This video just helped me come up with the intention of nu metal: the union of different underappreciated genres formed into one. This is an industrial rock song with rapping and a video showing breakdancing. It's already expressing signs of industrial music, rock/metal, and hip hop, three common elements of nu metal. Whether or not people loved it or hated it, I think nu metal was at least an attempt in finding that middle ground. And yes, I still enjoy some bands of the genre.
