Hey Katie! Bev here 😊 I think this is going to look different for each family and each individual child within a family, but I do think as parents, it's our job to slowly push our children in how to navigate the outside world during these transition years. My oldest daughter didn't get a job until she was 16, but my second daughter has a job at 14, which was influenced by their individual personalities and opportunities presented to them. I think our goal as parents should be to willingly and joyfully hand over freedoms, with the understanding that we will pull them back if those freedoms are not handled well. But with the heart and desire to expand the funnel as they get older. This cannot be done without lots of conversation (a bit of friction at times) and your finger on the pulse at all times. It's a lot of work, but what a joy to see our children grow their wings and fly!

Loved the Block idea. You ladies are doing an amazing job. You're genuine and informative, and so wish I would have started this year's ago and had about 4 more children😢

Thank you for this interview! I’m so curious and nervous about high school. My oldest is just a couple years away. Particularly wondering how to transition into jobs as a teenager (suggestions?), more social freedom (or does that stay similar), and phone use (what age to start that). All these things were easy to figure out when I was a teenager and at regular school but now with my own children, I feel less confident about them growing up. But I don’t want to hold them back either. Either way, all of this will happen by the time they are 18, but I’m curious about those unique 15-18 years.
