Wooting 80HE Review - The Best Will Cost You
The Wooting 80HE is a fantastic gaming keyboard with ultra-low latency and tons of customization options, and it also has a great sound and feel for an HE keyboard. But it's a bit pricey for a plastic keyboard and the zinc alloy case boosts the price quite a bit.

    I've seen tons of reviews, but yours is by far the best. 👍👍 The visuals are great and make me watch a little longer. However, I find myself falling asleep in the middle of a review video and not waking up until the next morning. Those reviews are usually full of praise for the product and those reviews are taking over the RUclips world. I like your honest reviews more than the long-winded praise reviews. I like your style of reviewing. I hope we can keep seeing you around. I decided to go with tide65 based on your review, thanks again for sharing a great review. PS. I've seen a lot of products that support VIA but are not QMK based, and I've also seen a lot of half-assed products that don't support VIA commands properly. For example, I've seen a lot of keyboards that say they support VIA, but don't support LT, LM, S( A(. The next time you review a QMK/VIA-enabled keyboard, I'd like to see you cover whether it fully supports VIA commands in a wired/wireless situation.

    For me who just recently got into the hobby, both of these seemed like really good choices, so I actually did get them both. The Crush80 in navy blue and I did mount the FR4 plate, and the Evo80 in purple and the thocky configuration. I love tinkering with my boards, but I needed to get a good baseline that I can compare my builds to. Also I kept the Crush80 in the stock ANSI layout and got the Evo80 in the ISO layout, since it's hard to get good ISO keycaps if they don't come with the keyboard or breaking the bank. I was surprised how different the boards sounded and, for now, I have to say that I appreciate both their sounds equally. I got a couple sets of switches ordered to find out what exactly my taste is. But I guess that's another thing where there's not a single correct answer even for a one individual. After all, you can like both hip-hop and rock music.

    Great review. A few comments from the Wooting support duck. 1:30 - A frosted, white/blue hue'ed case is also offered, though only as a standalone case for customer replacement or as part of a module build. 2:30 - This also duals as a very lightweight tape mod if you will. 2:50 - We also offer loose springs in weights ranging from 35 to 100g, though of course this is a lot more involved on the end user (I personally LOVE my custom L80V2 re-lubed switches) 2:55 - Only ANSI prebuilt keyboards come with the black, PBT keycaps preinstalled. For ISO and JIS no keycaps are included to allow for more language customization within the same SKU (with an adjusted price to match) 8:15 - The dimming is actually a safety feature, that you can override. Some aftermarket cables can't quite handle the pressure of Tachyon and a high LED brightness combined, so we soft-cap it at 70% brightness. If you click the lock icon on the brightness bar, you can push it back up to 100% with one of our (or compatible aftermarket cables). If we didn't do this, some customers would complain that their keyboard would suddenly start to glitch out and type randomly by itself. (We even have a video on this topic) 10:45 - We hope to add more interesting features to the LED bar, as we wrap up development and polish on the V5 Wootility. 15:55 - This is ultimately a design choice to not be considered a "cheating keyboard", where hardware macros often risk falling into. We are working on a better implementation for the macros, where Wootomation will likely be merged into Wootility with an optional, background service. This would mean that outside of any app actively blocking OS level macros (competitive games in particular), you would not notice the difference, once everything is set up.

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech День назад

      Thanks for all the info! That macro solution sounds great. I get that having hardware macros can make them available for use in gaming which can be used to create an unfair advantage, but having them also makes the keyboard a better overall multi-purpose tool for daily productivity in addition to gaming. Excited for the future updates!

    @joelbarto1103 2 дня назад

    There seemed to be a noticeable between the updated transmitter and the update going into the camera. Can you offer a simple explanation or do you have a video on the topic?

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech День назад

      There will be a difference between the internal recording in the transmitter and the in-camera audio with pretty much any camera, because the in-camera audio is running the signal through the camera's preamp and analog to digital converter. Camera audio hardware is generally not the greatest - the budget goes into the imaging hardware, not the audio hardware. Some cameras are better than others, for example the sound quality of the audio input on my Lumix S5II is better than my Sony FX30. That's one reason I like the built-in recording in wireless mic transmitters, it allows me to have an audio file that is unaffected by the camera's audio hardware.

    Actually I'd say the K3 Max is sized right battery wise. It's a 75% keybord so slim and light is the goal the more battery means the heavier it is. For my desk I have a K10 Pro 100%. If I'm putting a lithium ion battery in my bag to carry really I want the extra amps to be multipurpose charge phone/ watch/ Kindle / iPad 1550maH is ok that will weigh hardly anything. Plus charging once a week feels like a good habit target 78 hours gives 14 hours over 5 days and 8 more on Saturday and plug it in on Sunday for charging up or 7 days at 11 hours a day that's a long time. Nuphy I'm UK based ISO not an option so out of the running so buying K3 Max.

    Literally everything I wanted to know about the board. Very balanced review. This is the way. Great stuff. I was looking to get another great ISO board, but there's quite the steep price bump if you want to get it here in Germany ($160 for the barebones version on Akko's website). I think at that point you're better off getting the Wobkey Crush80 (which is ISO compatible if you get a $20 switch plate that you can easily find on the internet) or the qwertykeys/ Evoworks Evo80 for $20-30 more, but have prettier colors than just plain white or black, a (rare) high quality ISO keycap set and a set of good switches, rather than just the board. If it was possible to get the barebones version for $90 here, I think it'd be an absolute steal. For $160, I don't think it's worth it.

    I just bought the black F99 with the Star Vector switches. These switches feel and behave like silent cherry reds, but because there is so much padding in this keyboard you have to press harder to make sure you activate the key. I feels really nice and creamy to type on (if that's your thing). I am use to typing on Cherry MX Reds, so you gotta remember to press a bit harder with this board. I use the Bluetooth and it's very responsive. I'm going swap out the switches eventually. I don't really like the F99, but for most I would recommend it. Overall it's really nice.

    Hey, thanks for the review! I just saw that you used the USB output to film with your iPhone but is that also possible with the VideoMic GO II? I can't get any information about this because every review mentions the USB output for a podcast style recording on the Rode App. Kinda frustrating as i want to use it in a digital way for better quality while filming on my phone... Thanks again.

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech 5 дней назад

      Yes, the VideoMic GO II works over USB connected to your phone, it just depends on which app you're using as to whether you'll be able to control the level. Some video apps don't have an audio input level that you can adjust (like the native camera app) and others like Blackmagic Camera let you adjust the level. Since there's no physical level control dial on the GO II, that's the only thing that can be annoying, but it works fine connected to a phone over USB. If you're recording audio only, same thing really but I think most audio apps do have a level control except maybe the built-in voice memo app. Hope that helps!
