Inside the Mind of Splatoon 3 Kraken Royale Users

- The Splatoon 3 Kraken Royale is a refurbished version of one of the most popular specials in Splatoon 1: The Kraken. This new version of the Kraken, alongside the new octoling model, has a new charge attack that can one-shot enemies at a distance. To balance out this new feature, it has some slight startup lag and someone who sees them about to transform can easily cancel their Kraken. In my opinion it feels a bit more balanced in Splatoon 3 than it was in Splatoon 1 but it's still the same amount of fun as it was back then. It's only on a couple of Splatoon 3 weapons at the moment, but the list of weapons will surely expand with time. What main or special weapon would you like me to cover next? What special (other than the Super Chump) would you want me to do next? Let me know right here in the comments! 😉
killer wail 5.1 (not biased at all)
Wavebreaker would be interesting!
tacticooler my beloved
Supa chump🤥🐙🦑(not supER chump〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜)
Triple Inkstrike
this brings me back to my childhood of having nightmares about the kraken and almost having a heart attack every match :D
Dude, ur not alone. ☠️😭😂
No, because I was so scared of this thing
Same
same pal😔
the one thing that actually scared me when i was 5 playing splatoon with my dad
Octoling Kraken is giving…. Jimmy Neutron. But what I don’t understand with the Kraken, ( and all the other specials ) is how everyone else is so good at it, meanwhile I dash into the water each time😭 Maybe Tacticooler next? Anyway, amazing video, Alpha!
Just make sure not to charge into the water and not to transform over grates. That's a lot of people's first mistakes lol.
@@Alphastar716I made that mistake during a turf war match 😭
In Kraken's endlag you can still move. That's infinitely better than forced to be a statue after a reefslider. Kraken outclasses it and ultra stamp
I've only heard of the terrors that the Kraken brought to Splatoon 1, but since I was a Splatoon 2 scrub, I never experienced them for myself. I was actually quite happy that there weren't any of those broken specials in the later games...
*And then the fresh season happened.*
tentamissles from S2 called, they want your opinion back!
Oh it was WOOOOORSE my friend, it was worse. The kraken was just immune to all damage and had no start and end lag. For this reason it was THE panic button, and people would often scare me so hard that I fell out of the chair.
Tenta missiles, crab tank, ink armor, sting ray. May I remind you
@@Number.1Yanfei.Fan123 Thank you for the very helpful reminder.
@@Number.1Yanfei.Fan123 crab tank is from splatoon 3 not 1 or 2
honestly the kraken is sooo fun to use and not completely terrible to fight against honestly
The pain new players will never feel of running away from a kraken chasing toward you on arowana mall
Ah the memories, using both areospray and gal praying one isn't on the other team (though with how broken it was surprised it wasn't on every team anyway)
I'm a veteran Splatoon 1 player and all I can say is, "Kraken is love. Kraken is life."
I WAS BEGGING FOR IT MAN
Real
Yeah and it's gonna be the end of it too
Bro. You are a mind reader. As someone who loves kraken a ton, this is so true. I am glad to see the kraken come back. I only played Splatoon 1 at a friend’s house but I loved to use it for the time I did. I am happy to see it come back. And I will admit, it has some nerfing that is fair will still keeping what made it special
I'm glad a new generation of Splatoon fans get to witness the terror- I mean terrific Kraken!
1:20 “OHHHH LAAAWWRRDDDD KARRENNNN GET MY CROSS AND SHOTGUN THE DEVIL’S BEEN RESURRECTED!” 😭😭😭
Btw, Kraken Royale has piercing properties, as i discovered to my delight after oneshotting a steelhead. And a scrapper. And several lessers.
I honestly thought the kraken wasn’t as bad as the splatoon one version, but apparently it’s a power house according to competitive players. Tho I will say it’s quite awkward when your trying to go full aggro and your opponent just avoids everything or just has ninja squid to hide from you, it’s a tad bit humiliating but Jesus this thing must be a nightmare on tower control…
BUT AT LEAST WE’RE NOT AS BAD AS CRAB BABEH
@@dr.happyfuntimes1214 look I have no problem with you kraken mains…but I will say crab is a nuisance. So I’ll drink to that!
The moment you hear the sound of a kraken being activated, you know you're very likely a target... r u n
Seriously, they somehow managed to make the most terrifying splatoon 1 special an even bigger threat, quite literally too.
Awesome video Alpha! 🐯
I loved that the kraken returned
While others feared the kraken, I tamed the kraken back in the old glory days of Inkopolis.
I'm excited especially for side order since
Kraken does 60 damage minimum
Octarians get splatted after 60 damage (they die to a direct burst bomb hit, which does 60 damage)
Meaning that there's a giant chance there is an infinite kraken level in side order
This bring back old memories when I use the kraken in splatoon 1 I had so mush fun getting kills with it 💙💛
Telling someone they smell like old playdough is a visceral and very on theme to start a kraken video.
kraken.
*immense amount of cheering*
The people who started after fresh season arrived that never heard of kraken must be raging at the 7 second invincibility
As someone who started with Splatoon 2 as my first game, I find 1:09 very accurate! Good Job Alpha
As someone who only played Splatoon 2 (and started a literal week before 3’s announcement lmao) I never did experience the terror of the OG kraken for myself, however, just watching RUclips videos was enough for me to know this thing was going to be too teir, if not Splash 2.0 on release.
As a 96 Deco player, I love this bad boy that Kraken Royale is
5:50 "I just feel like the Kraken shouldn't even be allowed on the tower."
Hey so good news,
As a splatoon 1 veteran, it was terrifying when the enemy team had a kraken and you could only hope the kraken ran out before your ink tank did.
*and now they gave it a charge attack*
Ackshually it’s called the kraken Royale I’m splatoon 3 *snorts intensely*
IT'S THE THING ABOUT *"RUBY GILLMAN: THE TEENAGE KRAKEN"*
something I never knew I would see in my life
Finally, kraken inside the mind
I played splatoon 1 at my friend's house a lot when I was younger and I was pretty bad at video games then so I loved kraken because it meant I just got to win a fight with him by pressing the stick
“You know chill season was nice, but I am exited for the new fresh season” *checks twitter* “Oh no”
The thing I feel most satisfying with kraken is when you stall them through squid rolling
I cant believe I was in a match against you Alpha! (I was the Tri Slosher on HangleFish Market in Turf War) :O
(Sorry about that off topic) great video though! Haha :D
It was nice playing against you!
4:16 can't help but get the "The matrix is after me" vibes.
Kraken Splat Roller User here! The only reason I use it is the beacons so I can just put them anywhere for my team.😅
I was both the victim of the Kraken and the user of the Kraken in Splatoon 1 yet I still fear it with all of my soul.
Alpha is right I am to blood thirsty with the kraken lol
Started with Splatoon 2, but I played Splatoon 1 on my friends wii a bunch. I experienced first hand the kraken. Terrified when I heard it was coming back
WOOOOOO KRAKENNNNN I LOVE YPU KRAKEN 😭😭😭😭

oh boy here we go,, I just love it when I’m helping my team out in splat zones only to be jumpscared by a kraken popping up behind me and charging straight for me like its a free rated R movie 😀 /s
Every second you are not running, the Kraken is getting closer 😀
As someone who mained Krak-On in S1, and still mains it now I'm thrilled it's back. It took me uh, longer than I'd like to admit to remember there's start up lag, and I landed off stage at least once on stream (I think it was in Umami).
Glad there's major knock back when you're on tower as kraken now, because honestly you shouldn't really be up there anyway. Best let a teammate ride tower while you scare the enemy team away from it (unless there's a bomb, then you go up and tank it to keep from losing control of the tower and reset that timer).
I first played in splatoon 1 and i still pogged out of my mind when the kracken was announced.
2:19 respect to the guy who dodged your attack
0:23 for anyone wondering, it flickers to "Bring back Saltspray Rig"
Despite me playing all three games i absolutely lost it when I saw krackens return especially now that the octolings get their own version
The rapid text on 0:23 says “Bring back salt spray rig”
I don’t know who at Nintendo decided to make the kraken invincible, but then again if it’s invincible it feels more like how the kraken felt in Splatoon 1.
Also I’ve suggested this multiple times but idk if you noticed. *Cursed build idea: special power up wavebreaker.* I saw in a prochara vid how much the wavebreaker radius can increase with just 3 subs of special power up (which is a lot), so what if we add more? 👀
We needed at least ONE invincibility special to survive Crab Tank Hell
@@dr.happyfuntimes1214 ok yea true because crab is definitely very annoying
I think the more damage it takes the more duration lost on kraken
@@DiademAce oh I didn’t know that. My bad.
@@Hi.iExist nope never mind that doesn’t happen but it should be added in an update.
This thing singlehandedly brought 96 back into the meta, Kraken I love you but please stay exactly 10 feet away from me thank you.
*Approaches you with Kraken while spinning like a beyblade*
Imagine this you are a inkling and you see Sheldon post that he is bring back kraken. You are sad but yet you realize that the kraken is small and know with faster fire rate weapons it should be easy to deal with it. But when it came out it turn out to be 10 TIMES ITS SIZE! And start charging right at you and you can’t knock it back so you die in disbelief.
5:26 update, you can no longer hold the clam in kraken ;w;
Why am I having a cursed idea.
What if they brought back Stingray- BUT reworked it.
Instead of being a global special, it’s much shorter range, say half the map instead of full map or maybe less, just so that it doesn’t be broken on maps like Mahi Mahi. And once you start it, you have a small frame of time, like maybe half a second where all enemies have a thermal ink effect. But you cannot go into the ink to get this effect back. Stingray can still shoot through walls but does less damage than it would if it was shooting through the open.
And maybe instead of it being purely time based, it’s mainly based on how much you have ink your ink tank, but still has a duration of time before the Stingray poofs out of existence. And to add to that, once you finish using the stingray, you have to wait a little bit to charge it up again. Even though it looks used in your main bar, maybe in like a mini bar beside it shows how much you have to wait before you can charge it again.
If the devs really want to bring back the horrid nightmares of Splatoon 1 known as Kraken, I think this would be a decent way to bring back the horrid nightmares of Splatoon 2. Oh and to top it off.
Have this reworked stingray be on less paint efficient weapons, like maybe a gal, and well to be extra funny put it on a dynamo. And make it so that instead of being 190p for Gal, it’s maybe a 200p-210p special? Do that it gets it less Stingrays to make it not extremely broken. And for Dynamo, either keep it 180p or bump it up to 190p, since without any special charge up it takes 11 vertical flicks to charge up 1 tacticooler at 190p, and with 3 mains of special charge, it’s 7 vertical flicks. Maybe even put it on a foil squeezer? Nah-
And for Special power up, only increase it’s duration and or thermal ink effect duration to maybe a second and a half or 2 seconds. If they were to make it increase the length/damage through walls if they were to nerf the damage through walls, you’d see a lot of players run special power up. And if there is anything to explain how broken Stingray was and how it will be if they brought it back in it’s normal form, Stinger in salmon run is a clear reason as to why they should nerf it, if it comes back.
Do I think the devs should bring back Stingray? No, god no it would ruin balance, though would add a new option to counter Crab Meta. But I am not a game dev or a good special balance designer. I just wanted to, ramble about my favorite sounding special (the main reason I liked using it was for the sound and not it’s brokenness) and most hated fighting against special from Splatoon 2.
SALT ABOUT CARS? Count me IN
OMG VIC
*snorts intensely* krack royale.
here is an essay from chat gpt:
bloblobber: the best weapon ever
The Bloblobber is a powerful and versatile weapon in the popular video game Splatoon. This weapon stands out from the rest due to its unique features, making it the best weapon ever created in the game. In this essay, we will explore the reasons why the Bloblobber is the best weapon in Splatoon.
First and foremost, the Bloblobber is an extremely effective weapon in both offensive and defensive playstyles. Its primary mode of attack is a high-arc lob of ink, which allows the player to attack enemies from above or around obstacles. This makes it easier to catch enemies by surprise and take them out quickly. Additionally, the Bloblobber's secondary mode of attack is a shotgun-like burst of ink, which can be used in close quarters combat or for quick kills.
Another advantage of the Bloblobber is its ability to cover a large area with ink quickly. This is particularly useful in game modes like Turf War or Splat Zones, where the objective is to cover as much territory with ink as possible. With the Bloblobber, players can quickly and easily cover large swaths of territory, giving their team a distinct advantage over their opponents.
The Bloblobber is also a great weapon for taking out enemy ink armor, which is a common defense used by opponents to protect themselves from attacks. The high-arc lob of ink can easily bypass the armor, leaving opponents vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
Moreover, the Bloblobber has excellent range, allowing players to attack from a distance while still maintaining a safe distance from enemy fire. This makes it a particularly useful weapon for players who prefer to stay back and provide support to their teammates.
In terms of its design, the Bloblobber is a unique and interesting weapon that stands out from the rest. Its distinctive shape and bright colors make it a visually appealing choice for players who like to show off their style.
Finally, the Bloblobber is a relatively easy weapon to master, making it an excellent choice for players of all skill levels. Its simple yet effective gameplay mechanics make it easy for new players to pick up and play, while its versatility and range make it a popular choice among experienced players.
In conclusion, the Bloblobber is the best weapon in Splatoon ever created due to its unique features, effectiveness in both offensive and defensive playstyles, ability to cover large areas with ink quickly, great range, and ease of use. Its distinctive design and overall appeal make it a popular choice among players of all skill levels, making it a must-have weapon for any Splatoon player.
thanks chatgpt!
I have played Splatoon 1 and my response was this:
Finally, I have ascended Splatoon 1 with my loaded into Splatoon 3. AHAHAH
I used the Krak-on Splat Roller.
Ackshually it’s called the kraken royale in splatoon 3 *snorts intensely*
You smell like old play doh 😊👍🏾
5:20 a truly fitting reference
5:19 hey! It me! That’s me trying to superjump to someone about to die like the fool I am!
As a veteran of Splatoon “I’ve bin playing since day one” I can say the kraken is scary and wish they didn’t bring it back I honestly think it’s still broken, maybe not as broke as Splatoon OG but still
I appreciate the use of Pirate101 music in this video!
I started playing s2 in 2020 so I’m not that new. I did do my Splatoon 1 research, and I watch people like Prochara so I’m very aware of the comp meta 😅 but when I saw that kraken was coming...
*”oh Jesus”*
1:38 Go go gadget, concussion!
If you don’t do the super chump after then you are a giant chump you stanky chump you dang scrubby chump and you better put in the line “it’s chumping time” and then chump all over the enemy.
In splatoon 1 I used to keep the kraken at bay by knocking it back with an inkzooka since it had multiple shots
ive played Splatoon 1 and am the rare minority that loves the kraken. The sheer terror of seeing it, the power trip of having it. Op specials made Splatoon 1 Splatoon 1
First game: Splatoon 2
My reaction to specials in Splatoon 3: Of all the specials you chose to bring back, Nintendo, you chose the tents missiles over the splashdown?
Alpha pls keep up inside the mind it is so enjoyable
Ive always wanted to become squidward's head and use skull bash at every single poor hp special.
I say “Let there be giant sushi”, you say “let there be giant sushi”; we all say “Let. There. Be. Giant. Sushi.”.
I have not once ran off the edge while using Kraken.
I was a Kraken main back in splatoon 1, Hell Fire shall rain.
You should do the minds of point sensor also great video.
Ok so I never played splatoon 1 but I still got terrifyed when kraken royale was announced cuz I had heard some stories about it
as a spatoon 1 veteran myself, this thing gives me nightmares.
That intro was so relatable
removing kraken taming while adding 2.4 seconds to the duration “balancing” :)
1:08 Anyone notice that the newcomer's voice is Billy (Bonus points if you know who Billy is)
I started playing splatoon 1 when it came out but i was 5 so i forgot what the kraken even did
4:16 sure was a moment if the video
when i first used the kraken in splatoon 3 i stats pressing “X” and wondering why i wouldn’t jump, got to used to the kraken
lotta basketball refrences in this episode...
I never really use that special BUT when I encounter a kraken user I wait until their timer is up then splat 😂
I'm not a classic but 8 saw my older cousins play splatoon 1 the octoling one will give me nightmares
I ment i*
THOSE KRAKENS BETTER LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE
They look funny when they shrink back down lmao
I mained the kraken specials in splatoon 1 so I was not at all phased by it. *fear me mortals.* Also I was a small child with no idea the community was terrified of this special.
Ackshually its called the kraken royale in splatoon 3 *snorts intensely*
Ngl I was a Splatoon veteran but I loved the kracken it feels weird to play with it in 3
kraken= biggest bird
I thought I was the only one who likes saltspray rig.
Splatoon brothers
Could you do a inside the minds of ink vac users?
There is only one thing that can completely tame a kraken: THE INK VAC
Also the kraken royale is the only special to survive a GG booyah bomb on tower control
I played Splat 1 and I was excited yet confused to see the Kraken come back.
"Alley-oop"
Been waiting for this
Undertow Spillway is now even worse because of the 96-deco 😰
Kraken can cheese every ranked mode. U can tank a tri strike on the tower, get under the clam basket for free in clam blitz, assassinate the rainmaker or pick it up regardless of how well it’s being defended, and scare everyone off the zone by having a massive one shot hitbox. It’s even a good counter against crab on top of being fun to play. I can’t believe Nintendo didn’t realise what they have unleashed…
Alphastar please hear me out on this..
Can you please do “How Splatoon 1 players see the DLC”? Knowing you, you have probably already thought about it. No pressure, just putting that out there :)
It doesn't really have the content for a full-blown video on it, but I could always do a short on it! 👀
I was the type of kid that will just watch videos of people playing splatoon 1or just I will just watch my cousin's playing it
reefslider next would be poggers
YAHOO! I CAN SEE MEGAMIND VIBES AREN’T RARE AT ALL WITH THE OCTOLING KRAKEN!
I think kraken fits this game really well, in splatoon 2 the maps were just as bad as they are now, but to compensate for that we had uncounterable specials that let you brute force your way in. Now of course this lead to special spam, but honestly at least the game was playable, but now that splatoon 3 has actually good specials that can't brute force their way through any situation (except for crab tank, though even that isn't as broken as something like sting ray which didn't even need to think about positioning and just super jumped to spawn). Anyways, my point is that kraken is an unkillable special that forces the enemy team to give you a foothold, though since it has more counterplay and risk than other specials like that like sting ray or missiles, it's more fun to use and more fun to play against, and is very needed because currently we don't really have a way to get in on these no flank route ah maps
Next there should be a booyah bomb video!!
i was a splatoon veteran since the age of 7 of 8 and man i rage quit a lot of times because of the kraken 💀
