    I'm late to the party because these videos are very old, however I'm so glad I found you! I have been on and off natural for most of my adult years , however I am coming off a good year and a half of wearing my hair mostly straight. I would say I have 3b 3c extremely fine hair . I have never really had an issue reverting back to curly but idk if it's because I'm in my 40s now, hormones ,or whatnot, but my hair is not having it lately. I seem to have forgotten what's worked for me in the past, and unfortunately alot of product, oils, etc are toi heavy for my hair and actually end up breaking it. I have been trying to follow so many tutorials, but just feel confused with all the contradictory info, and yes, I am guilty of trying to get twist outs to stay twisted whole I have straight heat damaged ends. So I am so glad I have found your tutorial woth exact week by week steps. This is exactly what I've been looking for. It's crazy because when I wasn't wearing my hair straight I've always been a wash and go girl and never had to put much thought into my hair because for the most part it's very easy to deal with. However now I actually want to grow my hair past bra strap length which is probably the longest stretches I've ever achieved. Clearly my practices have not been healthy for retention. I'm feeling much more confident now with your steps so thank you!!

    Hey,
    I've literally watched the entire series of how to transitioning to natural hair successfully, I must this is quite informative. I've been having a hard retaining growth and have be about 4 months post relaxer. I definitely hope that following your tips will be of great help to me and my hair.
    Can't wait to tell you know about my progress 😊.

    This was SO helpful and encouraging! I'm at the "scissor happy" phase and not seeing my curls bounce or take shape yet even though I've been moisturizing and conditioning! Glad to know that our curls need a little time to shape up! No one ever tells you this kind of stuff! Thank you soooo much!

    I'm 16 months post relaxer. And I'm literally thinking of going natural today. But the shrinkage part made me a little bit scared😂 just want to make sure my hair is long enough for a ponytail/puff. Have been wearing my hair in buns for the last 4-6 months. And I'm tired of it. You've been a great inspiration throughout my journey. So thank you for that

    Absolutely love this series and it’s helping me so much! I’m so excited to eventually have a full head of natural hair! Right now I’m afraid to cut my hair because it’s almost down to my waist but the ends are thin due to heat damage. After watching your series I think I’ll start cutting 1-1.5 inches at a time to get there sooner! Thank you! 🥰

    If you don't want too big chop. Get fenugreek, chebe, and henna. Chebe naturally detangles no effort comb, notes or heavy lifting. Make it a tea by adding hot water. Cooling and storing in the refrigerator for use when you need to wet your hair. Stops over manipulation, breakage, shedding and strengthens. You can style it as usual. For braid outs and easy transitioning hair styling. Put chebe in gels. It balances your PH so you don't get protein overload.

    I’m around 6months maybe more. I didn’t really keep track because I didn’t want to obsess and feel impatient to bc. I’m just doing lots of buns and two Bantu knot space buns. I don’t want to wear it out and have to detangle. My permed ends just stick together when wet and I can’t detangle. I’m kinda hoping I can just transition with trims and no big chop 🤣. We’ll see how long I last.

    😱 I wish I knew what I knew before, because I went back and relaxed my hair but I really didn’t have the time to do my hair like I really wanted too, but before the pandemic I had been working from home for about 2 years still going into the office for meetings so I had to look decent, but now we are having meetings on zoom and I can really learn my hair more so I am back at it wish me luck last relaxer was September 2020

    You hit the nail on the head with this phase! currently in phase 3 and have been very scissor happy lately. What stops me is def the thought of shrinkage so I'm hoping to keep doing small trims until I decide off it all goes lol! the hardest part right now is blending the many textures in my hair and def the concept of bad hair days.

    • @AminaMarie
      @AminaMarie  5 лет назад

      Phase 3 is when you really start to get on the fence of: Do I really need to keep growing this out?? But how will it look if I take the rest off?? 👀🥴
      Sounds like you’re doing all the right things though, just keep those trims coming and when you look in the mirror and say, why am I still hanging on to these straight ends - that’s when you know it’s your time!

    finger coiling is underrated. It takes like 2-3 hours but it lasts all week to day 8 WITHOUT any refreshing. Only adding oil to your ends when they get dry. Also the definition is crazy. Sooo low maintenance every curly girl should try at least once💕

    My last relaxer was in April. I’m at the oh no I just can’t manage this hair phase. I don’t want to do a big chop because I like the ability with length to do ponytails easily. My hair is bra strap length. I’m ready to do another relaxer to just give in but I’ve been here before. I mean wash days are traumatic now. Maybe I’m just not cut out for going back to natural sigh

    QUESTION:
    I have gone natural without realizing it, I haven't been putting any heat on my hair for 5 months and I've been seeing my curl pattern evolve.
    I still have heat damage, but I'm not ready to cut it off.
    I haven't been deep condition nor using sulfate free shampoo or any curl products.
    Its too expensive for me so I just wash my hair and put them in protective styles
    Any diy advice for me please?

    I want to know if doing a half ponytail all the time can affect the curls of the "crown" and stretch them? Cause I've been doing that hairstyle for a while know and I would like to know if it can change my curls of make the transitioning process slower for that side

    • @AminaMarie
      @AminaMarie  5 лет назад +1

      Good question! The biggest thing this can effect is your edges and top part of your hair if you’re pulling your hair too tightly. As long as it’s not too too tight this shouldn’t be an issue, but I would recommend mixing it up and maybe doing some looser or lower styles from time to time. I have a video with some easy styles you can try out if you’d like to mix it up! ❤️

    • @boyfriendshouse
      @boyfriendshouse 5 лет назад +1

      @@AminaMarie thanks 😊😊😊😊😊 I'll check it out. I think the hard part will be getting used to a new hairstyle cause I've been styling my hair that way for 5 months so it will be weird to see my curls in a different style but if it helps my process than it will be totally worth the change 😊😊😊

    So I was supposed to get my hair relaxed last month but I decided not to go back. Your videos are very helpful. I have high porosity heat damaged hair so my hair gets very dry. I have been using coconut oil, water to mist my hair when I feel it's too dry. I have products made by as I am but I'm not sure if I should stick with these products or try something else. My ultimate hair goal is to have long healthy hair that won't break off or get dry in the middle of the day. If anyone has any advice feel free to share. I also don't want to do the big chop.

    Question:
    How many inches of hair do u need to be able to put in an average size puff for type 4 hair?

    • @AminaMarie
      @AminaMarie  5 лет назад +2

      It’s really hard to say, but I think anywhere from 6-10 inches in its natural state (and that would be without tension). If you’re using a lot of gel and slicking it back (tension), I think it would be less!
      There are a lot of cute styles you can do with type 4 hair when it’s in its TWA phase, like twist outs with cute scarves around the edges, half up styles, and just letting the fro live it’s best life! It’s up to you!

    May coming imma be 1year without relaxer and I wanna cut my hair but I've never had short hair b4 so it's scary my hair is at 4inches (stretched) 2inches with shrinkage. I even cut off some parts of the back of my head to see how it would look and I love playing with it but one small section vs my entire head is a whole new story. Your videos have really been helping but I'm not sure if I'm big chop material. Plus I've never been the best at styling my hair. What styles would u recommend (note I love getting braids but that's hella expensive to keep getting) that are easy for persons who aren't that great a doing hair?

    Tight curls and lackluster hair plus natural color boost, henna. But not on chemical dyed hair. Henna also makes your hair grow and deep conditions it while transitioning. Too much and it will straighten or severely loosen curls. Do some research before use. 4C girls, amazing what it does for your hair. Anybody else also good, I'm 3C.

    Hey Amina I just want to say thank you for posting these videos because Im more confident to start transitioning. I have a question about my hair though. What can you do when ur roots are extremely thick and your hair is thin? I think my roots are what’s stopping me because it looks stupid when I wet it😭 do you have any tips?
