Hi Christen. My favorite show to binge on is the original "NCIS" on Netflix. I start with Season 1 and just let the episodes run back to back while I'm cutting and piecing. I don't have to watch it, I just listen to it on my headphones. Thanks for the great idea using jelly rolls. I never thought to use one for a log cabin design. Many Thanks! ~~ Lynne
Same! I’m a huge Mark Harmon fan. I’m currently on season 7, probably for at least the 4th time!😂. I turn it on and just let it run for background noise.
I’m freaking out with that drink close to your machine. After drowning a laptop once, I keep my drink on the floor or a separate table so I don’t accidentally spill, lol. Really pretty quilt! You’re right, we collect those jelly rolls because they are so pretty and then just look at them. I prefer to sew in quiet. I know, weird. If I do have the TV on, it’s usually some Lifetime movie where I don’t have to pay attention because all the plots are the same 😂🤣😂
Great tutorial! I have 41 jelly rolls and really need to use them! ALSO… you need chopsticks so you can snack on that bowl of orange yummies without getting it on your fingers/fabrics. That’s what I do and it works great! I mean, what’s the alternative? Orange stains? NO WAY! No snacking?! PUH-LEEEZ! 😂❤
That’s a good suggestion although if im going to snack then i clean my hands In between. I find that once I get my groove I don’t want to mess it up. Quilting forever food whenever!!
Great work I enjoy watching your videos 😊 I have a lil tip for you 😊 when you have your peils of fabric cut and ready, take from the 2nd pile 7" 2 strips of fabric and put them to the bottom of the pile, that should mix them well, the next pile take 3 strips and put them to the bottom, then carry on until you have done them all 😊🎉🎉🎉
Hi Christen! Ok , great instructions and easy to follow. I have a request though. Every step can you show us how the block is supposed to be? It would make it so much easier if that’s something that could be included. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Just made my first log cabin the "normal" way and loved how quickly it worked up. Love your idea. Love your cute personality. Chain piecing is the bomb
I have a huge 2.5 “ bin of strips from left over charity quilts. I got so excited that I got up early just to sort them out after I watched your video. 🤣💕🦋
Your nails are so feminine and lovely. Looks so nice in your tutorial. Love using jelly rolls that I have accumulated. Love to binge watch BritBox so entertaining, especially Agatha Christie mysteries
Its been a while since I binged I love Lucy! Thats a great one. I also really liked Bewitched and I Dream Of Genie too! I've seen them all so many times!
I’ve been wanting to make a log cabin quilt for a while now but been intimidated by the whole process of sewing the right strip to the right side while making a whole block at once but your strip piecing method makes sense to my brain to simplify it. Thank you for sharing your creativity
I have followed Vurgin River and Heartland - and and an involved in the characters. That's when I do any hand work so I don't have to concentrate on the needle of the machine.
I am not good enough yet at quilting to take my eyes off of what I am doing. So, I listen to a lot of different music including The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac on my black Porsche speaker. Yes, I’m old (64), but I enjoy your channel so much!!!
Yes! After watching 6000 videos, I chose to use this pattern for my 3rd quilt. This time, I'm not even afraid to go cut up some fabric. Thank you so much!
From years of using Kansas Troubles jelly rolls for various quilts, I have 1 million strips left over. Yes, that is the accurate exact correct count. This is a perfect project to use up a few of those. We’ll see how it goes. 😊 Thanks for another great tutorial!
I prefer to focus on my sewing - even when chain piecing. I find it so enjoyable and relaxing. I would be distracted by having a video streaming in front of me. It would take my concentration away from the quilt. What I do enjoy is having my favorite classical radio station to listen to. To each her own, eh? lol
We finished the Walking Dead earlier today. Hard to watch a show with 11 seasons with a group. Sometimes there are long waits. I tend to watch things I am familiar with while I am sewing. Gilmore Girls is my go to. I really like to put on some of our family road trip playlists and just sing, laugh and dance. Remember some trip highlights. I am actually making a raw edges version of this block at the moment. I work no more than 2 hours at a time and most of the clear everything away until the next time. I don’t have a dedicated sewing room or even one space where all of my things are stored. I’m working on 5 different twin quilts. They all have the same center and each has one thing unique to the person they belong to. They also all have a variety of scrap strips that they share. All the same, but all different. Quilts, quilters, families, friends, all of the people.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting aren’t we all. I was so focused on answering your questions that I neglected to tell you that I enjoy watching your videos and I love the way you interject humor into them. We all need more humor. Comfort and joy are what we strive for and unless humor falls under one of those then it needs to be added. Thank you for responding to my ramble earlier. It’s another thing I admire about you.
I love that Jungle Paradise fabric line! I used the green frogs on green in my first quilt, and am hoarding the leftovers! 🙃 Thanks for the great tutorial!
I love the Jungle Paradise fabric. When it first debuted, I bought so much. Too adorable. I made two quilts from it and still have sew much left. Now that I see your log cabin block, that's where my next Jungle Paradise fabric will go. The first JP quilt I made was the Stomping Ground pattern by Wendy Sheppard from a layer cake. The second was Simple Simon (A free download with Jordan Fabrics) from a jelly roll. Thank you for your inspiration! I love your blocks! 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
Great video! How did you know me so well. I also hate having to take the jelly roll apart and use it. I love how you used your jelly roll into a log cabin quilt top!! Thank you!!
Hi I’m new to you videos and you make it so simple, I have my audio books playing when do quilting that way I listen and don’t have to look up. I like bright colours, and like the ones you have chosen, I screen shot the measurements you gave, that way I don’t loose bits of paper. Thank you watching from Perth, Australia
I love Monk, Murdoch Mysteries, and anything musical. I listen to music and books also, currently I'm into the Mrs. Pollifax series. Love your videos, you always make me smile. 😊
After watching this video I went to my fabrics and made the squares. I did not use a jelly roll but some of the fabrics I had on hand. I did make each square exactly the same and put strips in between each row. The top went together very quickly and I am in the process of doing a simple quilting. I love it! Thank You for the design of the modern Log Cabin.🪡
I'm doing this one! PS; I love 'The Music Man', West Side Story' and 'My Fair Lady ' most of all, and I HAVE to sing along! Wishing you lots of joy 💜💚💙 Abigail in beautiful New Hampshire
This is super cute 🥰 your tips really help to make it seem not scary to tackle. Thank u 😊 As for TV, I try to binge watch movies or TV series, my favs are CSI, Law & Order, Criminal Minds. But, I try to watch the ones I’ve seen a lot so I’m not sucked into watching them again and get distracted from quilting 😅😂. Love ❤️ your channel.
I love this pattern. I have the perfect jellyroll for it. I've been holding on to it for 6 or 7 years. Your videos are so informative and easy to follow. Thank you. I love to binge watch My Cat from Hell ( I'm a big cat 🐈🐈 lover😊). I did that yesterday on animal planet. ❤❤take care. Looking forward to seeing what you come up next.😊
So I have in my quilting room, a Jelly Roll, that I purchased way back in 2018...It is Moda Basic Grey "Black Tie"... it is still in its package; I haven't been able to open it yet as I am scared! Lol! I was considering Jenny Doan's version of the "3 Dudes" pattern with it, as I have used that pattern and I like it... BUT now I see your video and the pattern you are using and am now thinking, THIS is the pattern that I deem worthy to open my precious (... my preeeeeeecious......) Jelly Roll for...!
First time watching your channel. Have been wanting to try a log cabin but had not thought about using a jelly roll. I gave a large collection of 5” squares so I think I may give this a try. Thanks for the tutorial.👏👏👏
Love this pattern for using up those jelly rolls I’ve been hoarding up, waiting for that “perfect” project to come along! 🫣 I will have to tackle this soon! ❤️
Making my first quilt using 2/12 in squares...not sure exactly how it will turn out, but I also like watching all of the "Chicago" series....Fire, PD and Med.
Loved your tutorial, and what a fun jelly roll. I will eventually make this log cabin variation, and the medallion fabric center is beautiful! I unfortunately do not have a tv where I sew, it’s on my wish list, so it’s music for me. But when I do binge watch TV it’s been Bones, or CSI type shows. Having said that, my son was home over winter break and we binged watched all the Ted Lasso series that are on Apple TV. It was fun to sit and watch with him. ❤
Dear Lord Sister, when a Jelly Roll is calling my name, I have to buy at LEAST 2 of the same kinds so if I use one I still have the other one PLUS THE SCRAPS FROM THE FIRST ONE! It’s ALSO THE SAME FOR CHARM PACKS! I’m almost done with finishing my sewing room so when I do I will post a couple pictures in our group! 🎉 I love this easy block and I can’t wait to make a quilt top out of it! 🎉❤🎉 I listen to music while I’m sewing my pieces together and I’m excited to get started again! 🥳❤️

How many jelly rolls were used for this quilt . Thankyou
NCIS for sure!,,,
I love to listen to audiobooks. no temptation to stop and look at a screen. Thanks for the tutorial.

Yes, it's time we use that pretty material and display it. :) LOL yes those lifetime movies all seem to be the same, but still so good.
You're not alone. I prefer quiet also. No music, no TV.
I wear my earbuds and listen to audiobooks and sew. I love it.

Yes, I buy Jelly rolls and charms because I love the colors but it has to be a very special project to use them on. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
YES & YES!
I am now binging on " Bones" series
I have binge watched Downton Abbey and a few others, but now my favourite is to listen to audiobooks while sewing.
I loved Downtown Abbey, I didn’t know it’s available in audio version. Thank you for mentioning it.
I just finished binge watching the "old" Magnum P.I., now I have to find something new! LOVE this quilt!
