I haven't had the chance to play this update, but the way you describe it it does sound like a Wizard story and not a Pirate one. The Pirate has never been about saving the Spiral, they were always about treasure. Sure, beating the Armada to El Dorado does save all pirates, but that's just a nice side effect for the Pirate. They were looking for El Dorado before they even knew the Armada was after it. The Wizard wants to save the Spiral, the Pirate has no moral qualms stealing or even causing a war to get what they want. Shame about the Queen too, what a bad switch.
It's why Marleybone's story had so much depth to it that even I felt bad as a player after learning our actions from Puerto Mico and helping our catbeard and all that caused such a huge war and how we had to try and fix it but still failed to do so, living off a lie because the Marleybone army didn't know it was us who started it in the first place and all the things after, it was such a nice thing to experience in this game and now we get a wash down place holder mroganthe from temu as.... mannnn
I feel like, if they wanted to, they could roll with the idea of Queen not being “made for combat.” Generally, the strength of the bosses in the game have no correlation with their actual strength in the story. I mean, if we go by that logic, those unicorn guards from Valencia part 2 could make quick work of Deacon. But, anyway, perhaps Queen could instead be more of a Machiavellian Schemer than a robotic warlord like Kane was. Royal courts in history were filled with plots and intrigue so, it wouldn’t be too far fetched. It’d also be an actual subversion of expectations cause, most of the rest of the Armada relied on their strength and power while Queen would rely on her cunning and guile. Maybe Queen could disguise herself or something and plot behind the shadows for her return and then reveal herself in the middle of arc 2 or something. If done well, that could be an excellent twist. But no, instead they are going to make a twist just for the sake of a twist and not for any other reason. This has become an unfortunate trend in modern writing 😑
My BIGGEST fear ever since talks of pirate101 updates became a thing again, its revival etc.. was that they'd just turn the storyline into that tepid Wizard structure-- How do they fumble this so badly!?!?
I can see one argument with no level cap increase: Being at a capped level you're knowledgeable of can make developing areas with that level in mind easier since you can reference other endgame areas as a base, and seeing as Pirate, not only doesn't have nearly as many "learnable skills" as in Wizard, they dont have to worry too hard about constant balance changing. Something I was thinking of, considering Pirate seems to be struggling with updates... I mean... That's the only argument I can think of. The argument "Adding 5 levels should be easy" probably isn't as straightforward as people think it is... That means designing an entire new series of challenges with that level cap in mind. Plus currently, you can already almost learn every needed skill you need at the current level cap anyways. Unless they add more skills, increasing the level cap seems like a bad idea tbh...
There are mobs in the game that are level 80+ they have the areas, many of the fights are difficult, why not increase the level cap by just 5? If their tech can do it then why not? If it cant then thats understandable but they should be transparent about that
@Wizheadpluto I personally don't always trust the level given for the mobs (considering for a while Old Scratch's Skeleton Summon could be level 130+, but not sure if that is fixed yet). I don't think it is as easy as just add 5 levels because they have to figure out how to structure the xp across the quests and give us meaningful rewards for leveling up. Those rewards should not only be worth the effort to get it, but also not game-breaking. If we just increase the level cap without these steps, then it would mean very little besides the level number is higher. All things considered, I do want them to add more levels eventually. I don't think they can push it off much longer, especially for whatever is after Krok.
as soon as I saw that they reused everything from wizard101 I knew that it was going to be a terrible update. They said they can't figure out how to make skyways so this is what we get, apparently they don't even know how to make new areas either. I would much rather wait awhile for them to figure it out so we get an actually good update rather than this pathetic attempt at updating the game; which in turn is probably just going to do more harm to this game than anything.
Im okay with Arc 2 being episodes, however, if they are to do that, it should be a mostly filler story, I want the Armada to come back when they have all the resources to make new worlds, until then they can have these reused areas but make the villain or villains filler
I hope this villain is for just filling the plot. Like I hope we see queen is in the shadows trying to resurrect Kane and once we defeat the dragons pyre one we learn that kanes back
There are players that are soft locked at the rope part of the pyramid, the gear is very unimpressive, maybe besides the privateer weapon which is nice for that class. Otherwise it is a such a nothing-world. The only good thing that came from Krokotopia P101 is that the mobs drive nice pet snacks, that's about it. The gear is bad, the world is bugged as it makes everything a gauntlet. There are boss fights that players can't join even though combat allows players to normally join (like Spirits of Reprisal). This is sloppy, lousy, and mediocre work from KI. Correct per reply: privateers may want the will gear, I'm affirmative on my 2H axe argument. My point still stands that P101 Krok is such a disappointing world, it was clearly just made in about a week and just uploaded it.
The Sacred Axe and Setesh's Armaments are both good for melee privs and they can scale with Will. I wish I could get them but I'm soft locked at the rope. -_-
@@SoulHero7 mobs like the Scorpions in the pyramid drop the buccaneer gear (and good pet snacks too), but it's gonna be a long stick in there getting what you want. Drake raider mobs drop anubis gear too, but witch tart gear is better than anubis gear, also Frosted Drakes pet snack is nice (it's 50/50 if you get it or not per fight)
They really dropped the ball with Oksana. Her design is ugly and her motivation is totally lame. And idk why she works with the draconions. Draconians were members of the Dragon Titan's army. The same army that killed the entire population of Dragonspyre. They had so many options for a cool villain yet they chose a discount wizard villain. My idea would be for Anubis to go rogue and want to overthrow Death because he finds Death incompetent in dealing with death magic and the undead. And let Anubis have a krok army. It is crazy that we go to Krokotopia and we don't even fight a single krok. They already had the models from Wiz yet were too lazy to animate them.
(I know it's not that simple but there's gotta be something they can do. Like maybe grandfather the gear and/or the badges dropped from those updates and in future updates drop gear that's the exact same stats?? Idk I just really don't wanna see the game go this way)
So we need to delete a decent chunk of the game, making there only being enough xp for new players to reach max if they side quest, and making obtaining top gear impossible as the area to get it is completely gone??? I hate sounding cynical here, and I am hoping you were joking more but I feel like taking it seriously. I think we essentially have to work with what we got here, the decision to make VA Pt2 was done back in 2015, we can't really rewind the clock without essentially obliterating the endgame here. Arguably it would be more work to get everything back to when lvl 65 was the max and continue from there then it would be to keeping adding new story segments to start building a new story. Whether we like it or not, the old story for Pirate101, the first arc that is, has concluded, and it is time to press on with the next arc.
I dont think they need to delete arc 2, I think they can change it up to either replace Oksana with Morganthe, or just scrap the queen of battles fight and dont bring up Queen at all yet, or (preferably) just scrap the second half story of Krokotopia and have Queen be the villain. I always loved Pirate because of its story, so if theres an update delay just to fix the story then im fine with that
@Wizheadpluto it's really what makes it different from wizard. Wizard101 is a card game with a story to give you reasons to use your cards. Pirate101 is a full-blown classic RPG/MMO hybrid set in the world of what was originally the setting for a card game. It is a really interesting case.
This is really disappointing to hear about the new update. I understand the point of the test realm is to help find bugs, but when the bugs are this jarring something should’ve been done in the development phase, not now. I haven’t played the sinbad arc yet (nor have I seen krokotopia’s entire storyline because the only playthrough I’ve seen before this couldn’t make it all the way to the end due to the bugs) but, is the story as lazily done there as it feels like here? They could’ve done this insane reveal to show that the queen was still alive and the armada are still a threat. Why switch up and make basically a wizard101 arc 2 villain? IMO, I think arc 2 had one of the weaker story arcs in the game (mainly because of the ending where she’s beaten by “absorbing to much power” and breaking the glass under her). Having an insert that even LOOKS similar to Morganthe just feels like the team working on the story just copy and pasted her over without thinking of a way to incorporate the former story in. Also, what happened to the cinematic-like animations where they change the camera angle and make something cool happen? There was a part in the playthrough where el toro says he can use his whip to climb the upside-down pyramid and lower a rope for everyone to climb up and in, which would’ve been really cool to see animated. Is that really asking for too much to have little things like that added into the experience? It was one of the huge reasons I got excited to play the game. No matter how you look at it, it just feels rushed to make people want to play the game again and pay money for it. The fact of the matter is, I think I’d rather wait a couple years if it means Pirate101 gets a fully fleshed out world with a good story arc, amazing new animations, and little to no bugs (especially not game-breaking ones).

Swashbucklers can't dodge (or rather almost never dodge even with end game gear) anymore which massively handicaps them to an extent not seen with any other type. The game is still set on the OP Witchdoctors same old same old rinse & repeat runs Buff, attack, kill everything, done). No new levels or abilities. Vastly over powered mobs that can kill companions on the first turn. There seems to be some assumption every player has already gotten top tier everything and spent years mixing pets to cerate the perfect pet which screws casual players meaning getting friends to come back after years is a no go when they see how nerfed they are compared to a freaking mob. Honestly it seems designed to just waste time, kill all your companions, and force you to run back and forth to miracle mitch. And it wont get fixed because the long time fans that spend all day on the game go on the Discord and applaud any piece of crap handed out.
But, if they did use Morganth, wouldn't you still be complaining about basically the same thing for sure? I'm not saying you're wrong about them referencing Wizard101. But they merely crisscrossing them that little bit. At least she is a different charactor.
Id complain that they wasted Queen and didnt go with Queen as the villain. Morganthe is much more interesting than this Oksana character. But neither of them should be “Arc” Villains
I mean queen could always come out of the wood works and help who ever this is. But I would have loved if they used Morganth with some of the dialogue that was said in the underworld.
As a Privateer, the new gears leave me confused. The Sacred Axe is really good for offensive Privs and Bucks that want a strong heal, and the Setesh's Armaments are perfect for defensive Privs (like myself) to hold down enemies and counterattack. Both weapons are Slashy/Smashy and can scale with Will or Strength. So why is the new Privateer totem built around the Staffy weapon that's clearly meant for Witchdoctors when the new Privateer weapons they just made are Slashy/Smashy?
i cant even get to the previous new update because sinbad questline (was a sidequest meant for fully geared max levels, now made main quest!) is impossible to solo and nobody plays the sinbad dungeons anymore, so what do you fuckin think my opinion is?
It's a shame after all these years this is the best they can do I give this new villain a chance at first we did not know who Morganthe was when we seen her before we fought the shark bosses in Celestia then at the end of that world we found out she was a student of Wizard City now they could tie this new villain to Avery Marco Polo or to our parents. It's a shame how Krokotopia got so much hype and we knew around Kane quest line was going to go there at some point even a few hints before and it was a let down I hope Polaris won't be like this.
This will sound pretty stupid and childish but I was hoping for Queen the partner to supreme Commander Kane the leader of the Armada because back in 2016 during that last cut scene the words said the end? I had this theory since 2016 what if the queen took over the Armada and started looking for the pirate declaring war on them. That's my take on that one this new update is terribly bad the only good thing is the damn music that's it. Edit: who's idea was it to create another necromancer we don't need another one there will never be another malistaire or morganthe adding a third necromancer make things go out of whack this new necromancer is pretty stupid.
Only because I like playing Devil's Advocate, counter point: There will never be another Kane as well, so why do we another super powerful Clockwork Robot? I know that is not really the point you are going for, but really the only thing Queen has going for her is that cutscene, she does not have much build up in VA2 aside from that she was Kane's greatest creation (which is pretty strong ngl). Either way, neither route is perfect in my opinion but they still need time to flesh out the story a bit for these villains (next update could (and damn well better) go more into Oksana's motives besides defeating Death and becoming all powerful, like if she has a reason behind it such as the crippling of Dragonspyre by the Dragon Titan, or possibly being an apprentice of Malistaire or Morganthe at some point (that one is definitely a stretch, even for me)). Does that kinda make sense for what I am getting at?
All I can say is welcome to Gamigo’s greed 😂. Tbh they just need to sell the game to somebody else who’s going to do it justice because at this point. It’s disappointment after disappointment. I understand that the budget it’s not what it used to be to be and you don’t have that many people on the game, but my god.
i feel like ki is getting head-over-heels with their content after the sold. we have wiz, wiz console, wiz rpg, p101... with that much work there's destined to be some lazy content
I've been playing the game since Pirate101 beta 2012, before the release date. People got to understand that their skills are far beyond the old team skills. Copying Tartarus from wiz just goes to show you what they're capable of doing. I don't know if you guys been around since 2012-15 the updates were really great back then. They lost the staff that knows how to make the story great-the skyways, ship gear, maps, etc. Don't expect to get the same quality updates as we use to have.
@@bravejonah not asking for huge updates, but the bare minimum should be avoiding quest blockers, the fact there were 3 of them in 1 test realm was too much.
@@Wizheadpluto They are currently fixing bugs (If they fix them). I'm expecting the new update to drop next week. Their skills aren't close to having a new world. It's really sad that more new updates will be like Wiz, especially the story. Bellatrix is also having an issue like general Argonon did for Tartarus. I highly doubt they can bring new original content on their own because they're so inexperience
@Wizheadpluto basically if you have a brutal charge reduce or a bleed effect if quinn is near any companion she'll auto heal and remove the 1 negative every round for people who are close to her
Before they changed it, the Bellatrix fight was definitely unique as it was to survive for 10 rounds, but definitely not interesting for me. The fight with Armada troops crammed in a small battle arena with explosives made for an interesting combination for me, but I can see what you mean there with 90% of the fights.
It was either gonna be will smith meme or “theyre eating the armada, theyre eating the queen” (second one just didnt work out 😔 ill use it in a future video)

The Sacred Axe is really good for offensive Privs and Bucks that want a strong heal, and the Setesh's Armaments are perfect for defensive Privs (like myself) to hold down enemies and counterattack. Both weapons are Slashy/Smashy and can scale with Will or Strength.
So why is the new Privateer totem built around the Staffy weapon that's clearly meant for Witchdoctors when the new Privateer weapons they just made are Slashy/Smashy?
i cant even get to the previous new update because sinbad questline (was a sidequest meant for fully geared max levels, now made main quest!) is impossible to solo and nobody plays the sinbad dungeons anymore, so what do you fuckin think my opinion is?
It's a shame after all these years this is the best they can do I give this new villain a chance at first we did not know who Morganthe was when we seen her before we fought the shark bosses in Celestia then at the end of that world we found out she was a student of Wizard City now they could tie this new villain to Avery Marco Polo or to our parents. It's a shame how Krokotopia got so much hype and we knew around Kane quest line was going to go there at some point even a few hints before and it was a let down I hope Polaris won't be like this.

This will sound pretty stupid and childish but I was hoping for Queen the partner to supreme Commander Kane the leader of the Armada because back in 2016 during that last cut scene the words said the end? I had this theory since 2016 what if the queen took over the Armada and started looking for the pirate declaring war on them. That's my take on that one this new update is terribly bad the only good thing is the damn music that's it.
Edit: who's idea was it to create another necromancer we don't need another one there will never be another malistaire or morganthe adding a third necromancer make things go out of whack this new necromancer is pretty stupid.
Only because I like playing Devil's Advocate, counter point: There will never be another Kane as well, so why do we another super powerful Clockwork Robot?
I know that is not really the point you are going for, but really the only thing Queen has going for her is that cutscene, she does not have much build up in VA2 aside from that she was Kane's greatest creation (which is pretty strong ngl).
Either way, neither route is perfect in my opinion but they still need time to flesh out the story a bit for these villains (next update could (and damn well better) go more into Oksana's motives besides defeating Death and becoming all powerful, like if she has a reason behind it such as the crippling of Dragonspyre by the Dragon Titan, or possibly being an apprentice of Malistaire or Morganthe at some point (that one is definitely a stretch, even for me)).
Does that kinda make sense for what I am getting at?
All I can say is welcome to Gamigo’s greed 😂. Tbh they just need to sell the game to somebody else who’s going to do it justice because at this point. It’s disappointment after disappointment. I understand that the budget it’s not what it used to be to be and you don’t have that many people on the game, but my god.
i feel like ki is getting head-over-heels with their content after the sold. we have wiz, wiz console, wiz rpg, p101... with that much work there's destined to be some lazy content
The bugs were appalling here, though, i could forgive that if they didnt just ruin the story for me. And we also need XP again now.
I've been playing the game since Pirate101 beta 2012, before the release date. People got to understand that their skills are far beyond the old team skills. Copying Tartarus from wiz just goes to show you what they're capable of doing. I don't know if you guys been around since 2012-15 the updates were really great back then.
They lost the staff that knows how to make the story great-the skyways, ship gear, maps, etc. Don't expect to get the same quality updates as we use to have.
@@bravejonah not asking for huge updates, but the bare minimum should be avoiding quest blockers, the fact there were 3 of them in 1 test realm was too much.
@@Wizheadpluto They are currently fixing bugs (If they fix them). I'm expecting the new update to drop next week. Their skills aren't close to having a new world. It's really sad that more new updates will be like Wiz, especially the story. Bellatrix is also having an issue like general Argonon did for Tartarus. I highly doubt they can bring new original content on their own because they're so inexperience

@Wizheadpluto basically if you have a brutal charge reduce or a bleed effect if quinn is near any companion she'll auto heal and remove the 1 negative every round for people who are close to her

There wasn't a single unique or interesting fight this update.
Before they changed it, the Bellatrix fight was definitely unique as it was to survive for 10 rounds, but definitely not interesting for me.
The fight with Armada troops crammed in a small battle arena with explosives made for an interesting combination for me, but I can see what you mean there with 90% of the fights.
