I have a 5700X3D and I actually got my highest score at -10, 400+ points over stock in Cinebench R23. 13676 vs 13239. The score decreased -50 pts at -20, thought maybe margin of error so I ran again and got the same score. The main reason it increased so much from stock to -10 is because at stock it would run at 39x multiplier during most of the run. At -10 it would hold 40.5 for 100% of the run. I'm running my 5700X3D in an Asrock B550m itx motherboard / under a Thermalright BA 120 CPU cooler ("245w tdp*").
I have my PBO limits set to Auto because that is how it scores the highest. Set to "motherboard" it scores the lowest and when set to manual / the CPU maximums it scores below auto for some reason even though it never reaches them during benchmarks.

I have a Ryzen 3900 (65w model), it is much cooler than the 3900x, but the performance is capped. First thing I did was undervolt -0.130, which made it colder. I can't increase the fixed clock, it operates a little longer than the 3900x, taking 4.35Ghz, I changed the PBO leaving 120PPT 80 TDC and 120 EDC, in this I was able to maintain something around 3.9 to 4Ghz at full load, before it took 3.6 Ghz full load, in games it gets 4.2Ghz. And consumption remains lower than the standard 3900x. When I got a 5700x3d from a friend, I saw that there was no point in undervolting, I'm going to try your settings

Also - I'm sure this video will be great. Even though of course X3D chips are a "bit" harder to OC. ;) And in most cases OC on AMD isn't worth that much. Especially all-core - usually ends up with lower single-core speed than you'd normally get. But probably BCLK OC can get around a lot of that.

      @kayburcky7146 4 месяца назад +2

Yo, I am sorry but that kinda assumption here is part of the problem. Post code shouldn't be a premium feature, and it didn't use to be. Mobo manufacturers just gradually went there for the last few generations and the fact that you are surprised about a postcode on a lower tier chipset, that for all intents and purposes has everything your average consumer needs, kinda shows it's working....
But to actually say something useful aside from the bashing here (don't take that personal ofc I'm mad at the mobo manufacturers not at you) the cheapest AMD 500 chipset series boards with post code (which the zoid actually covered in a few videos) are ASRock b550 steel legends and similar (velocita and extreme4 are basically the same but in red and blue and with the hardware buttons actually soldered on for a little plus in price) for when they came out around the 200-250$ area iirc

When they were released post code wasn't something seen to much outside OC. So I didn't know about it being a thing when I bought X370 mobo. By the time I was looking at newer mobos (X570, B550), most of them didn't have post code. And sadly AsRock isn't available here in sane prices. Though next time I will ask about them - sometimes it might be cheaper to ship something from Western Europe than try to look for it here.

BCLK works on x570 but you have to unplug SATA
With only nvme plugged in bclk works
Maybe still not as good though idk dont have a b550
Otherwise I'm glad you tackled this
So many cope lords wasting their time on CO and pretending that limiting ppt or edc does anything useful
What people need to realise is that Global F Limit is an ALL CORE control scheme and its how the zen3 zen4 on cpu control system limits the chip when its getting hot and heavy
And that its basically meaningless with a gaming workload
And in terms of real world all core workloads - 7zip benchmark is the most accurate way to recreate a real world mc workload and its like 25% lighter than your average stress test
100% agree with you that people need to wake up and stop testing for stability in a meaningless way
    also
core cycler is king when tuning CO you want to just tickle the 1 core at a time with the lightest workload possible
that is where you will find instability with CO - you won't find anything by testing a all core workload
but at the end of the day
AMD took away +500 mhz AFTER release
then removed +200 mhz from x3d
    scummy company
that needs to be called out for the absolute rubbish it has on all its marketing material that states "all our cpus are unlocked"
when in reality unlocked is meaningless
and in reality they are a scum company
edit: so I just tried this out at 0 I get 110 score in 7zip, if I set CO to -5 I get 112 if I set CO more aggressively I still get 112 i.e. -20 or -30
    so 1.8% improvement...

    • @hammerth1421

You're wrong. The problem is the AMD boost algorithm. It's great for normal usage and terrible in this case. Buildzoid even talks through it, he had to disable boost clocks entirely, so the CPU always sits at the base clock multiplier times BCLK. He manually set the base clock to 3600 MHz, so that he's not starting out from 3000 MHz, but it's still not the same as boost clock times BCLK.

I have a theory for those imensely high stock Vcore. The chip quality(the ccd itself) most likely is rly bad on those 5700X3Ds. Which makes perfectly sense, as AMD would have labeled them 5800X3D otherwise. They can not use two ccds(to increase yield) here because of the 3D vcache(splitting the vcache makes no economic sense), so bad binning seems to be the only way to put out a "budget 5800X(3D)" at competitive prices.
That high vcore also busts a myth AMD created around their 3D vcache SKUs. They said the 5800X3d is not overclockable because of the 3d vcache itself, which is allegedly sensitive to higher voltages.(They should have skipped the "X" for those non out of the box ocable SKUs).
Hm and now we have the 5700X3D with the highest vcore values we have seen yet with Ryzen 5000.
Nothing wrong about "recycling" bad bins, but locking the customer out from basic bios settings like core freq and voltage, rly is a let down from AMD. Seems like 3D v.-cache can handle up to ~1,4v perfectly fine, so they could at least open those settings within the safe limits of the vcache. AMD CPU team is so much more restrictive with user applyable settings compared to AMD's GPU devision.

@@pcoverthink why don't you just challenge the numbers from my video? ;) If you're interested, I attached links in the pinned comment to other comparsons from my trusted channels. Some of them have zen3 tuned out with b-die, there are also 14500, 13600K, 14600K, 7600X, 7500f ones and I intentionally repeated the runs to show the ballpark fps in such games as AC Mirage, Plague Tale, Warzone, TLOU etc.
Try to beat my numbers with your tuned 5700x or 5700x3d, the reality might dissappoint you. The x3d isn't going to beat it in Warzone, Finals, many many other games (obviously it's better in some others).
I highly doubt zen3 (especially x3ds) will gain 25-40% in avgs/lows after a full tune.
And stock 11900K is faster than 5700x as well, stock 9900K is in the same ballpark too, a bit slower. You don't follow these mainstream numbers that run power limits right?
12900K with tuned ddr5 runs circles around 5800x3d, and it is very close to 7800x3d. You're making all of these claims here, do you even know the power of full ram/ring tuning, Especially now we're on an OC centered channel??? The reality is that a tuned intel system has always been at least slightly ahead in gaming stability of amd counterparts of that time.
Tuned out 9900K/10900K/11900K =~ stock 12700 6000 xmp =~ tuned 5700x3d. That is straightforward math. But these 12ths can do Way better, while older i9s and zen3 x3d are nearly at their max power in my example.

Even if your benchmarks are perfect, you just can't compare the number to any other review (Also, I can't find you mentioning any kind of channels anywhere) because a place where you test things will be different, as well as some of the settings or things like ReBar, driver version etc.
And yeah, I OC'ed about 50x DDR4 systems at this point and 3-5x DDR5 ones. I do full primary/secondary timing tune on any ICs and Ik that you see the most performance increase from this part of the process than from anything else.
I'll very likely do a comparison myself as I have 1 system on 9900K and another one on r3600 that will be upgraded to 5700x3d soon.
