3 months heat free! And I'm feeling the pressure. I have a first date tomorrow, for which my go to was always to straighten my hair and I was considering it but your video has refuelled my will! Thanks!
+DavinaLeilah yes!! I hear you! Have you tried Bantu knots - that's a great way to get a smooth wavy style if you do somewhere between 4-6 on DRY stretched hair and use a little cream to help hold the style
I love your videos! You definitely inspired me to start my natural hair journey, especially since your texture is very similar to mine. I'm just having a really hard time sticking to heat free styles, and finding products that work for me. This video helped me alot! Thank you!
+Taysha Townsend yay glad it could help!! It was definitely a struggle for me at first but once you get your go to styles down you won't even look for the heat 💁🏽 Blow dryers are ok on the cool setting with the occasional shot of warm air so that helps with setting if you're ever in a rush 😊
Oh boy did I need to watch this! I haven’t had a relaxer since summer 2019 but I’m still straightening, that’s my go to. I need to just practice bantu knots or other protective styles. Thank you girl!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This video helped me sooooo much even down to the combs, brushes and trimming my hair which I was more concerned about. My hair has always been down to my bra strap so I'm not use to having short hair AT ALL!!! I haven't had a perm/relaxer in 15 years but I would still get my hair colored once every 2 years(after the color went down to my ends). The last time I colored my hair was a year ago to darkest brown to try to match my natural hair color which was only half of my hair, the last time I had a trim was 2 months ago(before I would get them once ever 3 months until I moved 5 years ago) and 2 months ago I decided to no longer use heat from a flat iron OR a blow dryer. I think that line you were talking about from your curly hair to the straight hair broke off in the back from heat damage(straightening once a week) which is when I decided to cut off heat...my roots are still curly(dry in the back where it broke off)...the shaft is tight but wavy and my ends are a pretty loose wavy pattern. I'm so concerned about someone trimming my hair while not straightened so I figured to just do it myself but wasn't sure how to do it and how often. Hair styles I wear looks super weird unless it's in a low or high bun(I could possibly get away with a ponytail because of the deep conditioning which leaves my hair so silky smooth and smelling great. I know it will take time(I'm impatient) but I'm excited about the aftermath!!! Thank you!!!
My aunt used to do relaxers on the top of my hair only, since it was very hard to tame. So my bangs are just very dead and this morning I got so scissors and started chopping the straight parts off. I've been natural since November and my curls are so good now! A year ago I used to hate my curly hair so much. Now I'm embracing it and I wouldn't have it any other way. At first it's incredible hard to get used to doing curly hair, since it just doesn't want to work with you. You just have to remember your goal and work towards it.
Angie !! The only way to repair heat damage is to remove it, so this video helps guide the steps on how to do that 😊 Unfortunately there is no way to reverse damage once it's done so taking good hair of your new hair while slowly trimming away the damage is the best way to restore your hair's health. If you stop using heat on your damaged hair and continue to moisturize it, this will definitely help reduce the amount of breakage you see as you transition your hair so that you retain some length as you go 👍🏽
YALL BOX BRAIDS OR KNOTLESS BRAIDS ARE A LIFESAVER. If your treating your hair right in between and while you have them in then you’ll be good. Not only do they make sure of you not using heat and helps you stop touching your hair. Idk bout y’all but when I have braids the growth is IMMACULATE!!! Oh and deep conditioners and leave ins are your besties! Good luck to my fellow transistioning besties we’re gonna make it💕
Oh my gosh I needed this vid so much that I can literally cry..I have been on my natural hair (transition stage)journey for a while now & I still don't know how to really style my hair..for the most part the only style I really do is a bun..I did a perm rod set once which turned out beautiful...I have only been using coconut oil which I love & the eco styling gel..but I felt like I need more natural hair products & tools so thanks so much for this vid..like you don't know how much this video has helped me..I'm going to the store asap to check this products out..💕👌
I want to transition. I haven't had a relaxer in a month, but its been flat ironed and now its in a pinup. I plan on starting this weekend, but I don't know how to start.
thank you so muchh for this video!I'm ready to transition and didn't know what to do or what products to use. i was wondering, will all the products you suggested work for 4c type of hair also? if you think some might not do you have any alternatives I can use?
Love you so much ☺️ thanks for the info ❤ 1 year and a half transitioning and my hair is better but not so curly like I would think it would be after a year.. when I was young my hair was like you and now its like 2B to 3B and I dont use heat at all since the beginning: what else can I do??? Thanks ♥️♥️♥️♥️
+Noémie gravelle thank you!! ❤ Is all of your heat damage gone? Most times when your damage is still attached to your curly hair your curls look significantly different than their full potential when that damage is cut off. If you're at a year and a half I recommend letting all of the damage go so you can see what your curls can really do! If you still want to ease into it, just keep trimming the heat as much as you feel comfortable 😊
Amina Marie thanks ❤❤❤ all my damaged hair is underneath and I cant cut it, because I would have to shave it to cut all the damage.. Im going to be patient and try the best I can! Thanks for helping me 😘😘
Thanks for the video Amina! what types of hair ties do you use for buns? I've been keeping my hair well moisturized. I only use rubberbands should I switch to something else? You really inspired me to jump into wearing my natural hair in a natural state and cutting out the heat! 3 weeks in with no heat and started to see some curl definition yesterday!!! Eekkk you should of seen ne in my bathroom trying to get a cellphone pic of that little curl definition 😂
+LaVondaMarie D 😂😂 I've been there! And throw those rubber bands away! Rubber bands are meant to hold together non-textured items together, your hair is too fragile for that king of pull from the rubber. I just use the no-pull black hair ties you can pick up from any store. No certain brand, just make sure there's no exposed rubber band. They do get lost from time to time so buying a big pack is helpful ☺️
I maybe the only person in the world that hates the smell and texture of the Coconut & Hibiscus Enhancing Smoothie. The shampoo from that line doesn't smell so bad and it's a good cleanser.
Another great alternative is the Curls Blueberry Bliss Twist N Shout Cream - I like the smell of that one a lot better and it does a great job at holding all the styles I mentioned :)
The smell is too much for me. I like the JBCO shampoo, but I got sick of the (leave-in conditioner) smell also. So I got Design Essential's hydrating leave in. It's better for me so far and really hydrating.
I love your videos so much! I get excited when you post lol. Quick question, do you ever plan to flat iron your hair? I'd love to see it straight. No matter what it's beautiful the way it is!
+VaBrielle Thompson aww thank you so much!! ❤ I don't flat iron my hair anymore because I don't want to risk any heat damage again but I plan on doing a video where I show how I straighten my hair without direct heat so you have get by damage free 😊
+Tasheena Hopkins welcome!! 😊 Heat is not required for deep conditioning. What the heat does is helps open up the pores of your hair shaft so it can better absorb the nutrients from the product but if you follow the instructions on the deep conditioner of your choice or DIY hair mask, 30 minutes with a shower cap on is usually enough time to keep your mask on without heat.
I usually do the eyes first and pick a lip color that compliments it!! My go to’s are mauve purples, nudes, and deep reds! They do so well with almost any look! 🙌🏽💖
Omgyyy! Nudes and mauves are my ultimate favorites! 😄 ok so can you name a couple reds because I don’t like bright hoochie reds because they look terrible on me but I’ve been trying forever to find a berry type color red like something like how you said a deep red. . Those are sexy shades to me.
Hi Amina, your one of my hair inspirations! I am at the 6 month mark in my natural hair journey! Lately, I have noticed that I have static fly aways at the middle of my crown area, I don't know if it's breakage or what? D: Do you or anybody else have any suggestions as to what I should do? I would highly appreciate it! :D
+Natasha Murray that same part of my hair (and many others) is the driest and least naturally defined sections so make sure you pay extra attention to it as it continues to grow out and use a generous amount of Leave-in and a little oil to seal in the moisture. It will start to cooperate as it continues to grow but sometimes you just have to add more cream styler and/or gel to that particular section to get it on board with the rest of your curls 😊
+Sydney Lightle I like their products! Not all of their lines are for my hair type but I've been loving their Almond Milk line and will review their pracaxi line soon!
+Amira Aladetan thank you so much! Rest assured that you're not alone in that question and challenge so let me tag you in the advice I've given about that 😊
I'm a minor and I don't really have the ability/money to go out and buy a lot of the products you suggested, especially on a consistent basis. I still really want to fully transition to natural hair. Any advice?
+saleehia hoye good news is you don't have to buy anything on a consistent basis! All of these products lasted me over a year so if you're able to save $15-20 that will get the job done for a cream styler, gel, shampoo and conditioner and hold you over for a long time! Conditioner can be used as a deep conditioner as well if you just leave it on your hair for 30 minutes to an hour with a shower cap on 😊
What hair type are you??? It seems like we have similar hair textures and I'm transitioning so I wanted to make sure I got the right products for my hair type
+morgan hiya how short did you cut your hair? It will typically be between 3-5 months of a healthy hair routine that you really start seeing your results! I wish it were instant but don't get discouraged!
love your channel.... its awesome..... just need you to help me recommend a product for my 4c hair..... i just started transitioning....... i realy hope and pray your able to reply..... thank.... xoxo
+Lee Arnoux it's all up to you as to what makes you feel comfortable. If you want a fresh start and want to rock short hair, go for it! If you want to transition, start with trimming
+K Bella just continue not to use heat as it grows out. The wavy side is most likely the most damaged (where you applied the most heat) but you won't start seeing noticeable changes until about 3-4 months so just be patient and keep giving your hair the TLC it needs ❤️
Amina Marie okay . So after I wash my hair and deep condition ... I detangle and. mosturize it with a leave in conditioner. Oil and curl cream... then put my hair in twists and basically leave it like that until I wash my hair again ..... so Do you think that’s a good transitioning routine?
That sounds like a good routine and then you can take out when your twists dry. I break down creating a good transitioning hair routine in Tip #5 of my new Transitioning video that just went up, hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/pdp8FhFa198/видео.html
+Cynthia Linder I do use a blow dryer but only on the cool and warm setting. Check out my Low Shrinkage Wash & Go video to see how I use it without any heat damage 😊
Ok got it! Air drying is mostly what I do. However I have been growing my relaxer out for a year and a half and I have used a blow dryer maybe five times during that year and a half. From now on no more of that. Thanks for your reply!
Hello , I just decided that I wanted to go natural a couple of days ago and I did watch your video but I'm still a little confused. While transitioning I know you said to stay away from heat which I have been doing. So is the next step like finding products and just washing my hair once a week to start helping the curl pattern start to grow in if that makes any sense. Please help ☹️
I suggest only washing your hair every other month, in order to get your hair "dirty" when its dirty it allows your hair to use natural oils to help your natural curls grow out. Trim your hair regularly, especially since it will be dry and may break a lot since its so used to being relaxed or permed. I would try to find leave in conditioners, shampoos, conditioners, creams, and oils with natural ingredients to help with growing out ur natural hair. wash n go's should be a weekly thing and deep conditioner is a must to growing hair healthier and cutting down on breakage. I hope that helped :)
love your channel.... its awesome..... just need you to help me recommend a product for my 4c hair..... i just started transitioning....... i realy hope and pray your able to reply..... thank.... xoxo

You have inspired me to do the 1 year no heat. I am 3 months in, and I love it!!
+itsJustKay yay!!!
Amina Marie can I roller wrap my hair? Or no heat at all
+itsJustKay Rollers are great, it's really just direct heat like flat irons, curling irons/wands and high heat dryers that will cause heat damage.
Your hair looks great here girl!
+Kellie Griffin thanks girl!! Sneak peek of my results from the Jane Carter new Curls To Go line - video will be up on Monday! 💕

+Sarah Smith yesss I love it!! 😍😘
Super inspirational! Been thinking about transitioning for a few. You just pushed me a bit more to be natural!
Great and VERY helpful video! I am just beginning my transition but will be watching all of your videos and subscribing! THANK YOU!
Can you make a video on how to repair heat damaged hair??

Would you recommend braids to help transition? Like box braids or micros?
Love your video... I'm planning on going natural
I want to transition. I haven't had a relaxer in a month, but its been flat ironed and now its in a pinup. I plan on starting this weekend, but I don't know how to start.

Amina Marie I love Curls Creme Brulee and I've been wanting to try the twist and shout blueberry cream.
Amina Marie thxs for the info I'm at four months any tips
Marcaya J the only
The smell is too much for me. I like the JBCO shampoo, but I got sick of the (leave-in conditioner) smell also. So I got Design Essential's hydrating leave in. It's better for me so far and really hydrating.
Thank you so much your video helped me a lot
I do light trims on my hair 😩 dont wanna big chop.
This video helped so much thank you❤️

Lauretta foster no problem! Flexi rod and Bantu knots coming up
That's great! I can't wait 😆
inspiring ad informative, thx!
Hi I'm new to your channel. I was wondering when you deep condition if you don't put heat will it not work properly?
+Tasheena Hopkins welcome!! 😊 Heat is not required for deep conditioning. hey girl! Love your videos. Where can i purchase the "Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap
"?
+Kerry Berry thanks love! If you go to Etsy you can find the cap by typing in Thermal Hair Care Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap 😊
Thanks Amina btw what brand lippies do you wear?
+Kerry Berry Colourpop all the way!
oh i figured ;) thank you :* you wear them so well.
How do you get your eye makeup to match your lipstick? And I didn’t know Trader Joe’s sold hair products thanks for the tip 😀

+Sydney Lightle I like their products! Not all of their lines are for my hair type but I've been loving their Almond Milk line and will review their pracaxi line soon!
love your videos 😍😍
Thank you!
Oh yea & can you please tell me where did you get your denman brush from ?
+Tyisha McFarland if you go to a local beauty supply store they have the knock off ones for much cheaper than beauty chains like Sally's.
okay thanks..
Great information
Your so gorgeous!! Do you have any tips on getting your parents to let you transition back to natural?
+Amira Aladetan thank you so much! Rest assured that you're not alone in that question and challenge so let me tag you in the advice I've given about that 😊
how long did you transition before you big chopped?
I just started do i use ist ingredients?
I'm a minor and I don't really have the ability/money to go out and buy a lot of the products you suggested, especially on a consistent basis. I still really want to fully transition to natural hair. Any advice?

+Katrina Barber hair twins! 💕
That was a great analogy for the hair relationship! lmao
+Briana Gabrielle 😂 it's so true! We battled in the beginning lol
love your channel.... its awesome..... just need you to help me recommend a product for my 4c hair..... i just started transitioning....... i realy hope and pray your able to reply..... thank.... xoxo
I love heavy oils in my hair but my scalp itches like crazy.
What type of hair do you have?
Can I just pay you to do a style in my hair? Cause I am not a stylist at art 🙃
Hey big sis, I see that your channel is doing well. Dad bro's mum and me miss you 😘
+Anna Kamandu thank you love! Miss you even more!! 💕 Can't believe it's already your birthday week! 🤗😘
What if your hair is damaged should I do a big chop or???
+Lee Arnoux it's all up to you as to what makes you feel comfortable. If you want a fresh start and want to rock short hair, go for it! If you want to transition, start with trimming
Hey Amina Marie. I've been transitioning for a month now and one side is curly and the other side is wavy what should i do please help thanks you.
+K Bella just continue not to use heat as it grows out. The wavy side is most likely the most damaged (where you applied the most heat) but you won't start seeing noticeable changes until about 3-4 months so just be patient and keep giving your hair the TLC it needs ❤️
+K Bella and also begin trimming your hair to start letting the damaged ends go!
thank you so much for your help. also can you please make more videos on transitioning hair styles.
How often should you do the transitioning process ?
Hopefully you only have to transition once! It’s more of a lifestyle to change your hair back to its healthier natural state.
Amina Marie okay . So after I wash my hair and deep condition ... I detangle and. mosturize it with a leave in conditioner. Oil and curl cream... then put my hair in twists and basically leave it like that until I wash my hair again ..... so
Do you think that’s a good transitioning routine?
That sounds like a good routine and then you can take out when your twists dry. I break down creating a good transitioning hair routine in Tip #5 of my new Transitioning video that just went up, hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/pdp8FhFa198/видео.html
When you say don't use any heat do you mean don't use a blow dryer with deep conditioning?
+Cynthia Linder I do use a blow dryer but only on the cool and warm setting. Check out my Low Shrinkage Wash & Go video to see how I use it without any heat damage 😊
Ok got it! Air drying is mostly what I do. However I have been growing my relaxer out for a year and a half and I have used a blow dryer maybe five times during that year and a half. From now on no more of that. Thanks for your reply!
Thank you!!

I have one question why does my hair always tangle up after I wash it
this may be wayyyy late but maybe because you didn't detangle it BEFORE washing your hair
what is your curl pattern

How long it takes to transitioning back to natural hair

I think you should lower your camera a little more so we can really do those hand movements 😉
So the denmen brush went from $5 to $20 in a matter of 4 years smh
i thought this was a transition for musical.ly
