard has a spacebar when aligns exactly with CVBNM range of keys. So the left and right CMD keys are now closer to the middle and therefore much more accessible to thumbs.

    I have the air 75 v1, was considering upgrading to v2, but then Keychron released the Alice version of this, the k15 pro. I’d prefer a real split low profile 75% keyboard, so if Nuphy ever decides to release a split version of the air 75 v2, I might upgrade to that. But for the time being, I’m switching from air 75 to k15 pro.

      @@MarcJSchmidt The fn key is only used to change layer on the keyboard. It will send nothing to macos, so shortcuts that involved globe key will not work. For example, on air75 v1, by default, pressing globe key will change the input source and this does not work on v2

      I'm glad you're liking it! They do have the Air96 which has the number pad but it's still pretty compact with no space between the number pad and the arrow keys. It's also not QMK/VIA compatible unfortunately because they released it before switching over to QMK firmware. Otherwise it's very similar to the new Air75 V2, just lacking QMK/VIA and the faster wireless polling rates. I'm hoping they release an updated version of it at some point as well.

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  11 месяцев назад +2

      The Air75 V2 is going to have better battery life (220hrs vs 130hrs), the additional 2.4GHz connection, and slightly better bluetooth polling rate (125Hz vs 90Hz). The typing feel and sound will also be different, the Air75 has a deeper sound because of the slightly more enclosed design vs the open floating key design of the K3 Pro. They both can sit on top of a laptop keyboard which is nice, and with the update to QMK/VIA in the V2 they both now have that for customization. I have the K3 Pro and have enjoyed it, but the Air75 V2 has a bit more of a premium feel and the other benefits that I mentioned, so it would be my personal choice.

    They marketed the Moss as early bump like the baby kangaroo. Is it noticeable compared to the wisteria?

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  11 месяцев назад +2

      Holding them next to each other and pressing very slowly, the timing/placement of the bump feels like it is the same, but Moss has almost an illusion of being slightly earlier because it is much more pronounced and snappy than Wisteria. Wisteria barely feels tactile compared to Moss - very light bump and almost a "slow" feel to it, where Moss feels like a quick and noticeable bump. In that regard I would say it's closer to BBK than either brown or Wisteria.

    V2 looks like pretty not bad, but I guess while my V1 is alive - won't be upgraded. Only thing I'm waiting next version - is switch to wired connection wia fn+123 - and it does no need physical switch on top of the keyboard. And I guess nuphy needs also automatically detection what OS is connected to. It will cause minus 1 switch as well.
    That's all I miss in V1. I guess if keyboard will remember up to 5-6 wireless connections - it will kill most of other keyboards (yes not everyone need such number, but why not??).

    The Air 75 is almost the most perfect keyboard I've ever owned. But I didn’t like 2 things about the original Air75: external legs with magnets and the lack of a slot for a 2.4GHz receiver. These are the things that don't fit in Nufolio and can get lost. They made cool legs in V2, but didn't make a slot. Therefore, I see no point in upgrading.

    I'm going to replace my Air96 with the Air75 V2 - which is probably going to be more of a sidegrade than a strict upgrade like it would be for the original Air75 since the 96 was already much better. That said, QMK/VIA support plus wireless is *huge* and I am looking forward to seeing how much more powerful the new MCU chip performs.
    I'm also looking forward to the two new switch options and picked Moss pre-installed in my V2, hoping for improving even on the nice Wisteria.
    But with Cowberry being such quiet mid-heavy early-actuation linears I might very well swap those in before too long seeing as this is my keyboard for days in the office.

    What are your favourite switch options? I'm having a hard time deciding. And would you recommend the Nuphy over the Lofree? Thanks.

    I just wished that you could buy the optional Dual OS keys so if you need them. Rather than make it not possible at all.

    When you get the cowberry, can you compare it to lofree flow?

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  11 месяцев назад

      Yes! That's exactly what I'm waiting for - I wanted to get the cowberry and moss switches to compare to the switches in the Flow before making an updated comparison. I will be working on that as soon as my preorder for the switches arrives!

    I think I want to order this keyboard, however you did get me thinking because I'm in Europe - is the layout usually a big problem? What are some key differences?
    Also in the cart it said "Not Included" - are there no keycaps included, do you have to order them separately? I e-mailed Nuphy but unfortunately no response :(

    this is such a great clear video... was jujst about to buy one of the prev model when this v2 vid popped up damn you! ha. i dont care about this macros customization stuff tho, so the only thing i see as better is bigger battery and smoother better feeling keys ... so do i get the prev version (which is availabloe for $122 in thailand) and the V2 isnt avaiolable at all (who knows if it comes available on monday or inb 3 months time...) i want one now really. so im in a dillema whether to buy older version or wait for new version (if less than a week, i would wait otherwise not). the logitech mechanical mini is also a considerration

    The lower contrast on the keycap fonts is a downgrade for me. I can barely see the letters.
    I don't know why they did that. I hope there is an option to choose the older keycaps.

    I have the Nuphy Air60 and the right shift key DRIVES ME CRAZY! I hate to buy another expensive keyboard just for that but I’m wondering how much aggravation is worth. What do you think?

  • @drumdover

    I have the v2 but the 2.4 GHz misses keystrokes quite a bit and that's even after the supposed "fix" of updating firmware to 1.1.1. Seems like others are having this issue as well. Bluetooth and wired both work great though. Love the board, but I mainly bought the v2 for the "reliable", fast polling 2.4 GHz connection but sadly cannot use that mode without losing a lot of producivity fixing typos. Did you have this issue with yours?

    I just drop a full cup of coffee on my AIR75 original. While it may still work, I had a look at the V2 and was considering ordering one. I have a bunch of keycaps set and I am wondering if they will fit on the V2?

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  7 месяцев назад

      As long as they are MX keycaps that are low profile and the stabilizer connections are parallel with the switch, they will fit! If the stabilizer connections on the keycaps have an offset (not in a straight line with the switch), they won't fit.

    Well, I just got a logitech mx mechanical 100% keyboard ("for windows"). I'm returning it after one day of use, and will get the Air 75 V2 as soon as the black keys w/ brown switches variant becomes available again. I'm not a "snob" at all (used a compact logitech K360 for years and had no complaints), and i think the typing experience on the MX Mech is just fine. I was originally drawn to the MX because of the battery life. However, I HATE HATE HATE that I can't remap the lower right control key cluster (alt, fn, ctrl, and ... start?) even using the logitech options+ software. I also can't remap the fn key using windows powertoys key remapper because the fn key isn't a "regular" key. And why is there a start key on the right side now? At this rate, keyboards will have start keys in the home row! Oh yea, and if you want to use the "smart actions" to create macros or whatever in the options+ software you have to SIGN IN to a logitech account! That is so batshit insane I can't even comprehend it.
    I also got a M650 mouse to go with the MX keyboard (on the wireless dongle), to mimic my current K360 + M510 mouse. The "back" thumb button on the mouse **doesn't work** UNLESS the logitech options+ software is running!! serious, wtf!? I'm returning that as well.

    Do you know if the shine through keycaps are also PBT doubleshot? Basically I'm just asking if they're the same quality as non-shine through, and won't get "grease" marks, etc.

    hey thanks foor the nice review, i have a question.
    I just saw a review saying that the via/qmk profile is not saved on the keyboard. That it no longer works if you switch to Bluetooth. Were you able to test this?

    • @semiprotech

      Hi! Great question, I just did a little remapping using VIA on my Macbook in wired mode, then switched to bluetooth, and the keys retained the mapping that I applied. I did not try any macros but the remapping seemed to be retained no problem. I wonder if maybe someone did their remapping on the wrong layer? It does have several layers and Mac mode is layer 0, Win mode is layer 2, with the function layers being 1 and 3.

    Are there any alternative normal profile 75% keyboards that has both QMK compatibility and 2.4ghz with 1000 hz polling? I have been looking around but it is quite difficult to find such keyboard. I am on Linux and to use any proprietary software is automatically a fail criteria for me.

    Any idea if NuPhy is planning to do a V2 for the Air96 soon? I'd buy it in a heartbeat if the 96 had QMK/VIA and the other enhancements that the Air75 V2 got.

    I honestly do not understand all these keyboard makers that don't support/make custom kb with nordic layouts. They even give us the possibility to remap the keys ourself but dont make keycaps for that. They are honestly missing out on big revenue.

    I wonder why logi pop works 3 years without a change, while air 75 only 1 month. The keyboard mines crypto?
