- Third step of a major overhaul of my 4x4 converted overlanding astro. I will be swapping out to Chevy 64" leaf spring, shifting my rear axle back 2" as well as building new structure for the back half.

Looking forward to more videos on this build.
I have a 2001 Astro passenger van like yours that has rust in the rear of the frame near the rear leaf spring perches…. Using the box beam to replace the rear section is genius! I just need to do the repairs to keep it on the road a few more years. I will probably use a box beam and some 3/4” angle iron to create the flange to plug welding it in! Thanks for the great idea! I may strip off all the plastic around the bottom too, to fix all the rust!
So stoked on this thank you for the detailed videos.
No problem!
Very cool. You're doing some nice Fab work! Looks like fun. Can't wait to see it done.
Thanks! Lots more work to do but good progress!
Very cool build. Most people would be afraid to start doing a custom frame, but it looks like a perfect solution here. I'd love to see more of the fabrication process, your cuts and fitup looks excellent I'm sure I could learn something from watching it 😂.
Thanks! I was actually watching your videos on your TTB build. I can try and show more of the process in my next videos as it may be different than how some other people do it. personally I don't see myself as much of a fabricator through!
Can’t wait to see the end result. 35s are small on a jeep but would make an astro look like a monster truck.
Hows it going? Watched this a while ago and then again tonight, hoping for more updates? I know life gets in the way... just hope to see more! Thanks! Goose!
Can we hang out please. These videos are amazing. Makes me enjoy all the dumb things I do to my astro.
I'd be a lil worried about putting the fuel fill cap out the tail like that, over the bumper-ish. If the filler cap ever comes off, you'd drop fuel soon as you take off.. no?
Super cool build regardless!
Thx for the inspiration. My 04 has 306k. I really want to give her a second life. You are to a whole different level Sir
What a project… Instant sub! I can’t wait for more videos
Thanks for the sub!
Super interested to see how this turned out
Awesome work!
awesome build , i would love to do this
Can't wait to see the rest of this build. I am building one right now myself albeit it differently. It is interesting to see different builds. Thanks for the content!
Very educational. Thanks!
dude! thanks for making this video. you're giving me lots of ideas!
Very cool as a guy that has a 4x4 astro ...but imo at the point one gets to solid axles in front I would find something bigger as I am always looking for more room ...also glad I live in the land were we don't salt the roads
you got any updates on this? man i wish i could i poke my head under there and just stare at how you layed all that out. man id like to do something like this and hot dis galvanize it.
Thanks for the ideas and motivation! Never thought about building my own rear chasis until I watched your videos... Are you still building it?
I like that you're local to me. I would like to see some action video of you working.
I don't mean to not show any work just not easy to do!
Man this is amazing what welder do you use
did you up load any more videos of the van ?
Shared to my Astro Van Tribe page on FB :)
Awesome!
Great video
Thanks!
Where is part 4, 5 and the FINAL?
More more more.....is it done?
heck yes!!!!!
Hahah fuckin 35s on an Astro Van hahahaha can’t wait
How did it turn out ? I wanna see the finished result.
Did you finish this project? I'm curious to see how it turned out
What tire size do you wanna put in ? My measures says me that after 33 I should cut off all fenders -so my plan is make it for 33 and stop . And I stay on IFS with 9.25 front
Did you ever finish it?
Van update?!
So guess no update
I would pay to have some work done to my van
I don't normally work on others but it's a possibility depending on what it is
Any updates? you haven't uploaded in a year, maybe life's been giving you a one two?
Ive seen you around the forums and FB groups for years. Why not start with a nicer van ?
By nicer I assume you mean rust free? Few reasons
Van has been in my family for 20 years and I've driven it since 2013 so lots of history.
Also I would be cutting out the same things if they where rusty or not so no reason to waste the money on a rust free van
