Looks abselutely stunning. Peugeot has been killing it the last 5 years.
best design of among all the competitors without a doubt
The green is brilliant, the styling is brilliant and the badge…. It’s like a Thundercat which makes it look awesome.
I saw one in real life last week for the first time and i was so stunned by the looks that i almost drove off the road. This car should be illegal because it looks so awesome!
😮 give your head a wobble its attractive for sure not groundbreaking by any means.
@@bensmithkent22 yeah i still think it is.
im considering one now as it happens. Shame about the engine but given last years ridiculous insurance hike I need to downsize and economise. I prefer this to the new astra. But that has heated seats and a heated wheel in gs line which is allure trim level. GT rivals the astra ultimate. I think allure premium is the sweet spot the 17s on this look bigger and fill the arches more than the astra on 17s
We need to reserve judgement on the infotainment system it’s work in progress - and then spends the next 5 mins talking about it 💁🤦♂️
I would like to know what is it from underneath
He also calls it way better than the Golf's system? And calls the Golf system worse than the Leon's? What? The Golf's system has way better response than that Peugeot's, is just as configurable and has a way less confusing layout than Both the 308 and the Leon. He really hates the Golf doesn't he.
Never been a big fan of Pugeots, although we did have a 207 once, but these days their product range is very exciting and this car is stunning, they really have got in the zone.
Check out the 1968 504 convertible was a stunning car
Peugeot styling is finally getting closer to the icons of 205, 306, 405/406, after some diabolical ones... 307/407 I’m looking at you. However, at almost 40k there’s a lot of premium competition.
@@davidlillis1114 Probably not the only thing you'd take all day long :-)
I don't really agree with that. I know all design is subjective but it doesn't have the cool and simple design of the 30/406. It looks overstylised and the cockpit it too fussy. I would take the bus over this! I'd like to have one for a week though and be proved totally wrong. I quite often have a radical change of mind! 🤣
@@davidlillis1114 naked ones then.
The two you have missed is the exquisite 504 convertible from 1968 and the 1971 304 cabriolet
@@alextoft9199it will be a rental special not too hard to sample it. People raving like its some ultra premium rare beasty.
It’s a work of art I sat in one yesterday and was blown away I have a golf and it’s really up there for my next choice
I always love your car reviews because they are very informative and comprehensive. I also liked this review, although comparing seat Leon to Peugeot 308 is rather inappropriate, given the superiority of the latter in terms of build and ride quality and their chaotic difference in the overall refinement and fineness. In my opinion, Peugeot 308 is by far the best car in the c-segment now.
Absolutely.
Im sure there is not much difference the leons are everywhere and a vag product. This hasnt suddenly achieved golf 7 or a3 levels of solidity and tactility even if they were the generation before. Its good looking for sure and uses a mixture of fabrics to create an effect of perceived quality which masks some cheapness (as many brands do) they are all much of a muchness tbh even the koreans. Guy at works got one brand new the 3008, had a poke about as I love to do with the interiors and was stunned how shocking the rear legroom is. Hard topped rear doors too. Id wager its not got some amazing magical levels of refinement vs a leon or golf either or even a focus.
Cannot agree more
So many on here have no clue when talking about the asking price.. Have you seen how much cars cost? This isn't just a Peugeot thing
Just because other cars now cost astronomical amounts doesn’t mean the Peugeot asking price isn’t to be gawped at either! At least Peugeot are offering cheaper models (sadly ICE only) though, whereas the likes of the cheapest Renault Megane has jumped from £18k pre-2021 to now over £29k! I can’t imagine previous Renault customers looking to trade up to the newer model are going to be happy at an £11k minimum premium over their last Renault purchase, it’s no wonder the used market is seeing massive demand!
Why do car manufacturers choose microchips from 2002 into their 2021 cars? It’s weird considering you can buy a £50 phone that’s faster/smoother than the infotainment of a car costing £40k
Its not 2002 chips.. it the fact they choose infotainment system when they start to design the car so most of the time its 2years old already.. And it need to be vibration-proof etc
@@sportshighlights8708 the chips in most current cars are way older than 2 years. More like 10 years old.
@@joey-pn3xe Idk heard that on another youtube video.. I dont know how they cant fit 500$ tablet im a car.. st least 2Ghz processor..
@@sportshighlights8708 it’s very strange considering the fact that it brings down a cars appeal of everything is laggy on something that seems such an easy fix.
It's simple: reliability.
A chip that's an integral part of a product meant to be used to 15 years at least will have to be tried and tested.
Older chips are also much easier to mass-produce and cheaper to buy.
This 308 is much better looking then the Golf, it's a beautiful interior, why he thinks it's not good, best looking car out there
Probably the best looking hatchback by far.
I think the video is quite good as an introduction to the car, but since you drove the top version, you ought to know (and say) how it differs from the others. You mentioned the range of the "weaker" version, but not this one. I'm sure it's higher, otherwise why make it so much more expensive? And what about charging? How long does it take in this new model and what cables are included? We need some hard facts, please, guys...
The design is really interesting and compelling but the price is hard to justify in the higher trims.
Best looking car in class, the competition are so so dull.
People are still appalled at the price of the Peugeot 308 compared to the Golf, but who says the Golf is a better car? It used to be that way, but today, you can no longer claim that the Golf is better and of better quality than the Peugeot. At one time, the Golf was the most advanced in its class, the best in shape and very high quality. Golf today is solved only by the old glory of the vehicle.
It looks great, but £38k! That's very nearly Golf R money for a hatchback and it's not far off from the hybrid 508, which looks better and has more space
dunno, what would be the cost difference compared to an hybrid golf?
A golf RLine 150cv petrol is at about the same price here in France.
Skoda Octavia vRS, just saying....
Ridiculous money for a 308. Cars are just stupidly overpriced now.
@@dimsoneill the Skoda RS costs 41k€, it is 3k€ more expensive here in France.
It is the best looking family car. Also best looking non-family car 😆
I wanna drive the diesel version from London to Paris and back to London again on a tank of fuel.
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. A great Family Hatchback and very stylish as well
Stunning looks, iv just ordered a new 2021 208 allure premium
Bought a 308 delivery June 2022.
Isn't it wonderful to have the steering wheel on the right side? 😅🙈 By the way, I think this is the most beautiful hatchback on the market, and the closest to the premium of all non-premium manufacturers.
Alfa Romeo and Peugeot really beautiful in that green.
Not sure on the looks. The design is a bit overcomplicated to me, with too much creases and design elements... Doesnt look bad but if the AMAZING BX was "origami design" this is a bit "crumpled paper design".
Apart from that, it appears to be very well engineered and put together, I might buy it.
As for french reliability, still driving my 2009 C4 and no complains so far and no mechanical faults so far. Only scheduled maintenance and a small piece that broke.
I have a 2021 Peugeot 3008 and it is the best car I've had feels really premium and drives superb and I'm sure the 308 will be the same.Great colour the green really suits the car.
I really like your honest reviews. Keep up the good work!
Just for the looks alone I want one. I’d take one over a Golf just by looking at the 2 side by side
I agree its more attractive than the golf by a long way esp if you use a life spec one as a comparison. Engines however will be an eye opener. Drive this puretech miserable lump vs a tsi 1.5 and measure them in real world day to day flexibility
It does my head in how all these car reviews focus on tall adults in the back seats. Quite frankly I very rarely have an Adult sat in the back, what people buying this class of car want to know is, how easy is it to put a babies car seat in/what it will be like for a child to sit in the back. The adults will be up front!
I have ordered the 308 gt in glacier white.
I don´t know if its better than the Golf, but the design its the best in the class.
Very nice looking and lovely to drive once you get used to the low small wheel
To answer to title question, yes.
Showing the centre storage with the camera basically sat on the passenger seat? You may as well have shown the boot capacity with the boot closed, or the camera switched off completely. Car's lovely though
I will choose 308
Check out the Peugeot forum for missing specifications on the new 308. I took delivery of a new 308 GT on 19th October. Missing due to global part shortages... no wireless charging, no 3D feature on the i-cockpit, no heated windscreen, no centre console coloured led. Seems that Peugeot expect us all to accept these missing specifications but pay the same price.
that's why I go for the SW version; more space ; 548L PHEV / 608L combustion versions
Love the green
Will they still not move the fusebox over ?
Cool peugeot.
Best looking but prefer proper buttons for aircon
The best looking...
Definitely best looking by far
Looks good but you can get a Merc 250e for that money.
nije danas teško bit bolji od golfa
Baš too
pričaj srbski če celi svet da te razume :-)
It's the best looking for me too.
Peugeot is doing a great job! I wish I could drive one here in Kansas :(
How much would it cost you to import it? Just curious
I just don't understand one thing, why is it so hard to make speed value (km/h) on cockpit fluid? Why does it have to go from 50 to 57 in instant? Why just cant go from 50, than 51, 52, 53 etc?
Torsion beam at the rear, or multilink?
I'm staggered to think that with a couple of options this would be a 40k car.... 😳😳😳😳
Is the drivers seat electrically adjustable.
Which one would you choose 208/308/ VW polo/ seat ? Or fiesta ?
Not interested until they make a hot version. I buy Peugeots because of the love I still have for my 1987 205 GTi, and my 1981 205 GTi. In 2016 I got a 208 GTi which is the nearest they’ve got to the classic model since. I replaced that with a 308 GTi, which arguably was a mistake. It’s quick, but average in general. Now, there is no hot hatch option at all in either range
Also the new 208 and 308 are crazily more expensive than the previous versions
I have a 308 HDi (2L diesel). Great car. 150,000kms - it's just run in. And the 2L diesel is one of the best engines Peugeot used.
Eh a 1981 205GTi? Know what you mean but didn’t they come into production about 1983?
Design amazing. But go on Peugeot Web and get top versions which only has 150bhp and cost over 40k. Are they felt on the own heads?
I wish the front badge wasn't so massive. It takes away from a perfect looking car.
Looks don't drive!!!. I'm always amazed that most people mention the looks. Driving position- comfort - handling - reliability. They're the important features. The badge is irrelevant.
@@allanbriggs807Not a single like on your comment after a year would suggest otherwise.....
I'm all about the look of a car.
Most cars are reliable these days anyway.
multi-link or rear beam?
The 308 is certainly more exciting looking than the VW Golf and seems slightly more practical too.
It definitely looks better than the other ones
fantastic looking car....seat leon is no match fro this beauty...
Damned with faint praise. "cheaper models SHOULD be worth a look" ain't gonna open MY wallet
Cars are really becoming a luxury product these days.. it's a stunning car but that price... Anyway I can still dream lol.. Thanks for the brilliant review..
Mate the basic one is 18k here in Romania
Design of this Peugeout 308 is fantastic. I did not like the price of this car, it is almost the price of Audi A3. The only rivals of this car is German cars. But I consider this car more interesting than VW Golf. Why do not they use in Peugeout any more physical climate adjuster like in Renault cars? I hope that multimedia system is more responsive and fast now. I pay a lot of attention to responsiveness of multimedia system.
Yes it’s the best looking
Will this car be available for a government grant for wallbox charging in the uk?
I like that Peugeot are making the new 308 in a diesel engine because Citroen & Peugeot make exceptionally good diesels but at the same time I must say that I am surprised that they have opted to go with a diesel version once again as most car makers have already stopped diesel car production.
You do realise that not everywhere in the world people like petrol cars?
I believe diesels are still really popular in France
Give me 3 round knobs,AKA 1995 where i can operate in the dark without taking my eyes off the road...cars are getting so deadly we're 1 step away from having to stop the vehicle for the most basic tasks! Just trying to justify the rip off cost!
The SW version will be even more stunning. With some nice aluminum wheels and tinted windows. I can't wait to drive.
Bet its great fun with that 130bhp hauling that extra weight about. If this had something with ballpark 150/160bhp as its regular petrol id be all over it. It will just be miserable real world once you get over the striking looks. This saddens me more so with the new astra also attractive but missing the decently nippy (for a shopper) 1.4 turbo.
@@bensmithkent22 it actually goes quite well I have the 1.2 130 and I have come from a 1.5 150 golf and there isn’t much difference I do wish a manual was available auto has been harder to get used to
Finally French cars are looking different on the inside ... Like they were before!
308❤
It’s funny how when you think the Golf does something better than a Peugeot, Vauxhall, or Renault you have to name-drop it. But when the others do something better, you gloss over it, like how you go monotone and drab when talking about the Peugeot hybrid boot space and quickly mumble something about it being ok and some other cars in the class not being quite as good! Maybe big up brands like Peugeot with a little more enthusiasm when they clearly are better than in areas over the Golf!
wish the;d just make a 225 non hybrid would be cheaper
maybe price ir in the middle of the 180 and this?
Looks nice
Great styling Peugeot but over £30.000 for a hybrid is to much as now there are £25.000 new fully ev’s now coming onto the market.
They should make ev too
More importantly, will they be doing a gti version?
I can only think of the Mazda 3 as a competitor to this one in terms of looks.
Does it have a better interior than the new c class?
Design is far more better than rivals and aggressive
Once again you test the top of the range, which is not the one you will recommend.
Electric tailgate is something that I feel is completely unnecessary.
Since when have people lost the ability to close a boot lid themselves?
The one thing I have found is a bit helpful is the grip or handle on the underside of the boot lid which allows you to pull it down. Which is useful if like me, you aren't particularly tall.
Dont be fooled, the cost of manufacturing such a feature is probably very low and completely unnecessary but it let's them justify an ever increasing purchase price. Simply put shareholders demand that they build expensive, high margin cars and that means roling in lots of features that get people buying but don't increase costs much. In car screens are a good case in point, expensive addition for whats basically a cheap tablet.
Electric closing is actually slower than just closing it yourself
How does the 308 compare to the new Citroen C4? (quality/ride/comfort)
Yes best of the best
Like the look of the car, but not keen on the new Peugeot badge stuck to the grill.
The price though for the range topper 😬 That means it's swinging arms around at the chins of the Cupra Leon's, GTI Golf's, and the slightly more expensive Audi S3.
Either way, excellent, informative review! Great job What Car! 👍🏻
The new logo looks almost as tacky as Cupras logo...it seems the designer couldn't find a clear design language and went for "more is better"...there's are just too much elements/creases/angles outside and inside. Probably a design than won't age gracefully
Agree. I'd rather have the Seat Leon 1.5 TSI 150 HP
if you cannot see the cohesion, the fault lays not with the 308
@@djnigellove if I throw our daughters building blocks on the floor in an random order, thats the same cohesion you talking about😄🙃
@@ronpower7790 I bet every single block is beige

French cars and comfort is the thing that are inseparable
I'm really pleased with my new Peugeot 308 GT petrol, it's a great car. I've had it almost a month and do I regret my decision YES. The reason why is that Peugeot are supplying the new 308 with missing equipment. Mine is missing...heated windscreen, wireless charging, 3D i-Cockpit, heated steering wheel and traction control deactivation. There should be a series of function buttons to the bottom right of the steering wheel. My car just has 5 blanking plates where these should be and this missing kit is not an isolated incident, search for - Peugeot Forum..Missing Specifications. It's my first and last Peugeot. I'm in touch with Peugeot UK but haven't got anywhere yet !!!
Volkswagen have done the same I think it’s due to chip shortage still and Ukraine war my t roc has missing spec from
What it should have but in their case I had a email from Volkswagen to let you know also engine cover missing
The steering wheel is inside the screen. The second screen at the right, is not ergonomic also, huge lag also. Even a tablet with 400$ is faster. What abour reliability for the engine and all this electronics? Would they give a strong warranty for the customer who gives his money?
This and the new astra stand out alot.
The new Ceed and i30 stand out too but the Peugeot and Vauxhall look way cooler, this is coming from someone who's family has owned 9 Kia's over 10 years
9 KIAs over 10 years, I know you probably have your own reasons but I find it hilarious once said out loud 🤣
How do you afford that?
@@baronvonjo1929 we bought the entry cars until the 5th car then we always got the top one, payed on pcp
Astra is the same car as 308
UNREAL CAR!!!
yea its not for sale
i see many coments on the prices but i think people should compare hybrids to hybrids and thermic to thermic.i can say that the golf GTE is cheap...(still more powerful)
This car was my #1 option as my next car then I got into one in a salon, and it felt very small in the inside. The seat was compressing my side, I could move the knees, very little space over the head. I'm 1.87m but very lean, so that was surprising,my current car (Octavia Combi) doesn't feel like that. Did you have the same impression?
=) excatly today i went to testdrive a 208 and a 308. It was my first peugeot experience .The rly first thing that i experienced after sitting behind the steerling wheel, was, that the cockpit room seems kind of squezzed. i felt kind of restricted even there is enough space. I think its because they place the whole amatures very high up. after driving it i got used to, but its not the best feeling overall
I think the lack of space in these which as you all know are the same as the astras now and especially in the astras case vs the k before is the fact they were designed with the hybrids and full ev options in mind. As is the case for the smaller 208 and corsa. That stuff takes up space. They have done what they can with the packaging and made them far more attractive and premium feeling than the 308 and astra k that went before.
There goes again the systematic devaluation of French cars just by basis of their origin and nothing else.
Anglos and their hate 😩
Here’s one British person who loves French cars had four with no issues at all and in the family we’ve had 13 Citroens and 4 Renaults
Nice opel!
Other way round the Opel is a nice Peugeot Citroen
Almost 39 grand no wonder I haven't seen any on the road so far. I think most people would buy a BMW, Audi, or VW Peugeot really need to think about their pricing lol.
They have done a great job and its absolutely worth it. Their sales performance per model in mainland Europe is outstanding so much so that VW has started copying Peugeot - seen the VW Lamando?
The car looks adorable, I just wish they can put a combustion engine that is close to 400hp...
the version basic 130 hp is the best , light and good driving
But isn't that the 3 cylinder engine which I've heard it's not very reliable?
@@Johnny24rs if i remember it was the first generation between 2013 and 2017. Peugeot replaced the engine for free
Way too slow for a modern car, I went for the GTi, still great economy but more than double the power.
@@PaulHawkins87 i daily drive a 60 HP Fiat and its fast enough for me. Could be a little faster of course, especially for overtaking but come on, do you really NEED 270 HP in a already rather light car? I think about 120 HP is a good amount of power that already makes many cars feel nimble enough, especially if its a diesel engine.
@@erdbeerschosch2839 It's not about what I need, it's about what I want. I'm a car enthusiast and enjoy spirited driving, as do many millions of others. And it's also very useful for overtaking multiple cars at once during the tourist season and everyone seems to be stuck in 3rd gear 🤣
Nearly 40grand top spec for a Peugeot hatchback? How times have changed ..
Hybrid... everything with batteries is expensive. Here in Germany the non-hybrid model starts at 24.000€ which is a pretty competetive price compared to other brands.
Absolutely!
"is there anything about this car that helps it stand out?" THE PRICE !!! £38K -- really got that wrong...... Good review by the way
You can only tell if its reliable, by owning it for 10-15 years. Not being brand new, or feeling the materials inside. Toyota is my go to car, because it works 15 years later with no hassle. The peugeot looks nice though.
I still have my 1.4 hdi peugeot 207 from 2006. Just changed the clutch and repaired the gearbox. 300 k kilometers in the city btw
