- Follow me on a short but busy VFR flight from Danbury to JFK Kennedy airport. ATC is recorded and procedures in the cockpit explained, Your comments and suggestions are very welcome. New York ATC is extremely professional and efficient!
Enjoy!
Guido, that was like watching a surgeon flawlessly performing a heart transplant in 5 min! Your professional approach and management in the cockpit was amazing, sterile and a joy to watch!
Thank you Greg.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Really enjoyed this. I am not a pilot, but I love watching pilots do their work. I very much enjoyed the view into the cockpit, listening to your comm with ATC, your working through the checklist, and very much appreciating your showing the forward camera angle on the last few seconds of approach and touchdown. Thanks for posting this.
These videos are fantastic! I appreciate that you label all the actions, it really helps understanding how piloting works.
Thank you very much, Michael!
Happy Landings,
Guido
I flew a B100 for 2 years of wonderful experiences. Not a lot of them around. I've only flown in and out JFK in the simulator, but thanks for the memories. Great job in a great airplane.
I google ATC at Miami and JFK all the time and I am amazed at the speed of communication. I don't know how you guys keep up. Thanks for the videos.
John
I have flown sense the age of eight. I was flying a R22 at 10 and fix wing also. Was in the military also. I live in NY but fly Bell430UTs in Florida. Always loved how complex helis are and have built a few with friends as well as home built projects.I also fly model helis and model jets. Always reading and flying that's all I do. I am a total nut about aviation. Its in me. I feel so at home in the cockpit if I didn't fly I would be truly lost. A true addition and passion. Thanks for the videos!
Thank you very much, Rodolfo!
And thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
I'm a pilot flying out of FRG and one of my favorite rides to give first timers is the NYC Skyline tour. Many of my friends like to fly below the Bravo on the south shore but I love talking to NY ATC. You're so right, they are very professional as you noted. You are as well. Dieses video gefällt mir sehr. Bis zum nächsten mal, tschuß.
beautiful video!!! i love all the captions and annotations you did when editing it, really gives the viewers an idea of what all is going on inside the cockpit.
Guido, Thank you for taking the time to produce these videos. They are very enjoyable and the audio and text notes make it extra valuable to student pilots and enthusiasts such as myself. I am looking forward to more of your videos.
Great flight as usual! I see why you chose to fly VFR on such a short flight rather than file an IFR Flight Plan. Not necessary for such a short flight. ATC in the NY Area is one of the busiest air spaces around which is why they are on top of their game. Extremely professional and courteous! The flight was flown to perfection as I would expect!
Hi James,
thank you for your comment. On a clear day you can fly VFR into JFK. However you are handling's;ed like IFR traffic and have to expect delays.
Whenever possible I tryout to avoid LGA, JFK and EWR.
Happy Landings,
Guido
WOW - thank you very much, Joe.
And thanks for watching my videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
You manage single pilot operations in such a busy airspace supremely well. Wonderful video, thank you.
Thank you very much Paul.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Wow, great video. Love the camera angle, editing, explanatory titles and the great weather, busy, concise ATC and smooth landing.
Wow! I am 55 y.o. and got my license this year after a 36 year wait! I envy you! Nice videos. I watch them all.
Thank you very much Diogo -and thanks for watching my videos.
Happy landings and greetings to Brazil,
Guido
Nice video, nice cockpit procedure and proper checklist usage is always a good thing. Hope your wife enjoyed the trip too. Keep making these videos Guido!
That's a really nice video. I liked the captions whenever you made changes and I liked how we could hear the ATC communications. The operations that take place in the cockpit are very fluid.
This is seriously one of the coolest aviation videos I've ever seen. Great stuff!
Only my pleasure, Mitch. Thanks for watching my videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Hey Guido, your piloting skills are the most professional that i have ever seen! especially the way you do callouts and procedures! your a great inspiration for my flying. Thankyou and keep up the great flying and videos!
Thank you very much, Neil!
New videos are already in the works.
Happy Landings,
Guido
I work for an aircraft management company, we fly small jets and turboprops.
ATC sounds very confusing at the beginning, but there are a lot of standardized phrases that make it easy to understand, especially for non native English speakers.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Timely upload, Guido! I'm glad to see you did it VFR! This is something many of your viewers don't see every day.
I'm tentatively planning a flight into JFK and LGA in a Cirrus this summer from Long Island. Being a hindrance to the flow in a "six-banger" shouldn't be a problem... as long as I keep my speed up.
Awesome video!
Awesome video. I lived under the Danbury approach for a few years. Now I live in Long Beach, NY under the final approach to JFK's 31L. I'm a true aviation buff so this video was a treat especially with this route. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much Randy. Don't get scared of the big airports, just fly in there.
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
Guido
It made a huge difference to the cockpit that was installed before.
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Wow, you just made single-pilot, complex aircraft, into Kennedy look easy. Great flying and excellent videos.
I really enjoy watching your video. It is the next best thing to being in the cockpit for us arm chair flyers. Keep'em coming.
Thank you very much!
And thanks for watching my videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you John, much appreciated.
More videos to come.
Thanks for watching them.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks to you!
I had the great pleasure to fly to your country in 1980 in a Cessna 182 to Algiers and to Ghardaia.
Happy Landings,
Guido
I'm from the Danbury area and used to fly at KDXR, now i'm a student at Embry Riddle and upon graduation hope to further my carrer as a pilot. I enjoy watching your videos very much, keep them coming.
Regards,
Doug
Hi Doug,
all the best for your flying career. I visited ER last year and was quite impressed.
Happy Landings,
Guido
You are right, Peter.
A lot of pilots are just hesitant to fly into busy airspace because they have never been exposed to it in training.
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
Guido
Thats great! I did all my training in NY (kfrg) so i was lucky to have been exposed to NY's busy air traffic at an early age. These videos are fantastic Guido. Keep them coming.
Thank you!
It really helps to train in busy airspace from the very beginning.
Happy Landings,
Guido
You are very welcome, Herland.
And thank you very much for watching my videos. More to come.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Non pilot, I flew into Orlando in a Piper Navajo with a friend and remember tower telling us to keep speed up and exit runway as soon as feasible. Looked back and saw a commercial go by as soon as our tail was off the runway. LOL! Great video!
Very nice, thanks for posting. Being a new pilot and wanting to eventually fly the King Air it is great to hear the comms with ATC.
Great videos! The cockpit views are the best . Keep them coming they area joy to watch.
Good video, like the extra info etc., nice touch.
Reminds me of my flying days in Dallas back when we had TCAs. No better place to learn flying than in a busy place !
Guido I must say since I found your channel I have enjoyed your many videos. I'm a student pilot 10 hours in just about to start my solos and if only I can be half as proficient in my comms as you are I'd feel so much better, I know that comes with time but just hearing it always amazes me.
cheers from Miami
Thank you for making your videos in such great detail! I love logging on to see you have uploaded a new video! Keep up the great work,
-
Matthew
Hi Guido,
I love watching your video's, they are so informative.
Thank you so much.
Mitch
Thank you!
I used to be based at KDXR, but started a new job recently.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Mike, you are 100% correct on that.
The 600/750 is a good combination. Some information is duplicated, but this is good, when flying multi-crew. So the info is in view of the right seat pilot too.
The touch screen is ok, in turbulence not so easy to use.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Very nice. I love the busy ATC sound feed you provided. I must start to do that on my videos too.
Go for it! It is easier than you think.
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
Guido
You are very welcome. I am glad you liked it.
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
Guido
As you said, one of the most busy airspaces in the world. Nicely done!
Thanks for sharing. ;)
Alles gute beim Fliegen!
Hi Terry, in the USA "Conditional" landing clearances are quite common, e.g. behind landing traffic line up and wait or you are cleared to land as number two, or cleared to land, traffic holding in position. Landing clearance can be cancelled anytime though. I think they do this to manage the massive amount of traffic at some airports. ATC is really great here!
Happy Landings,
Guido
Yeah, quite a treat....
Thanks for watching my videos & Happy Landings,
Guido
Lovely, steady approach, and an excellent landing to top it off! Also great work with the coms! I'll be checking out your other vids for definite!
Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoyed the video.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks Zach! I appreciate your comments from the "ATC" point of view.
We have traffic alert on board, but you are right - eyes (and common sense) are very good tools.
There is very little traffic at Bar Harbor, ME and I listened into the frequency 20NM out. Nobody there.
Luckily I had no critical situation with traffic so far. Touch wood.
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,'
Guido
Thank you very much, Rich!
More videos are in the works. It is quite time consuming, so please be patient.
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
Thank you Todd. This is the first time I hear all this directly from an "ATC" man.
Unfortunately pilots and AYC do not know each other well and there are some misunderstandings,
Happy Landings & thanks again!
Guido
Thank you. I would call NY TRACON and ask what a good time is to land at JFK to stay out of the peak time. I am not sure if they allow touch and go's. Always worth a try!
Fly safe & happy landings,
Guido
Takes a lot of courage to fly into and out of JFK single pilot. I've flown freight dog into Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson and that's with two pilots in a Cessna 414. That was enough busy-body for me. Love your video Guido!
Thank you!
Same here: I like to fly jets, but I would miss the King Airs badly if I would not fly them anymore. Great aircraft.
Happy Landings,
Guido
That is great news. Not many B100 pilots around.
Thanks for watching my videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks!
My wife typically sleeps 99.9% of the flying time.
Happy Landings,
Guido
You are right, Justin!
Good radio communication is very important. It is often not taught very good during flight training.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thank you very much. JFK is quite busy - but they have excellent controllers who work well with the pilots.
Thanks for watching my videos - more are in the works.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks for the reply and i wish you the best of luck in your new job!
You are absolutely right! Any change in rpm or any change in airspeed has an immediate effect on temperatures. Great engines, but require some care and attention by the pilot.
Thanks for watching my videos & Happy Landings,
Guido
I'm a pilot in Brazil, like a lot of your videos, I am your number 1 fan
It's a busy and demanding airspace but the views are spectacular.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Respekt Guido!!!
Grüße aus good old Germany.
Giso
Vielen Dank Giso!
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido
Another great video Guido! Really appreciate the annotated overlays. Keep them coming and stay safe up there :)
Another great video Guido. Glad you made that call out on your wife sitting in the right seat, I thought as soon as I saw there that must be the case! Really enjoying your videos.
That sounds like a great idea!
It is completely normal that pilots speak and think all the time about aviation...
Happy Landings,
Guido
Fantastic video Guido, was very impressed by your cockpit professionalism.
That was absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
Thanks. Single pilot flying is a bit more challenging but with a well organized cockpit and good preparation no problem ans safe. Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
Guido
Nice job on the comms. I've found many pilots don't quite know what to say when faced with Class B high density traffic. I've never flown into JFK, but I've been in the Seattle Class B, and that was pretty busy, especially for a 172. Just have to remember to keep the time on frequency short and concise!
Thanks for watching my videos, Scott.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Beautiful flying! Much more workload than the flights on MD-11 I`ve experienced as 1st officer at VASP on years 1990s. I wished I could bring my wife to cockpit at that times, also. Another guy from Brazil!
Thank you - muito obrigado!
The B100 is an old aricraft and it is single pilot flying....
Greetings to Brazil & happy landings,
Guido
Absolutely superb landing and good handling of the clearances Guido. First video I've seen from yours and I am impressed and subscribed now. Thanks for posting!
@@GuidoWarnecke Like the look of your new website. Thanks.
Its awesome that you get to fly it regardless, if you own it or not. In fact, you get to enjoy the flight without the annoying fees for the hanger.. Great flying and nice plane :)
Very impressive cooperation between the two pilots .
Great video!! Thanks for posting it. Very well done too. Flying VFR into JFK is something few GA pilots would even attempt given the complexity of the airspace, volume of traffic, and of course the cost. Well done indeed. I look forward to more of your videos. :o)
Great videos Guido. The outside is ok, but the cockpit is the best. Great sound to. Thanks very much. :)
Thank you!
The battery of the GoPro cockpit camera quit just in final approach, so my wife took that shaky outside video with another camera.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks you very much - I am glad you like my videos.
More to come shortly,
Happy Landings,
Guido
Thanks Tom!
I appreciate that you like the the videos.
Happy Landings,
Guido
That is correct, Eric.
By certification, all King Airs - even the big King Air 1900 requires only one pilot.
Many operators, choose to use two pilots though.
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,
Guido
You very well deserve that JFK VFR in your flight log. Outstanding job. Congrats.
Nice video Guido. Glad I came across it. Busy in that cockpit.
Thank you!
Yes among the busy airports in the New York Metropolitan area, JFK is a REALLY busy one.
Happy Landings,
Guido
I am glad you like my videos.
Radio communication is an important part of flying. What might help is to buy one of this cheap receivers and listen to the radio frequencies of the big airports.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Guido I recently stumbled upon your vids and find them fascinating. Thank you and keep producing. I will subscribe.
david carpenter you are very welcome, David.
Thanks for subscribing.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Looks like the Garmin 750 and G600 are perefect for your airplane! Thanks for sharing your video!
Extremely impressive Guido! Nice work once again!
Great video. Really enjoyed it. Very instructive for a low time VFR pilot like me.
Great Video! PPL Student here, and the video was very helpful loved the annotations, I will subscribe :)
Thank you Greg!
I wish you all the best for you training. Have fun!
Happy Landings,
Guido
I am a pilot and have flown helis and airplanes. Guido I might be wrong just seems like a nice guy as well as a great pilot. Either way I enjoy his videos very much and just subscribed to his page. I am a addicted to aviation and love everything about flying, everything. Thank you for putting on great videos Guido!!!!
Thank you very much!
Don't feel scared about the big airports, go for it! Take an experienced pilot with you and try it. May be you can do just an overshoot or low pass without landing. I would call ATC and ask.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Ohhh you are a brave man! I have flown C206'es to drop jumpers but resisted all invitations to do it myself...
I will certainly check you channel.
Happy Landings,
Guido
Your video refutes a commonly held belief by many pilots that landing at NY airports is crazy difficult when VFR. I got my PPL at LGA when a flight school was there, and I was a teenager. The jet traffic today is about the same as when I flew and the radio work is about the same. I flew a Cherokee 140.
Often ATC would circle us nearby before slipping us in between the jets. Then we'd high tail it in. All fun for a kid. Warnecke is correct, anyone can fly into NYC. Fees are crazy today though.
Thx for your reply, it must have been so much funny flying to JFK VFR!!! I would have enjoyed a lot!! Happy landings to you too
You are absolutely right! VFR was to safe time and miles flown (shorter route).
Happy Landings,
Guido
