What’s the sense in having the SAME guy run against someone he already lost to once and went on to complain about it to this day? It’s asking for Biden 2024 without actually saying it. Plus, Trump is EVEN MORE controversial now more than ever and thinking he genuinely has a chance at this point is futile. There are better options now and it’s starting to feel more and more cult like with how people support him no matter what.

These political analysts don't like Vivek, but they are underestimating how far he will go. No one else in either party has spent as much time learning the issues and formulating a direction, and then articulately and fearlessly elaborating on that vision as Vivek
They way Trump surprisingly won in 2016 Vivek will win a magnitude greater. He supports policies Trump wanted to impose but has the back bone and wit to follow through.

In order to participate in Republican debates you are required to support whoever does win or you would be kicked from future debates unless I’m mistaken.

It would have been more interesting to have a focus group that was not just voters who wanted and still want Trump. They're not going to change their minds, and any backup choice would be trumpesque. I would be interested to know what some voters who had more varied initial stance thought and gained from that.

From most of the audience acting like they were at a Trump rally to Pence asking the debaters if he had upheld the Constitution on Jan 6, only to then agree that he would support Trump as presidential candidate even if convicted--today's Republican party in a nutshell.

These debates won't really show how brilliant Vivek Ramaswamy is. Watch one of his longer form interviews and you'll see why Vivek is surging in the polls. He would crush Trump on a head to head debate & if Vivek gets the nomination there is no way Dems will allow Biden to debate Vivek. It would be like Mike Tyson vs. Urkel in a boxing match.

Just a thought: Since a pledge to support whomever the eventual Republican candidate is was required in order to be on the debate stage (ridiculous!), didn’t all of them technically have to raise their hands to the question about Trump in order to continue to be included in these debates (regardless of what they really intend to do)? The half-assed hand raising of Christy and Pence looked bad, but perhaps the hesitancy was them weighing their options in order to be able to participate in future debates. (Christy’s already made it clear that he’ll say whatever it takes to stay in the debates). Given this clown show, it seems like it was just a “gotcha” question that didn’t really provide any real new info.
This is my favorite take on that question. You make a lot of solid points and add unique insight. Some of them were weighing the options which can sometimes be the prudent thing to do as President. Presidents shouldn't always charge head first into a decision without advisory. Bill Clinton and George W. Bush once were on stage together and when the topic came up agreed with seeking council and caution as a virtue.

I’m not suggesting they shouldn’t have taken a stand, just offering one way to interpret their behavior beyond assuming that it means that they will back Trump even if he is indicted, or that they were just reading the room before responding (they were both already well aware of where a good portion of that room stood on the issue). As for Hutchinson, let’s see what happens to him.

When people are asked to deliver their opinion, don’t be surprised when they sound opinionated. Opinion is basically bias, almost by definition. As for reporting bias, was there something important they failed to report? Was there something irrelevant or incorrect that was reported? Since this was coverage of the first Republican debate, which occurred publicly, there wasn’t really much to report. It basically is a synopsis of quotes from the debate stage-what else would you expect?
