The tutorial video, on how to install Sonoma on 2012 MacBook Pro, is live here: ruclips.net/video/mFYoCppHQrg/видео.html
Tried it on my Macbook Pro 2011. Worked like a charm. Running smooth and flawless. Thanks, man. The only thing I am looking to update is the battery for my MacBook Pro. Please suggest a good replacement battery for the MacBook Pro 2011-12 model.
Can you tell how is the universal control on it? Looking to upgrade my mid 2012 macbook pro to Sonoma. Also which version is best to install for daily use, Ventura or Sonoma?
Hi,
Macos catalina / MacOS sonoma
Are the speed differences big?
You don’t know how happy you just made me. My 2012 Mac has been running so slow for some time now so I been using my iPad Pro. Since seeing your video I changed out the ram and added SSD as suggested, followed your instructions and now my Mac is alive and well again. Thanks man
How does you mac run the sonoma OS in general usage? Did you upgrade your RAM to 16Gb? I have a 2011 mac book pro with 8 Gb memory. Just wondering would it run the new OS or if it did, how good.
@@muurimc no lie it’s like I have a brand new Mac again. It’s truly running great. I’m using it for work usage plus personal and it doesn’t miss a beat. I did upgrade my Ram. That’s a necessity!
@@AlabamaJay sounds amazing
what RAM and SSD did you install
My continuity camera WORKS!!! Also I am able to use my iPad side by side with it. I have a mid 2012 with 1TB SSD and 16 GB of ram with Sonoma. Not bragging. Just hope this helps someone.
What iPhone do you have?
With my 13 Pro I can see it show up as a device but I do not get any video.
I had the same problem in Ventura as well
@@Eevnos I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Can you please let me know which SSD and ram you purchased. I have a mid ‘12 as well and this open core patcher is working like a charm. But im sure it’d be better with a liter more juice
@@EevnosIt wasn’t working for me either (Mbpro Mid 2012, iPhone 12 Pro) but after I had to install Ventura for the second time started working, upgrade to Sonoma and it keeps working just fine
Hello, I have a 2012 MacBook. I saw that the maximum RAM would be 8GB. Is it even possible to put 16GB of RAM?
The Firewire does indeed work!
These little machines are beasts. Almost indestructible and still run Sonoma like it's nothing. Amazing. 🤩
continuity camera works great on my 2012 Mac Pro, 16 GB ram, 512 GB SSD, OS 14.2.1 Sonoma. works like a charm
Glad your back! It's been a while!
Thanks! I’ve had a bunch of challenges this year, but I should be back to uploading content regularly now.
Thank you for sticking with the channel!
FYI, I have a mid 2014 macbook pro. I was afraid to do the full upgrade so I installed Sonoma on an external SSD to test all my softwares first, after that I ended up upgrading the internal hard drive to Sonoma and surprisingly It works faster than with the official Big Sur.
Why I installed Sonoma, because I work with audio (music) and video and some plugins and software are no longer supported by Big Sur.
Now they work perfectly.
That's great news!
I don't have have a 2014 (only 2011, 2012 and 2015) so I appreciate you posting your experience with it!
Ok, i have to update ❤
Thank you sir! Just got it downloaded on my mid 2012
Still loving my mid 2012 MacBook Pro 2.9GHz i7 🤙🏼
I'm glad you're safe and sound with us again this year. Glad to see you and the video as well!
I have a MacBook Pro retina late 2012; i5, 8gb ram, 256ssd and it works just fine, now I can have the newest version of Logic Pro and my home studio works great
This is good to know! I installed Monterey using open core and it worked fine, hoping to upgrade again but I rely on Logic for work so I need it to work well!
Are you using Logic Pro X? I am upgrading my MBP 2012 to a 480gb ssd and I’ve already got 16gb ram, I’m purely using it for music production and wanting to make the switch from Ableton and ProTools to Logic Pro X
i'm using MBP mid 2012 loaded with 16gb RAM and 1tb SSD. The Sonoma runs okay, the problems are at the camera access, when using Microsoft Teams and Zoom app, the camera doesnt work well. I've run the TCCPLUS mod and the results vary a lot. Sometimes my camera stops woking during calls, a nightmare tho. Another aspect i don't like is the wallpapers, you cannot load your own video background so it's kinda annoying and boring. I'm running Photoshop 2020 and Premiere 2020 and works fine.
I'm running Sonoma on a 2012 MacBook Air, its fine. its a bit laggy even with an upgraded SSD. but its totally useable!
Yeah, some things are super smooth and some things are a bit jittery on mine.
It seems to be anything that heavily uses the GPU is where it lags, are you seeing the same thing?
Thank you for all your videos sir. I always wanted to get this MBP 2012. to play with it, use linux, and even try this latest Mac OS.. This machine is just amazing.
I'm so grateful for your videos it's amazing thank you so much ❤
Thanks so much, I really appreciate them and I'm glad you find them useful!
This was so timely! Definitely upgrading to Sonoma soon. I’m still on Catalina here. Quick one, for this particular laptop’s battery, is there any brand you’d recommend for a swap? Been searching all over and all I see is generic brands on Amazon which I’m not sure I can trust
Honestly I don't really have a brand to recommend, the after market ones I've used have all been pretty much the same.
I've yet to find one that provides the same battery life that the brand new, official, Apple one provided.
@@EevnosOh man, alright, thanks for the feedback
I've been using EGOWAY with good success. Purchased it on Amazon a while back.
I’ve been waiting for this video, so happy to see it. I use a 2012 MacBook Pro with Sonoma on it, it seems to be running better then Ventura although when I did use OS 13 it was on a HDD and now I’m using an SSD so that may be a part of it. And I’m very happy with my computer, I’d like to have a upgraded to the max version some day.
Excellent!
Going from a spinning drive to an SSD makes a huge difference!
How much RAM do you have in yours?
@@Eevnos 8GBs, but I plan to max it out to 16GBs, there is this company who makes "Made for Mac" ram that is more optimized for the Mac hardware and software and should preform better then regular ram. I was originally using a 500 GB HDD that came with it but at my local WallMart I found a high end 500 GB SSD for under $20 new so I had to jump on that. (it was on sale and it was the last one there) I do plan to put a 8TB SSD in it whenever I get the money to. :)
What SSD would offer the best speeds?@@Eevnos
I am currently using a 2012 MacBook Pro with Catalina as the main operating system. Although any other OS after Mac OS X can strain the GPU a bit too much, it still runs very quietly and efficiently and lasts for almost three hours on battery. The only issue I have encountered is that the newest version of Microsoft Office does not support Catalina anymore.
I mostly use it for watching RUclips, Twitch, and occasionally streaming from Steam. Despite its age, it still serves this purpose well and it´s supported by all major browsers ...
That's great!
I'm all about using whatever works for you.
If you're happy with it then there's no reason to upgrade.
Have you ever checked out LibreOffice?
It's a full office suite that has pretty good MS Office compatibility.
You may be able to use that as a replacement for MS Office in Catalina.
You can download the last compatible upgrade of Office 365 and it still works. It's an update from 2022.
Are you still using your 2012 MBP?
If so, what are you currently running on it?
Sonoma
i have a base model 2012 mac book pro i am 14 and at christmas i am going to upgrade but i bought mine for 195 from cex because of the waranty is that a good price?
@@joshuat502 honestly, price is very subjective. If you feel like it was a fair price and you are happy with the computer then that's all that matters.
Sonoma
I run the latest version Linux Mint and/or Zorin
Great video. Have a mid 2012 MBP updated to SSD and 16GB of Ram. Want to update to Sonoma and would love to see an updated video. Thanks!
Thanks so much!
I just finished the install tutorial and it'll go public tomorrow morning at 9:15 AM Eastern / 6:15 AM Pacific / 2:15 PM GMT tomorrow.
I tried the latest on my Mac Pro 5,1 but it was too maintenance intensive. On my 2012 MacBook Pro Retina 15” I just went with Ubuntu and it runs great and does everything I need.
Thank you bro ❤ yeah we need a updated install vid bless up 🙏🏾💙
Thanks!
A few people have asked for it so I'll definitely be putting one together.
Well, some folks just can't win. I tried many different approaches to using OpenCore Legacy Patcher to install Sonoma on my Mid-2012 MBP, but after numerous failures, I finally gave up. Many times got to the Sonoma install, but the installation never ended, locking up the machine. So, if I wish to continue use of the machine, I will have to perform a complete reload of the original software and then perform numerous updates to get it up to Catalina, the last OS that the machine would install successfully.
Would love to see a tutorial!
Ditto
Awesome, a few people have asked for it so I'll definitely put it together.

I rolled back to Big Sur after trying Ventura on my 2012 mbp. I just do simple stuff, and Big Sur guarantees a long battery life which is really what I need more. By the way, thanks for these videos :)
You’re very welcome, thanks for watching.
I’m all about using whatever works for you.
So Big Sur is worth it? Because I've been thinking about installing Big Sur on mine too, but I'm afraid that it'll be super buggy or something.
@@user-qd8jr6cx6u Not buggy at all, to me it's worth to have more compatible apps
I have a high end 2011 mbp 13” it runned very smoothly with big sur. I now run it with monterey and it runs very good on it.
I have already tested ventura and sonoma, but bc I don’t have enough ram yet, i haven’t installed to my internal disk
i upgraded the ssd and ram on a mid 2012 macbook pro i got on ebay for £50. it works floorlessly and even the battery still holds
It there any DJ who has is running sonoma in the 2012 macbook pro?
No idea😅
I finally succeeded, but my original MBP has an encrypted drive, so it took me quite some struggling to install Sonoma on the primary harddisk.
I’m using a 2010 17” with OCLP & Sonoma. It works good. A little slow at boot up, but for just using it for basic tasks it’s fine.
That's great!
I have a 2011, that I haven't tried it on, so may need to pull that out and try it.
I am using a 2012 MBP, I need a tutorial to install it in my Mac.
I will be putting one together, thanks!
I really appreciate your tutorials which are very helpful.
I have a late 2012 13” MBP with a 2.6g i5 and 8 Gb Ram. I used one of your previous videos to update from Catalina to Ventura but it seems to have become quite slow, particularly playing back a short video and battery life has suffered. It als does some odd things in Open Office which may be better in Apache. I expect the slowness is due to low RAM but it’s soldered so not as easy to upgrade.
Have you hear of these issues or have any recommendations.
Thanks,
!
The newest versions of Safari in Ventura have been running really poorly for me as well (Mid 2012 Macbook Pro i7 16GB). I switched to Firefox and performance / battery life seems better.
Do you use a never ssd or the original hdd, I upgraded my mid 2012 to an ssd and I have 8 gigs of ram. I was scared that it wouldn't run well on Ventura or Sonoma so I desited to go with Monterey but I will propably get the Sonoma because it has been running so well
@@bigtimegambler5858 Interesting, I am running Monterey on my mid 2012 15 inch i7 with only 8 gigs of ram and so far no problems, I am thinking of upgrading to Sonoma
@@randomfinn13 thanks for your reply. It’s a bit strange. I replaced the original 256G SSD with a larger 2nd hand MacBook 512G SSD. At that time everything ran well for many months. Later I upgraded to Ventura and soon saw some odd things with open office like screen not refreshing and generally a bit slow. I ran like this for 6 months as it was tolerable but undesirable.
Unrelated but on the same machine about a month or 2 ago after shutting the machine down it got so bad after I restarted it that it was almost unusable. Closing a document or application would take nearly a minute. I did some searching and saw that this machine is known to have issues with the SATA cable so I was thinking of trying to replace that and borrowed my daughter’s MacBook to use a while. Oddly enough a month later after a few more restarts the machine improved back to how it was after upgrading. So now it’s usable again but probably still a bit slower than with Catalina.
I could try upgrading it to Sonoma.
Thanks
Am using macos sonoma on my 2011 macbook pro 13', i have 10gb of ram and an ssd..pretty good. Smooth, no peoblems. Using the current Open core legacy patcher v1.4.3 and everything is perfect. Only problem is alittle bit of heating, but hey, was heating before too, so, yea, it's good.
I've upgraded my MBP 15,4 inch with Intel I7 from mid 2012 with 16GB RAM and 500GB SSD, and it runs fine on Sonoma. Only thing, the battery should be replaced, and that's not worth the money anymore.
Yes, please do a new video on OCLP... Please
Amazing video man! thanks, i hope you can do the tutorial after... i want to update my macbook so i think you can help us with that haha
Thanks, I appreciate that!
The tutorial video will be up tomorrow morning at 9:15AM Eastern / 6:15AM Pacific.
Thanks for watching!
Even if they'd phase out Intel support I'm sure that the guys at Opencore would find a workaround or create a custom kernel to get support for Intel back into Mac OS again. I mean look how many Mac's are back on track again after Opencore started this. It would not surprise me if they'd manage to get it to work even if they phase out Intel CPU's.
Where are you after 8 months ago Eevnos?
Had some personal stuff, but I’m back with it now.
Thanks for asking!
@@Eevnos your welcome
i have the mbp retina mid 2012 16GB and SSD updated to ventura than downgraded to monterey, i think it runs snappier,
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I still think that for old PC you need Linux, not because is better but because is faster.
Yeah, I would agree that most Linux distros perform much better on these machines.
This option is really for people that have specific Mac software they use or need the Apple ecosystem.
which is great you offer to use in 2024 for programming macbook pro 2012 or 2013 or 2017
Hello Mr. Eevnos.
Please, when are we getting a video on how to install Sonoma on 2012 mbp?
It's available now: ruclips.net/video/mFYoCppHQrg/видео.html
My continuity camera works I have a MacBook Air 2011 13 inch upgraded to sonoma using open core legacy patcher and continuity camera works I have a 12 pro max that works with it
I admire the developers of OCLP, BUT I think that the last system officially supported by Apple is the best (Catalina). I appreciate the new features of the new systems, but I'd rather buy a new or used Apple TV 4K than a used MBP 2012. Why? The new or used Apple TV 4K HAS the features that the MBP 2012 DOES NOT HAVE. I love to use my Apple TV 4K with my iPhone SE 2022 as a camera, it works great. The last "official" system supported by Apple is a kind of warranty that everything will WORK. Not a penny more not a penny less. I do not expect the best features from an old MacBook, but yes, the features that worked 5 years ago I hope will still work. The usage of the older iPhones is much worse, because I can't recover on older iOS system... It's a pitty!
Unfortunately, if you run, Catalina, and use third-party applications (especially Apple ones) there are some programs that will no longer run on Catalina.
So if you’re using apps that run on Catalina, or OK to stick with older versions of current apps, then I would agree that Catalina runs better on the computer.
OCLP is a great option for people that need the newer versions of those applications but don’t want to have to purchase a new machine to do so.
I’m currently using Ventura on my 2012 10gb ram 512ssd. Would like to upgrade tough, can I do that by just upgrading from within Ventura? Like on suppported Mac?
Thanks a lot for your videos, they brought new life to my old workhorse Mac. Goal is to keep it t least eight more years, we’ll see.
Awesome, I'm glad you find my videos useful!
I have had mixed results upgrading directly within MacOS.
If you try it, definitely download the most recent version of open core first.
Then run the post upgrade install scripts as soon as the upgrade is done.
im running sonoma on my 2012 mbp with SSD and 16gb ram. bit laggy but def still useable. one issue is every couple of hours while its asleep it makes a kind of hard drive-y noise that sounds like its turning on or restarting. would want to try a PRAM n SMC reset but worried it would mess up the opencore install. anyone know how to do it with opencore installed?
the main issue im having is the battery, ive replaced it with 3 different ifixit batteries but theyre all awful compared to original battery, whenever i leave the MBP lying around and then go back to it the next day the battery is usually dead. anyone know where to get decent replacement batteries?
It sounds like your mac is set to never go to sleep. To fix this go to to the energy saver settings and uncheck the box “prevent mac from sleeping automatically when display is off”
Hello @Eevnos! Salute from India.
Your videos are great. I installed ventura via oclp, with the help of your video related to it, and it runs smoothly. But i experienced it to heat very much. I know indian subcontinent is very hotter than others countries. And this maybe the reason for it to release heat. I am afraid that it may damage the machine overtime. What should i do? Should i go back to catalina, or stay on ventura or upgrade to sonoma?
Have you ever looked at replacing the thermal paste on your processor?
I used to have overheating issues before I scraped off the old paste and applied a new layer.
Other than that, I haven’t noticed any issues, in Sonoma, with getting too hot.
Also, I am glad that you find my content useful
Another Great Video.
i recently obtained this exact macbook and intend to use it for garage band, and backing up my cd collection to itunes/music. Never used a Mac before so your content is greatly appreciated.
Does the optical drive still work under Sonoma? Also do security updates still auto install when using an OS on an un-supported system.
Thanks In Advance.
A disc drive is supported in all MacOS versions still. And the computer doesn’t know it is not officially supported, so it does everything normally as far as updating
Hi! Thank you so much for your very helpful videos! I successfully installed Ventura on my 2012 MBP following the instructions in one of your videos using the OpenCore Legacy Patcher. It works great! Every day i get messages from my MBP to upgrade to Sonoma. My question is: Can i upgrade using "System Update" in MacOS or do i have to use OCLP? Thanks!
yes! pls do a tutorial!
Hi. Thanks for sharing this video.
I have some questions.
How it is performance after few months?
It works with old the old software installed in Catalina os?
Thank you.
I just got this machine off of eBay for $56.56 including tax and shipping! It has 8GB RAM and unfortunately the 500GB mechancial hard drive. Easy enough to swap it out for a 1TB SSD for about $50 I still have to check if the 16GB is worth it for this machine. Is it? Seems like the current macs still have base models with 8GB of RAM.
The 16 gigs is definitely worth it. Some of the newer models inly have 8GB but keep in mind those are using the Apple Silicon chips. That architecture has much more efficient memory usage than the Intel architecture. So 8GB on an Apple Silicon chip is not the same as 8GB on an Intel chip.
Its normal always restarting my laptop i already follow your tutorial upgrade to sonoma but always on progress
MBP15 mid 2012 OCLP 13.0: 14.2 along with 17.2.1 prevented music library sync with iPhone. No problem with iPod and iPad sync. Now, with 14.3 and 17.3, music library partially syncs but messes up the playlist. Certain ticked playlists are subconsciously deleted from the MBP during syncing. This can be a serious issue for the next 3 years. Unless resolved, there is no point in proceeding with Sonoma on unsupported devices.
The answer is maybe on some apple products. I’ve tried this on mid-2012 retina MacBook Pro and late 2013 iMac and neither install worked. (Tried about 10x)

I just update my macbook pro mid 2012 (512 SSD, 8 Go RAM) using OpenCore legacy patcher. All is OK but the macbook is hotter when using my DAW or when converting wav in mp3. Now, today I receive an "automatic upgrade message" from the system : " Upgrade to SONOMA" !

MBP 2015 with sonoma please
It's coming up.
I just released the Sonoma install tutorial and the 2015 video is next on the list.
does it overheats?
Hi there! Your videos have helped me out a ton in the past. Can I used the update prompts in my settings to update to Sonoma from Monterey or do I have to do the whole patcher process over again? It’s a 2011 MacBook Pro I’m using
Heyy, it would work but sometimes the patch doesn’t install automatically so in my case before, I couldn’t log in because the wallpaper is trying to animate but the graphics still isn’t patched so I was just in a continuous loop on my lockscreen. So my suggestion is to do the same process but instead of resetting the ssd/hdd you can just proceed with installing it directly to your hard drive. In this way, you wouldn’t lose any of your apps and files and the graphics would also be patched automatically
I find Ventura works a bit better on my early 2013 15" macbook pro retina thats with 8Gb ram, can't update ram on 2013 unfortunately.

Hey thanks for the tutorial, I am operating Sonoma on a macbook pro (late 2012). it works great but because this version of the macbook is everything on board and I can't upgrade the RAM it is running kinds slow. Which version of MAC OS would you recomend for a a more smoother feel? I am considering just converting this macbook pro to an Chrome flex OS so it can run better. but would really like to keep the MAC OS.
don't fear linux, give it a try. arch runs great and is really light on resources
this whole thing following your videos has given my macbook pro mid 2012 the black screen boot loop and unfinishing loading screen everytime and now circle with cross symbol. i need help
When you do this, can you just clone it? Or would you need to install OCL first to do it. Ty.
Are you asking if you can just clone the install from another computer that already has Sonoma?
I’ve never actually tried, but, in theory, you could do that, then boot off the open core thumb drive to configure the boot loader and install the post install scripts.
If you end up trying that please write back and let me know if it worked
Hello. I would like to know what the battery status is like, as in some models, before 1000 cycles, it changes to maintenance. Thanks.
At this point with all the macOs version till this day... Which version do you recommend to me, guys? I installed Ventura months ago, but I decided ro go back to Monterey... But now, I don't know if it's a good idea to upgrade it or not, what do you think? I just want to have the most smooth version.
I have Monterey on mine too, I was thinking of upgrading it to Sonoma and I'm wondering the same as you 😅
@@randomfinn13I think we are never gonna know... Hahaha, but in my opinion I think I'll stick with Monterey. I mean, I tested big sur years ago and it doesn't run correctly at all. Battery life seems to be the same for me, at least it's the same as it was in Ventura. It's very hard to say if it's going to be good for you or not because these machines are so old that there is so much variation in battery health

Which OS upgrade would you suggest for my MacBook pro 9.2 (Mid 2012) non retina but with 16gb RAM and 256GB Samsung SSD and i7 processor, Ventura - Sonoma, Usage is limited to web browsing only mostly as it is my secondary laptop, I am primary a window PC user....Thanks in advance
I went with Monterey on my mid 2012 model, but I'm probably going to upgrade to Sonoma soon
i currently using mbp mid 2012 since 2015, but now with ram 16 gb and ssd 512, running on mojave, and working great. wonder if my mac still great to be upgraded to catalina? bcs before, my mac did crashing when i was upgrading os (maybe 6-7 years ago, and this was before i upgrading to 8 gb of ram and 1 tb of hdd). still worried if the same thing happen again. thankyou!
The Mid-2012 MacBook Pro is a supported device by Apple to run macOS Catalina. Since you maxed out the RAM and added an SSD, it will run perfectly fine.
trackpad missing in system setting ... please help, tried to install root patches, but still missing
Once you have installed Sonoma the Macbook automatically updates?
I upgraded mine to Monterey and it's giving me an option to download Sonoma in the settings like on a supported Mac
After installing the Sonoma on my MBP 2012, I tried to 'CLONE' the disk using "Carbon Copy Cloner" but failed as its throwing the error "The APFS replication procedure failed." any help would be appreciated.
Music applications on macOS High Sierra 10.13, audacity, GarageBand, will those work, I know now web browser and RUclips will work but what about the apps I mentioned and iMovie app i subscribed 👍
The Apple apps will update to Sonoma versions through the App Store once you upgrade the OS, audacity will work on it fine but the one thing you need to do is backup any iMovie library files and photo library files because once you open them on a more recent OS, they'll only ever open on that OS again. I tried Sonoma on my Mac Mini Server (16GB, SSD boot drive, 2.6GHz i7) and when it proved too sluggish and I went back to Monterey, it couldn't open them anymore because it complains about them being created in a newer version. There's no excuse for why Apple does this when their productivity apps like Pages, Numbers are backwards compatible with any version of Mac OS X or iOS you happen to be using.
I put Sonoma on mine but can’t stream Hulu, Paramount, or Peacock on Safari, but can with Chrome? Any suggestions? Thank you in advanced.
Check if you are using a VPN and also check if iCloud private relay is turned on. I have seen people have trouble with streaming, through Safari, when that private relay is on.
its necessary have 16gb of ram? my MacBook have 8.
Do you have flash screen issue when play movie in TV app full screen? Thank you.
I had a little bit of flickering and bugging when using yt in full screen when I got the upgrade but it has kind of disappeared
I would like to ask if the Mac can virtualize with sonoma?
Does the appstore works just fine and can i download the apps easily?
Because i was not allowed to download new apps in my mbp due to software being limited just to catalina. Help please
I am currently having a 21.5" Mid 2013 iMac i5 with 8 gigs of RAM and the stock 1TB HDD thats stuck on Catalina. Should i try installing Sonoma on it? P.S no money for upgrading to SSD :(
I am using 2012 mbp high sierra with 2.4 processor. i just upgraded the hdd to ssd and memory is now 16gb instead of the 8gb. Is it possible to run ventura ?
Yes, you can Run Ventura or even Sonoma.
I have had issues when it came to create Mac OS installer. I have the exact same MacBook Pro late 2012. 500GB SSD 16GB RAM. New and formatted 32 GB USB drive. Running Catalina now. Error : Open Core Patcher ( 33758:149536) Starting Erasing Disk 0% -100% IA app name cookie write failed. The bless of the installer failed. Any idea what I could do to move forward? I have tried it several times using the latest installer version. Also on Ventura and Sonoma..Thanks in advance.
i have a MBP 2012 with 10GB ram and 256 SSD. ¿can i use sonoma on it?
I would upgrade to 16GB, if you’re going to use Sonoma.
What if it fails to install? How do I get around it
How much MB/S do you get when you do a speed test
My battery is not showing after the update
Well after watching the video went to ventura like you did and now I got a update to Sonoma can I upgrade from ventura open core just did an update is there anything else I have to do just doing an update not a full install thanks
I have seen mixed reports about upgrading, so make sure you backup your system first.
You should be able to download the latest opencore, do the update and then run the post-install root patches again.
You should probably update the boot files on the EFI partition as well.
If you end up doing it please write back and tell us if it was successful.
well so far so good installed Sonoma last night ran open core patches then wifi and everything started working still trying things so far working fine I did update open core first before I did this@@Eevnos
well at first the screen saver was a little jumpy and it works fine burned a cd no trouble it seems to work better than the ventura I had on here still trying more things RUclips worked great and the the intone player sounds great with my air pods
Does it work better than monterey ?
Monterey runs a bit better, mostly because Sonoma uses a lot of GPU specific task and The GPU in these machines are pretty slow.
You’ll notice more stuttering in Sonoma.
@Eevnos thanks for the reply happy to see back!
@@ybl12 thanks, I appreciate that!
@@Eevnos will changing system preferences settings like turning off transparency and turning off animation help reduce the GPU load? do you think these two changes can help prevent the fans from starting to spin and get a similar performance to Monterey. I mainly need my 2012 for web browsing and zoom calls
Big bro. Could this work on Macbook Pro late 2011?
