I battled with this problem for weeks!! I ordered tools to measure the spacing of all the parts, I was on a Facebook page and tried tons of things. I watched tons of RUclips videos, rethreaded and changed bobbins and threads. I was beyond frustrated. Then a wise FaceBook guy suggested I start from the basics - change thread and bobbins, clean out the bobbin area (had done all of those things) and oil it! As soon as I OILED the bobbin case the problem stopped!!!! I had fully cleaned and oiled everywhere metal moving over metal touched EXCEPT the bobbin area! Ta-Da!!!! 😂
I took the needle plate off a Singer 4423 to watch where the thread was going and the bobbin kept popping out. I found out from a RUclipsr, that the needle plate is part of what holds the bobbin in place
the burrs can be removed using a fine grit acrylic nail disposable type salon file...the white or pink with a light handed buff will remove the burrs/slight splintered feel..dollar store also sells the nail files.
These videos are awesome, thank you so much for posting! I have a machine similar to this that winds in the bobbin case. The thread, like yours, is going under the bobbin case and not actually winding. How do I get it to wind? Is there something I need to adjust as far as how it's screwed in or is it something else?
Most people do not realize there were 4 production "runs" of the # 600E machine. The one you are working on is a later "run" and plagued with more issues.. The needle bar has nylon bearings, the motor lost the top ball bearing ( replaced with a sleeve bearing ), the cam stack became plastic as well as the cam follower. Only the rare 1st run of these machines is decent ( basically the same as a # 600 )..
We totally agree! We're one of the few shops left that still did gear replacement, simply because our customers had been using them for decades and really didn't want to learn a new machine at their age.
I have been fiddling with my 603e i just got all day. It will wind a bobbin just fine, but wont sew. When trying to sew the top thread just wraps around the bobbin. I followed this video, rethreaded, cleaned, oiled, checked everything. Upon closer inspection of the manual for sewing after inserting a bobbin, i think the issue is that the the machine isnt bringing the bobbin thread up. When i try to get the bobbin thread to come up through the throat plate to create the loop so i can grab the threads, it doesn't come up, and if i keep turning the wheel, thats when the top thread starts winding around the bobbin. How do i fix this?
I have the 600e metal gear machine. You should not have to take the track out to remove the bobbin case. It flips up slightly and then you just ritste the bobbin case back and forth slightly and it will lift right out.
I have a 603 e and I have followed the directions for changing the cams. None of them will switch to the stitches.. only the same straight and zig zag. Have any suggestions?
The ring below the bobbin holder doesnt move when i press the pedal. I can move it manually. But the whole bobbin compartment doesnt move when i move the needle up and down...help?
Hi there, that's bad news, but very common for Touch & Sew machines and other machines with old, plastic-nylon gears. The gears are broken that drive that piece under the bobbin case. The only way to fix it is to replace gears, and it's one of the most complex procedures, even for a seasoned technician. I wrote a blog post about it awhile back, you can find it below. Please note that I no longer have a service shop and no longer offer gear replacement. www.sewingdoc.com/post/sewing-machine-gear-replacement-all-the-details
I noticed there was no answer to this question. If you ever found the answer, can you share please. I’m having trouble with my 603E with thread jamming. After watching this video. I will go back to this machine and see about any burrs that may be in those two areas mentioned.
The tab on my bobbin case will not lock into place. Help? I have removed the case and the latches. I did notice the bobbin case has what seems to be a screw which fastens into nothing. Does this indicate the bobbin case is broken? I have the model 600
The nut and spring that the screw held, fell off and are possibly buried in the machine somewhere. The other option is to purchase another bobbin case..
@@1953childstar i’m still searching RUclips to find out what purpose that nut and screw serve. I’m about to give up on my 603E and I will if I can’t find a video to help me correct it. I hate to part it out, but I have no other choice.
Help. I took the top off my 755 touch and sew it that someone gave me. Cleaned and oiled a nd cant get lid alligned properly. Side door may be at fault. Don't want to pay a pro. 😮😮😮
Open the side door on the left. And look underneath where you will see a clip that will just need to push to your right for it to snap in. Hope this helps.
Using your examples/axplanations and some fiddling managed to fix the problem I was having with my 626's threading, thanks so much!

Not all touch and sews are equal. The original ones are far superior than the later models.
Hi Dorothy, can you tell me more? I have the 600e and want to know if that's one of the better ones.
@@verdantabyss5951 the touch and sew 600E is the preferred model .
Mine is an autoreel 600. Am I to believe this is the earlier batch of the 600s?

Wonderful, thank you so much for your very kind feedback! We have a lot more coming!

Agreed! This video was specifically made to help someone in our program that was having issues with their machine.
When I’m winding the bobbin i find that it’s catching underneath creating a loop. How do i stop that

What do you do to "fix" the eccentric screw if the screw is always loosening up and not keeping the position bracket in a stable position??
Check the front of the machine for a small hole in line with the eccentric screw. Some of the models have a set screw that holds the eccentric.

I realize this was a year ago but for future readers, this is usually your gear underneath has been destroyed.
Do you have any idea why the bobbin would be lifting up when sewing?

Check in the bottom for broken gears😊
