Lolol Donaghy - Thank you for helping us all. My first thought when this all started really getting bad was, "Am I going to be able to get my medicine? What if I run out? Should I try to save it, and take as small dose as possible that might not be effective just to make it last out?" I need my medicine and I was terrified pharmacies would shut down. And I'm sure I may not be as in-need as some people (I guess stopping probably wouldn't kill me outright immediately) so I am lucky.
But seeing all the brave pharmacists staying it through makes me so grateful and believe that I will be ok. I depend on you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. In my eyes, you are like my own pharmacist and that makes you a hero to me. We'll all get through this and be ok, I believe that. But thank you for carrying us through to better times. Thank you.

Thank you for that, I'm currently trying to push for my right as a neurodiverse person to get the same quality of education as everyone else
They're struggling to understand my conditions, are using ableist language, and aren't listening to me on what I need but instead are asking my mother
Sometimes the fight doesnt seem worth it because of the backlash it recieves and the energy it takes, but this inspired me to keep advocating for better understanding of neurodiversity

I wish you so much luck in your fight. I am in the process of getting my secondary education license and looking at ways that I can try to make school better for everyone, especially incorporating the amazing contributions neurodiversity brings. It's so hard with the current system though (I am quite frustrated with bureaucracy at the moment) and I applaud the contribution you are making to your community and for neurodiverse people who will come to school after you. Good Luck!!

Loved this! Thanks for drawing attention to some amazing women. I appreciated how you also brought light to the fact that this was still a work in progress at the time, and that not all suffragettes necessarily wanted the vote for all women. Also, it has always irked me when media refer to individuals who have made significant contributions to society, simultaneously mentioning any disabilities that they experience. It totally detracts from the amazing work they've done and focuses attention on a situation that is irrelevant to their work. It seems belittling, and shifts public perception of them to pity rather than the pride they deserve.

Thank you again Jessica for such a great video. I love the historical profiles, I learn new things and I'm reminded of things I already knew. and hope to see more of them - but only if you're still inspired! This is a very important form of activism because many people think that the number of people with chronic illnesses and disabilities has grown more than it should because "when they were young they only knew one person with diabetes and certainly no one in a wheelchair".
times have changed and people who were able-passing are open about their struggles, and people with more severe conditions who would be locked up in institutions or sent to boarding school are now classmates with able-bodied people. Keep up the excellent work.

I'd love to see one of these about Renoir. He had (and I have) RA and worked till his death. It sometimes makes me feel bad because I've been unable to paint for 3 years but I remind myself that he had an assistant to do practically everything for him and I do not lol. Also he probably had some killer pain meds.

This is very random, but everytime you say, WSPU, and the graphic comes up, I just see SPU, which sounds like spew, which reminds me of SPEW the welfare movement Hermione puts together for the house elves in Harry Potter.. I have no idea if there is any connection there, but I thought it was amusing. 😂😅

Being a pacifist but admiring a suffragette in a wheelchair charging policemen with crutches is such a strange position to be in! She sounds fabulous. Thank you for bringing her to our attention Jessica!

It’s always difficult for me to celebrate the early women’s rights movement when Black people as a whole didn’t get the right to vote until the 1960s in America. Both of my parents literally predate the African American right to vote. The women’s rights movement did nothing for Black Women.

@christina grubs- Black men were NOT allowed to vote. What was on paper was not allowed in actuality. I see you must not live in the US or if you do, then you probably missed ALL of the lessons on the whole Civil Rights movement. Martin Luther King was murdered because one of the things he was peacefully fighting for was the right for African Americans to be able to vote. Educate yourself on our on history before you presume to know it.

@@christinagrubbs4830 then you are either woefully ignorant of the Civil Rights Movement or you are deliberately ignorant of it. There is no in between, and there is no excuse.

That reminds me of Ende Gelände. It's a German anti coal protest group, which is organized in sub units, called fingers, during actions. Each finger has a color, and since last year they also have a 'colorful finger' for people with disabilities, kids, broken legs, and anything else which keeps them from joining one of the other fingers. It's pretty awesome and also effective.

I'm at risk but also in work as an essential service. I love my work for being very conscious of our needs (hazard pay and mandatory 6 foot social distancing).
I'm very excited for this person's story though! Love inspirational people that also happen to be disabled.
