Funny thing about this arc, the tournament way less violent than the dark tournament. This was a very friendly tournament, alot of fights ended with one person conceding. I did enjoy the face yusuke made when he was getting wailed on by yomi.
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved…72
That was the problem, if you want to make a point you cannot force your view on other, it shoulda have respected the fact that they are not dealing with humans, yet you still want to make a point
You really can’t blame Togashi, he did what he could. The problem is and has always been the fault of Shueisha and the decision makers there, they practically torture their Mangakas until they can’t function anymore.
Holy shit that intro of Yusuke's monologue is so self aware of what the series has become. The same could be said to ichigo of Bleach but he doesn't want to admit it to himself lol
this was actually my favorite arc in the show. the fact that yusuke finessed everyone into peace through another tournament was a great conclusion to the show, and I'm glad they didn't keep trying to up the stakes after they threatened the entire world in the black chapter.
I actually quite like this arc! Not for the tournament but the characters of the 3 kings. You could tell Togashi had much larger plans than a rushed tournament. It should have been a conquest arc and not a tournament. Besides that, i love the relationship between the 3 kings and our 3 main characters.
I miss Rando. Pity he's implied to be dead in the manga. The new OVA will be addressing that reveal so unless they decide to throw in a cameo, he'll be gone in the anime too. I always thought it was a pity that we didn't actually get to see his 100 techniques
I agree! I always assumed he was in prison in the spirit realm. It would have been interesting to also see him improve his techniques and become a better fighter. He could have been a real wildcard if he was trained by Kurama.
7:21 Pretty’s interesting! I heard something similar about Bui. Honestly, shishi and the *Beautiful* Suzuki didn’t make sense. Well, Suzuki did, but not as a fighter. He should’ve found his calling as an amazing trainer, along with Genkai.
People love to call Yusuke's ancestry an ass pull. Yet near beginning of the series, after the episode when yusuke threw his spirit beast's egg into the fire to save Keiko; there's a scene where koenma says to yusuke that "the frequency of your wavelengths are lower than most people" which is why the next chance they would have to revive Yusuke after this chance would be in 50 years or so. this seems odd at first but no one expected Yusuke to become as strong as he did to unlock his demon abilities, and thats the only other chance that's mentioned but there may have even been more. meaning that in retrospect this is because him being a hybrid makes his frequency lower and his lifespan longer. His heritage is clued at all over the place but it's never concrete evidence until it's revealed anyway.
After Yusuke's first death, Yusuke's mom even has a dream that yusuke goes to hell and tries to knock down the demons there to become their ruler. (at least something along those lines) which is completely reflected by the end in Yusuke literally concepting a tournament to decide the king of demon world. odd though that he had to die twice for that to happen though haha
@@Dropdeaddonuts and if im not mistaken during the fight with Suzaku, Suzaku said something along the lines of Yusuke not being human or something like that
What really always kinda confused me was yusuke's ancestor mom and raizen met like 800 years ago soo how could yusuke be seen only as a demon if he is like 98% more human
IMO this arc is really well realized as far as characters go. So much development in this chapter, that lead to them they’re own conclusions and resolutions throughout.
I just finished rewatching 3 Kings, and yeah it's rushed and there's a LOT more potential there we didn't get to see, but it was still fun and Yusuke introducing democracy through fists is 100% in character. I also think Jin and the gang are supposed to mirror Raizens friend group, since Yusuke is his heir, showing how similar they are. I also like how there's no real villain in this arc and that even Yusukes staunchest opponents get swept up into his enthusiasm.
@@GoldenScouter One could make arguments for either character having been planned to die. Hiei wasn't present at the beach scene in the last episode. But it would have been sort of poetic had Kurama sacrificed himself to protect his human mother along with her new family. Either way, a lot of way fans would have complained.
@@GoldenScouter seems like it was supposed to be kurama, based on the episode where he fights shigure being set up in a way that foreshadows kurama's death.
I remember being disappointed with this when I first saw it but I've grown to appreciate it more over time. Considering how much tagashi has struggled in life and that he was in agony at the end of the series it's amazing that it came out as good as it did, subverting expectations is a word that's thrown around but it did it in a good way where instead of having a lengthy long dragged out War Arc they just don't do it and instead do a classic tournament but even better the main character doesn't even win and they use it as a great character moment for all the main characters. Kuwabara is absent but he's been making it clear that he is not really so much into the whole life or death fighting and at the end of the day he gets probably one of the best girls in all of anime
Every fight was so deep and developmental in this arc it's amazing, I wish yu yu hakusho had more time. But damn I feel like I truly know these guys it's the best
The Three Kings Arc shows that not all manga are (or have to be) better than the anime. Sure the manga gives a way better outlook in the perspective of the author, but anime sometimes don't even give the same atmosphere or narration as the manga. When this happens, it becomes more about the outlook of the whole crew that made the anime. The english dub is just as loved if not more for the same reason. The story was a bit half-baked and the tournament was mid, but the characters, settings, and fights more than made up for it. The atmosphere had a way better vibe as well as everything feels like it has closure. While the manga was really good and the characters feel more grounded, the ending for the series was pretty underwhelming as another generic arc ends, Yusuke pops back in after using more plot armor, we get some time with the full cast again, world building panels roll and it's over. Not bad but definitely not great. While I like some of the manga-only content, I prefer the anime.
They didn't rush this, its the Manga that is "rushed" cause Togashi had to do another manga. In fact, he wanted to end the whole series in the Sensui Arc. This arc had only 2 chapters in the manga, this anime adaptation take a good job to atleast "prolong" it.
Well if raizen wouldn't have starved himself there would be no power struggle cuz raizen would rule without absolute authority due to even yomi and makuro together standing no chance at all against him.
This is the only vid in which I think I can ask this: how come that Raizen is Yusuke's father, yet he met a human many generation before Yusuke was born?
It all comes down to preference. Japanese is more accurate and true to the manga, while English has more attitude and has a lot American jargon. I like both for each their own reasons.

This saga could have been the greatest anime arc ever if it had not been rushed by Togashi.

They should do a yyh revival 15 years later with kuwabara as the new spirt detective. Rando could return too. Would be epic

This was mandated by the publisher. And Togashi hated writing it to the point he literally sabotaged it to get it cancelled.
